  1. This is my new foster - Deefa. As Cindy knows I can't resist Springers, so once the lovely Elsa had gone to her new forever home, I was asked to look after Deefa, he's 11 from the show strain and an absolutely lovely old boy. He has a great character, loves messing in the kitchen bin! and will pinch any type of food that he can find. Here he is in thoughtful mode: He would make someone a lovely pet, and Cindy says she has a black lab for me when he's gone!
  2. Hooray!! I've been looking for this post for at least a week Congratulations, Mel - by the way I'm sending you an email that will make you smile xx
  3. Has to be springers - Cassie is our first springer and I've always loved dogs - but she is just something else. When we first had her, one of our friends said she had human eyes - and she looks at you like she understands everything you are saying to her. Her absolute joy when she's out walking is just brilliant to watch. I also love labradors and Cavaliers though
  4. to Cindy, thinking of you and Snatch
  5. Aww Elsa, I am missing you so much, but I hope you settle in really well in your new home and have a wonderful life Thanks Karen, I am crying again!!!!
  6. Only just heard this today - CONGRATULATIONS
  7. I don't agree with the death penalty at all - I used to when I was much younger then saw a documentary on tv about a young black man in the US - I cannot remember his name - it followed him for a year while he was on death row convicted of a double murder. He went through appeal after appeal and was executed - it later turned out he was innocent. It was heartrending - I've never forgotten it, everyone around him knew he was innocent but they were unable to fight the system who wanted someone to pay for the crime. I believe that life should mean life and I think that prisoners should not have an easy life - I also believe that if scum like Ian Huntley want to kill themselves they should be 'allowed' to.
  8. So sorry Lynne and family. Run free at the bridge Lou xx
  9. I agree with all the above. When I met my OH my dad told him that my dog/s would always come first - so he knows exactly where he stands! He is now converted though and loves our dogs almost as much as me - our kids do too - and I wouldn't want it any other way. My dogs are a major part of my life and I couldn't live without a dog - I know he's not asking you to do that but if they were there first, then he should fit in with them and you
  10. Aww they're gorgeous I especially like the grey scruffy one (I won't let Elsa see because she might get jealous!!)
  11. My mum and dad's two cavaliers died in a small house fire on Monday - we are all devastated. My dad was visiting my mum in hospital and returned home to find them dead in their basket. Toby was an 11 year old ruby cavalier and Sally was a tricolour who was just 20 months old. Run Free my beautiful dogs - find your friends Holly, Rosie and Lady - until we meet again xx
  12. Help needed please! My 11 year old cavi has somehow managed to almost rip his dew claw out. It seems to be hanging by only a thread, its now stopped bleeding and we've bandaged it up after soaking it in antiseptic - but can anyone give any advice on anything else we need to do before getting him to the vets tomorrow, Thanks
  13. Mel, I'm so sorry - have pm'd you Claire xx
  14. I agree completely - the press would have had a field day if she was not a 'professional' who actually should have known better than to leave her children alone. In fact as a GP she probably has to sit on child protection conferences making a judgment on parents who leave their children home alone. There is something very strange about this I feel, I cannot understand why the other children were left and only the little girl was taken
  15. A man walked into a restaurant with a full-grown emu behind him. The waitress asked for their orders. The man said, 'A hamburger, fries and a coke,' and turns to the emu, 'What's yours?' I'll have the same,' says the emu. A short time later the waitress returned with the order. 'That will be £9.40 please,' she said and the man reached into his pocket and pulled out the exact amount for payment. The next day, the man and the emu return and the man said, 'A hamburger, fries, and a coke.' The emu said, 'I'll have the same.' Again the man reached into his pocket and paid with the exact amount. This became an almost daily occurrence until the two enter again later in the week. 'The usual?' asks the waitress. 'No, this time it's a treat, so I will have a steak, baked potato and salad, said the man. Yep! Same,' said the emu. Shortly the waitress brought the order and said, 'That will be £32.62.' Once again the man took the exact amount from his pocket and placed it on the table. The waitress couldn't hold back her curiosity any longer. 'Excuse me, Sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact money from your pocket every time?' Well,' said the man, several years ago I was clearing the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there.' 'That's brilliant!' said the waitress. 'Most people would wish for a couple of million pounds or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!' 'That's right. Whether it's a pint of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there,' says the man. The waitress asks, 'But, sir, what's with the emu?' < < < < The man sighed, paused, and replied, 'My second wish was for a tall bird with a big a**e and long legs who agrees with everything I say.'
  16. to you - but I know you might think I'm totally stupid to say this, but my mum has cushings disease and also is diabetic - I know that illnesses can be completely different in dogs to humans, but she does manage to keep going!
  17. Big hugs for you and Coco - what a beautiful springer boy and only a baby! Hope he pulls through and has a lovely happy life - our thoughts are with you xx Claire
  18. Well here's another one for him - cannot believe that anyone would want to hurt him -or any dog - he looks
  19. She's fine, settled in well. She's now got some cream for her leg, but still nibbling if she can get away with it! We can easily cope with four springers, Karen, Elsa will keep them in line for us!
  20. Well here is the lovely old girl - some photos I took earlier, will try to get some better ones over the next few days
  21. The lovely Elsa is back in foster care with me after her new home didn't work out. I'm pleased to say that although we haven't seen her for about 5 -6 weeks she definitely remembered us. She walked into the house, said hello to my two dogs and promptly lay down in exactly the same place as she used to lie!
