    Oscar

Sorry no pics. yet1 But i will email them to Liz. Thank you to everyone who helped get this little one to us. He is very well behaved. so far Gabby is abit over exicted at the moment but they do seem to get on. Oscar has seen one of the cats and ignored it which is good. I will update more later.
  2. Well Murphy has found his forever home. He has gone to a lovely couple who have had bearded collies before and they all just got on so well when they came to visit. We are missing him already but we know he will be well looked after. A big thank you to everyone who helped to rehome Murphy!
  3. Murphy says THANK YOU doggielover and sends a big wet, sloppy kiss!!!!
  4. I thought I would just let you all know how it's going with Murphy as he still needs a new home. There is an update and pics on the Oldies web site. I am not sure how to do a link but if someone could do it for me that would be FAB. Murphy is realy getting on well with Gabby and has helped loads with her basic training. If Murphy sits for a treat, Gabby sits. If Murphy comes back when called so will Gabby. I think Gabby thinks 'Murphy' is her second name!! Murphy's fur is growing back and he does look abit of a mess. He is very good at being brushed now but wont let me near him with scissors so his hair is growing over his eyes. I am taking it slowly and he is getting better about this so hopefully he will be able to see again soon It really didnt take long for him to trust me with a brush so fingers crossed that he will let me cut his eyebrows soon It does seem as if he has been really hurt in the past, poor old boy. Murphy is also a lot better with other dogs in general. someone somewhere is missing out on the perfect dog. Murphy Moomin Monster Mupet head or Murph for short would love a home of his own
  5. Now I know this may take a few weeks but if nothing else is being done maybe worth a try. Contact the noise people at the local concil. Tell them about the noise and make that the primary issue. The lady in question will then have to take steps to stop the dog from making a noise. be this shelter, letting it in more or taking it to training. However this does take weeks of keeping a record of when the dog is out when it is barkink ect. I know that this is not ideal but it may force her to address the problem and maybe face up to the fact that she can no longer look after or train a dog. If this woman is verbaly aggresive again I would go to the police. all round
  6. Ok poor Murphy!!! we got a poopie puppy a few days a go and Murphy has been a true gentalman about it all!!! He has had afew grumbles at her but hasnt tried to eat her and is very good about her weeing on his bed .He has even tried to play with her but Gabby runs off and hides. Murphy seems to understand that it may take alittle time for her to come round so he lets her have his toys to play with. I am so sad now thinking that Murphy might go to a new home thinking that we dont want him anymore as we have a puppy!!!I know that Murphy would be happier in a quiet household with out so much going on and being spoilt buuuuutttttttt we do love him so much!!!
  7. I know very nasty poopie!!! but we all got poopie love now.no cure I know we will just have to live with it!!!

  9. Hello sorry I didnt know where else to put this!! I got up this morning looking foward to a nice peaceful morning pottering around on my own. Viv and Chris have gone car booting. Instead I woke up with a headache and a very sore eye!! When you wake up like that you just know things are going to get worse .Anyway everyone was getting ready to go out and I had disided to go back to bed when Viv shouted 'theres no hot water!!'.Oh doG! I pulled myself out of bed to see what had happend . well the plug to the hot water tank had part melted.when I pulled it out it left one of the metal things in the socket!! I was on the phone to the council and they told me if it hadnt tripped the main switch it was safe . Now I dont know much about this sort of thing but surely metal hanging out of the socet is not good. :wacko:I found the switch for the waterheater on the board and turned that off. So I then phone an electrian who said no it doesnt sound good but if they came out they would charge me £50-£70 per hour so I phoned the council again and they said they would log my call. does this mean they will come out today or what? I just wanna go back to bed!!!! Very fed up now and just wanted to moan sorry!
  10. Just thought I would let you all know that Murphy is getting soooooooo much better. We took a slow walk into town this morning and Murphy loved it!!! He was wearing his oldies club bandana and got lots of attention and fuss from loads of people We spent an hour having a coffee and chatting to people. A nice man came and gave Murphy his water to drink and Murphy repaid this kindness by dripping all over him!!!! It is very odd as nobody seem to mind having his grogeus but very wet/smelly face all over them!!! We did give out the oldies web site and phone details so hopefully someone will get in contact soon. if not for murphy maybe one of the other dogs
  11. IwantIwantIwant!!!!!! Give it to meeeeeeeee!!!!! £9
  12. Murphy is with me and he is lovely. He is very talkative (sp) so who ever does get him will never be lonely Murphy does drool but he is a very good boy and lets you wash/dry his face and beard!!!! he loves cuddles but wont get on the bed or sofa so you have to sit on the floor with him
  13. At the risk of blackberry jammin the web site is STILL DOWN!!! Most frustrating as Murphy Moomin was on there today!!

