  1. Hi Katiebob Just wondering if Narla found her home.... She looks adorable and for a bengal to be sweet- natured, she should be a find. If she is still being fostered, how is she doing?
  2. ... A black and white female cat with a glittery collar with the name " Jess " on it. Jess is a young cat, around 4kgs and very affectionate. She was found in the evening of December 3rd, by children living locally in Lesnes Abbey Woods by Elstree Gardens next to Bostal Woods, close to the Abbey at Upper Abbey Wood SE2. She is now being fostered by us until the owner is found; we believe this is a cat that strayed a bit too far from home and got lost; her home must be anxious to find her. If you have lost this cat, please call Cats Protection Bexley (Evina 0208 4808015 / Janet 01322 611911). Thanks Evina
  3. I have also applied and have not heard yet..?...
  4. Lynne and family we feel for you, please remember that the rainbow bridge is a wonderful place and this means that from now on, your little one will be happy and pain free until you all reunite. A comforting thought at times like these. We re all thinking of you...xxxxxx
  5. Hey, congratulations you all! Lester looks a happy bunny!
  6. Hello All I have received this email from my best friend (totally trustworthy) and facebook member (not Refuge member yet but I m still hoping...). Please treat as you see fit:
  7. Joined too, for all its worth. I m crap at loggin in though. I had created login details a couple of months back and never went in until now, to put some info in and add the refuge to my groups. And also noted that we are all girlies in there, which I had not noticed in here !!! Looks like we are more animal friendly !
  8. Re. Wilson, I agree with above that people as weak/inexperienced as this lady should not be allowed such dogs/breeds. If a breeder sold the dog to her, bad on them really. If it was a rescue, same goes there. There should be responsibility in (re)homing such breeds and the people who home them know this best. Re Caspar, as a fresh grey admirer and owner, I felt that the test was fine but not realistic in the end. What did not make sense is that Debbie (an experienced grey owner) had not apparently picked up on the tight leash ossue which by the way is not jsut a greyhound thing but a more general dog training tip. I felt by the end of it that there was a part of the history behind Caspars problem we were missing and it was not in the programme. Gorgeous grey though...!
  9. I just got my girl booked for spaying and they sent me an advance notice of cost at GBP170! Are there any cheaper options in SE London / NW Kent??? I thought Celia Hammond charge around GBP70 and their clinic is for everyone...
  10. A lateral question Egar, would you want to buy the place if you could raise some financing for it? If this is a possibiliy, let me know because I could perhaps help you there. Or alteratively, if you dont mind renting it long term, that is another option. PM me if any of these is a possibilty. E&Z
  11. Lucky sweetheart Oscar . Reminds me of a similar looking oldie dog that I have been seeing since my move here 2 years ago. His loving dad is taking him up to the woods for walks (not just round the corner) at least twice a day and as the he is slow due to age, it probably takes them half an hour at a time to do 500 yards to and fro. The commitment of some of you guys is aspirational! Day and night, hot or cold or rain, day after day, I have seen these two lovey doveys do their tour and I have admired them both. How fantastic is this!
  12. Done, it now works. Come on all, Only 387 signatures? We can all do better to get heard. E&Z
  13. A part of my faith in the human race died upon reading the story of Tobey. Few times have I been shocked more than when I read the story and the video link above. These boys did not just kidnap, torture and murder a puppy, they violated the heart of everyone who heard the story. There is no sentence for what they did; if they are not punished, we all collectively share the guild. Sadly, I find no compassion for them in me. There is a petition open for the prosecution of these people here : Petition We cannot do anything for Tobey, but perhaps we can voice our protest in a part of the world that could have known better and raised children to respect animals. There is a touching song about Tobey which says it all so much better than me: Tobey's song page E&Z
  14. Here's our update: we are now with fosters in the house ( a cat and her two newborn kittens) from CHAT. Here they are: We also changed out minds about rescuing a yorkie as we saw they were few and far between and always the ones to be chosen first. So we are now doing the unlikely and will be getting a greyhound! We think we have found him -after a few unsuccessful attempts where we were beaten to the post or not suitable- so Paudie is probably going to be joining us in the next week or so. Here he is: Hopefully, he will fall in love with us and we with him on Sunday, esp. Zouzouna! from all of us
  15. Thanks Ange, I hope it made a difference, although from other sources I understand the problem is nowhere near resolved yet. What a pity, to have such intelligent and highly paid people in government and yet no one able to get the industry to act responsibly. I would suggest all racer owners be responsible for their dogs until natural death or resolve their rehoming themselves in the UK, in a regulated manner overseen by Animal Welfare Organisations and monitored yearly. Simple, effective and will make the right group of people more responsible; perhaps they will think twice before killing or PTSing again. Oh yes, in my dream world, they get 5-10 for killing a dog, and at lest 5 for negligence in its upkeep (no excuse of dognapping and finding retired greys killed thereafter!!!). Even a dissappeared grey would merit investigation and if negligence was detected, lock-em in...With no possibility of parole. No ifs ands or buts. There, I vented!
  16. Sorry but the link redirects me to a page that says "Deactivated at author's request". Is this petition not closed?
  17. Hello all This is Evina and my pet is a 2year old yorkie terrier called Zouzouna. We live at the edge of Greenwich towards Bexleyheath and have a great big woods and heath on our doorstrep for walkies. We recently decided to get some company and are looking for another small rescue yorkshire terrier (if anyone has one we can check out, that would be grand!) Soon, we will be having some foster cats around as well, given that we are such good company and have some love to spare! We have been known to rescue kittens and strays as well, here and in Greece when I come from. Most have had happy endings, so we can only to hope to keep up the good work here. We will mostly be observing you all, and will hopefully contribute to the chats and rescues soon. Best, E & Z
