  6. Sadie has gone to live in her fab new retirement home in Surrey today. She arrived safely, has been to the park and is currently sniffing her way around the house! Just so pleased we were able to offer her a foster home. Jackie
  7. I want to help but don't know if there is a co-ordinator covering the notts/leics area? Thanks. Jackie
  8. Colin the Collie's fosterer is going on holiday from 21-28 October and we desperately need to find him a temporary foster home for that week. The problem we have is that Colin has kennel cough (very mild, he was checked by the vet last night, his chest is clear and his temperature is normal). Is there anyone who doesn't have a dog, and who lives in the Nottinghamshire area who can help us please? Colin is a 10-12 year old collie, who is a very sprightly and friendly little chap. Thanks very much. Jackie
  9. Hi Lisa, so sorry to hear about the sad loss of Sky. I can only tell you how I deal with it when we lose a dog, and a lot of people would perhaps disagree. The only way I can cope is to get another dog as soon as possible after losing one. It's not to replace that dog, but to ease the hurt and the pain and to give another dog a chance of happiness. My reasoning is, why is it right to feel so bad and full of pain, when a dog somewhere needs me? Of course I wouldn't go out and get a puppy the next day or something, but all the dogs we get are rescue ones, and usually older too. It doesn't make the pain disappear, but I always think that if my dog who died could talk to me now, they would want me to help another poor soul. This probably sounds like a load of rubbish, but it's the only way I cope without going into depression each time we lose a dog. Everyone is different though, so you have to do what you feel is right for you and your family. Good luck, and best wishes in whatever you decide. Jackie
  10. Jess and Mac have gone to their lovely new home!
  11. Fingers crossed these two lovelies are going to their new home on Monday!
  12. Katy ........ only 3 legs but lots and lots of love to give. Katy is a medium-large 2 year old crossbreed girl who lost one of her legs in a road accident. Katy adores people and would love someone to give her the chance she deserves. Katy can live with other dogs following careful introduction, but she needs a cat-free home (Katy was rehomed, however although she got on very well with the 2 dogs in the household, she and the resident cat developed a dislike of one another ). She loves children but as she is quite bouncy, a home where any children are over 8 years old would be best. Despite only having 3 legs, Katy is very active. This gorgeous girl has so much to offer and really craves a loving permanent home to call her own. Katy is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. Katy is on the right in this photo: If you think you are the special someone that Katy is looking for, please contact Jackie at AARU (Animal Accident Rescue Unit), email [email protected] Jackie Dog Welfare AARU, PO Box 5415, Burton Joyce, Nottingham AARU registered charity number 701405
  13. Jess and Mac ...... mum and son who are constant companions and never far apart. These 2 friendly and affectionate Staffies are looking for a home where they can stay together forever. Jess is around 5 years old and her son, Mac, is about 2. Both are neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. They absolutely love fuss and cuddles and are very keen to please. A dog and cat free home where any children are over 10 years of age would be ideal for these 2 sweethearts. We are willing to rehome Jess and Mac anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit. A minimum donation of £50 is required. If you think you are the special someone that Jess and Mac are looking for, please contact Jackie at AARU (Animal Accident Rescue Unit), email [email protected] Jackie Dog Welfare AARU, PO Box 5415, Burton Joyce, Nottingham AARU registered charity number 701405 Jackie

  16. This makes me so mad: Two boys, aged 11 and 13, have been arrested after a dog was found dead on a railway line. The dog, thought to have been tied to the piece of track near Corby in Northamptonshire, is believed to have been hit by a train. British Transport Police said the dog was found on 3 June and the boys were arrested on 5 June on suspicion of animal cruelty. They have both been bailed pending further inquiries. Been burnt The dog is also thought to have been burnt, although a British Transport Police spokeswoman said it had not been ascertained if this had happened before or after its death. She said: "I believe a dog was found on the railway tracks. How that dog came to be on the tracks is under investigation. "All we know at this stage is that two boys have been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty. "British Transport Police and Northamptonshire Police are working together."
  17. You are doing the best thing for him, no-one could do any more than that. Be strong for the little chap - I'm sure he will feel much better once he's had a trim and tidy up.
  18. Delighted to say that Benji is going to his new home in Wales next weekend!