  16. Depends on the size of the dog but alot!! Is dog slobber good for your skin?
  17. Hello we had an old dog who was going blind and deaf Doris loved new smells. so anything she could get her nose into was great fun. A favorite of Doris's was the plastic trays that meat comes in. She would spend a good hour licking and sniffing an empty tray How about a treat ball with really smelly treats? Lily would be able to push the ball around so the treats would fall out. Doris could also tell when we where coming closer to her by the vibrations on the wooden floor. Doris would jump if you startled her so we would tap the floor gently if she was asleep so she knew we were coming. Do not worry about Lily sleeping alot. Doris would stay in bed all night and then have a 3-4 hour nap in the day. We found that 4 very short walks spread out over the day worked better for doris than 2 longer ones. This also helped with stimuation and stopped her from becoming too worn out. I hope that some of this helps
  18. Hello I have a message from Rex, Here it is Hello Rudi thanks for the canny collar (not) . I hate it!!! My foster Mum thinks it is great!! as now I am a good boy on walks and do not 'pull her ams out of their sockets' what ever that means! The collar is a bit big and if my foster mum is not careful I can get free . So I was wandering if maybe it would be alright if we tried to swop it for a smaller one so that I am not tempted to slip it off Thanks again Rudi walks are much calmer now and I suppose I really should try to learn how to walk instead of run. You never know maybe it will even help me find a forever home P.s. I am now on the oldies web site.
  19. for all of you. sorry only just seen this as been off line for a few days
  20. We are fostering Rex a collie x lab and he does 'THE EYE' I have never had a collie before and just thought he was odd. Now I know he is trying to tell me something
  21. Hi I am Alex. i am an oldies foster. I live with my partner Viv and my Sons Nic (11) and Chris(9). We have 2 cats and have Rex as our foster dog. We are in Daventry, Northamtonshire. We go on long walks all the time what ever the weather so if you are near and fancy meeting up for a walk let me know.
  22. Rex was rescued at 14 months by an elderly lady. the lady had bim for nine years and became very ill a few weeks ago (she is nearly 100yrs old). I think some thing bad must of happend when he was a puppy. But he is coming round. as today he did a poo on lead and stood still while i picked it up. I dont think it is hurting him as he has been to the vets for full check up. I just wondered if I was doing the right things to help Rex as i have never had a dog that runs away when they poo before It doesnt matter what type of lead he is on short long or off lead he still tries to bolt. Sorry that is the only way to discribe it. he takes off like a race horse. He is very hard to hold when on a lead when he does this.
  23. Hi I have bein fostering Rex a 10 yr old collie x lab. I have had him for a week and he is very well behaved. He is great with other dogs off lead and has great recall but when he has a poo (on or off lead) he tries to run away. He sort of bolts at a hundred miles per hour in any direction that you are not. I do not look at him when he poos as this scares him and he will turn around when pooing to keep an eye on you. I stand well away and when he is finished I tell him good boy and talk softly. this has stopped him for runnig away but he will not come back for a bout 5 mins. I move away from the poo and he will come back then I have to put him on lead to go back and get the poo. If I try to get the poo when Rex is off lead he runs off. I really think something has happend to poor old Rex. He will poo on lead but gets very upset. this is the only problem we have with rex and i just wanted to make sure i was doing the right things to help him over come this. Thanks
  24. I will get pics soon. Trying like mad to borrow a camara.
