  1. How cute is Jake! He has a temperament to match too, such a nice natured dog I have never met, he just took everything in his stride. He is now in foster with Inga down in Penzance.
  2. They both look very happy with their leaves in that shot! I'm very sorry you have lost Bernard, but how lovely to see him having such a happy time.
  3. ******must resist temptation to spend next week building new Xmas skin for Refuge*****
  4. Not only am I getting post, but to my great surprise, I got a Dogstar Calendar! It is really nice, lovely photography.
  5. I've got to stop looking at these, only, only.... wahahahahahahaaa!
  6.   Good grief. RMF, there is an upside down icicle forming by our back door, where water has dripped off the gutter and frozen!
  7. My Mum's Oldies Club whippet Flash looks like butter would not melt whenever I see him. He trots along being *oh so good*. However, she tells me that he's developed an obnoxious habit : if he sees an onlead small dog - particularly, though not exclusively if he and his two buddies are also on lead - he goes into mad screaming banshee mode and tries to launch himself at the other dog! Flash is himself a wee little thing so it's not too much of a problem to hold him back, but obviously she'd rather he didnt' do this as it's not very social behaviour! Flash has always been great with my hounds and foster dogs (though of course they are bigger!) and when we meet up to do a walk he either ignores other offlead dogs we meet, sniffs politely, and occasionally plays nicely with them (though I think he doesn't like to play when my hounds are there as they are so much bigger so he doesnt' want to start them running..) But then we usually meet in places where all the dogs are offlead, whereas when Mum walks him round the village, she's more likely to meet other dogs on lead. Another Flash question while I'm at it : he really hates the cold and wears a lot of coats. Mum has wondered if he would like boots to keep his feet warm - any recommendations?
  8. Here is one of the Gigantic ice crystals that have formed on Mark's car (they were on my car too but I brushed them off when I went to the shop).
  9. What does she do all day...?
  10. Not quite the same, but we have a few Inuit dogs locally around here. The other day I came round a bush and found one looking at me, no owner to be seen, no collar, and I seriously had a ' F**K ME THAT'S A WOLF ' moment before he started to wag and came over for a cuddle.
  11. Good grief... That's the Father Christmas from 'Father Christmas do not touch me'. isn't it...? He certainly seems to be having a good time. I wonder if he's any relation of Sirius...
  12. *chortle* No snow here, but it's SO icy! Everything is covered in a rime of frost...
  13. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/8181030/Snow-heaven-is-a-husky-sled-in-the-freezing-weather.html (though, is it me, or are there more huskies and similar breeds in rescue than there used to be? )
  14. It'ss ssssssoooooo ccccccooooooollld! Met a cow this morning who had sort of snuggled herself into the hedge under a bush to try to keep warm and looked very sad. Are cows all right outside in this weather? She wasn't one of the woolly sort and was all on her lonesome.
  15. Brilliant! Mine aren't that discriminating, any toy will do!
  16. Looks like you had lovely weather for it! Who is the little terrierist dancing in the background of the third photo down?
  17. Forgot to say that this challenge is open to everyone, including OC committee members, as Tobli is judging. We didn't have anyone say that their kids would like to enter, but if we do, we'll do a separate kid's class.
  18. Time travel for me too! ( Though the ability to exterminate people by pointing my finger at them does seem very tempting at times... )
  19. I've made a thread! http://www.therefuge...allenge-thread/ This area is now publicly viewable (only the images don't seem to be working for logged out people at the mo, even if not hosted here... Closing date is Monday 20th... GO! CREATE!!!
  20. OK, the way we're going to do this is like this : You make a Festive Decoration. Your decoration can be superb, disastrous, minimalist, extravagant, or comical. It can be laughably bad, or totally awesome. It can be large, or small. The important thing is : 1) you make it yourself 2) you take a photo of it and post it in this thread before the end of Monday 20th December 2010 You can make a donation to the Oldies Club to show your support on the Festive Challenge Justgiving Page. OR, you can get someone else (or, several someone elses) to sponsor your Amazing Work in the best tradition of Public Art, and make a donation (suggested £1 or more!). OR if times are really, really hard, you can not donate at all. But, if you did that, you would have to face Trish the oldie Sponsor Chihuahua: The arty creator of the Bestest and Most Awesome decoration will win a £10 theatre voucher. If we get a lot of entries then I may try to come up with some other awards (eg : Best Bah Humbug! but we'll see how many people actually enter first ) I suggest we keep this thread for the Amazing Creations Themselves, and discuss them in other threads, to make life slightly easier for our Festive Guru who will be judging.
  21. am relieved to hear it!
  22. Ooh very stylish! I don't have my tree up yet!
