  1. To be honest I'm shocked that a vet would give a 16 year old dog with health problems any boosters - they are only to be given to animals who are 100% healthy and at 16, I'm quite sure he's had more than enough 'boosters' in his life. However, what's done is done. I would think about changing his diet to real food. Neither Pedigree nor Bakers are up to much. Real meat, fish, veg and fruit would support his body much more and he'd get more goodness from them. Have a read at this http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=9616 and yes, even at his age it would make a difference. Like you, my first dog was fed commercial as I didn't know better, by 8 she had arthritis which steadily got worse and worse. Eventually someone told me to feed her lamb, yes real lamb to help her stomach which was destroyed by Metacam and sardines to help her legs - when I did so I could see a difference, not enough for her to suddenly get up and run around again, but better. I wouldn't touch either Rimadyl or Metacam. Metacam gave my girl serious Colitis which blooming nearly killed her on many an coccasion. I know of one dog who started pouring blood out his back end after one dose. Here's what I did for my girl....... What worked for my old lady dog was Runaround from Stock Nutrition, which is Green Lipped Mussel, Shark Cartilage, Vitamins C & E. Within 5 days on that, she was trotting a couple of miles, with no trace of a limp, having previously only been able to stagger to the end of the road on very shaky pins, where she was lying down to watch the traffic while on Metacam. She was great on the Runaround for a couple of years. Then her legs got worse again and I added in Garlic, Greenleaf Tablets from Denes, Osteotrace tablets from ARONHA, got her a magnetic collar, used crystals – Blue Lace Agate to start with, and others, she also had Acupuncture for months, but I eventually stopped that and did acupressure on her myself after having been shown by an Acupuncturist how and where would be most beneficial. These were all added in at various times as the need arose. She also latterly had Reiki which helped enormously and I believe gave her an extra 6 months with me. There are loads of natural products and therapies out there which I am sure would help enormously. The trick is, as ever, finding the right thing for YOUR dog, which is where your gut comes in – you’ll know what’s right. Homeopathy can also work wonders. Hannah just didn’t want it, she preferred herbs etc. The book which helped me a lot and sent me in various correct directions for Hannah is - Natural Healthcare for Pets by Richard Allport (available from the library). He covers a wide range of natural therapies and is based in Potters Bar, he’s one of the top Natural Vets. Had I kept Hannah on Metacam, she would have been dead by 12 as the Vet prophesied, but once I changed her to natural treatments she was MUCH happier, healthier, fitter and had a much greater quality of life. She lived to 15 years and 6½ weeks! Runaround is available from Stock Nutrition www.doghealth.co.uk Phone 08000 744302 They are very helpful. Denes website is www.denes.com Phone 01273 325364 They also have a range of Factsheets which they will send out free of charge very quickly if you ask. They’re also very helpful. ARONHA - Phone 01943 862893 I know Glucosamine can be great too. Some other products I believe can be helpful are : Mobileaze www.aviform.co.uk I know someone who has used this very successfully with her Weimaraners. Cortaflex Synflex Ease by Phytopet 01244 813162 email [email protected] Deer Velvet www.velvetenergy.com Copper Collars help some dogs, but obviously not at the same time as a magnetic one! Fish oil can help too. Vit C Vit E Apple Cider Vinegar Hydrotherapyetc, etc, etc............ CMO Nowadays I'd start with real food, adding in garlic, vit C, E, B, Fish oil, perhaps evening primrose oil, ACV, etc, etc.... I read about another supplement the other day that may interest you - Serrapeptase http://www.serrapeptase.info/pets.htm

OMG!!! MOUNTAINS of Reiki for them all
  4. aw, bless........... Flower Essences should help - good for fears
  5. Fresh air will help, just open window/door is enough. I'd give her some Homeopathic Arnica 30c - one tablet 3 times daily for a day or two as from what I hear, vets tend to really pull them around doing x-rays for stuff like that and they can be pretty sore. Bach Crab Apple Flower Essence helps get toxins out and Milk Thistle helps clear and repair the liver. Will send Reiki if she wants it.
  6. You'd need a Homeopathic Vet to advise there, but with all those toxins in the body it won't be easy. To find one try here http://www.bahvs.com/ http://www.trusthomeopathy.org/trust/tru_over.html There are loads of natural non-toxic things help with cancer, if you want info I'll post it.. again... Sending Reiki if it's wanted.
  7. Totally agree - for the right remedy she'll need to talk (at length) to a Homeopathic Vet. Sadly none in this area but fortunately some do email consultations. http://www.bahvs.com/ http://www.trusthomeopathy.org/trust/tru_over.html

    And from me..........
  10. Yep, Homeopathic Arnica 30c, one tablet 3 times daily starting now and for a few days after - will help healing etc. Milk Thistle helps clear toxins from liver and repair damage. Bach Crab Aple helps clear toxins, can be rubbed in to body. An op like that, I'd also use either Rescue Remedy or Star of Bethlehem for the shok, again can be rubbed in - top of head between ears is a great spot, I found Cassie freaked if I tried to do it straight from bottle, so I would put a few drops on my palm and then to her head. I'll send Reiki, hope all goes well.

aaww..... That's the kind of post I like, another one sorted and happy Congratulations
  12. Mast cell tumours are recoverable from. I'd also talk to a Homeopathic Vet as Homeopathy and various other treatments can help. To find one, try here http://www.bahvs.com/ http://www.trusthomeopathy.org/trust/tru_over.html Have a read at this lot and see what you feel would help http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/acancer.htm http://www.canine-health-concern.org.uk/ http://theherbs.info/Pets/pets.html http://www.thefountainoflife.ws/ http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/human_treatments.html http://www.dogaware.com/specific.html#cancer I'll send Reiki too if she wants it. Bet she'd love hands-on Reiki
  13. Rescue Remedy and a good scream methinks Homeopathy can help http://www.bahvs.com/ http://www.trusthomeopathy.org/trust/tru_over.html Some of these may help http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/acancer.htm http://www.canine-health-concern.org.uk/ http://theherbs.info/Pets/pets.html http://www.thefountainoflife.ws/ http://www.herbal-treatments.com.au/human_treatments.html http://www.dogaware.com/specific.html#cancer Sending Reiki if wanted.

At least you know and have a plan of action now. All the best with the wheels. I used to get my Hannah on her back and do 'bicycles' in the air with her legs to try to help keep some condition in them. I'd do the back ones and then the front ones a little, but her back ones were worst. I'll keep sending Reiki as long as he wants it.

Has your friend considered talking to a Homeopathic Vet? They can often do things that allopathic only ones can't? And certainly if they could help, any treatments wouldn't be harming her foal too as steroids etc will. I haven't a clue where she is, but Richard Allport does a free initial email consultation, although I'd think at this point a phone call would be best www.naturalmedicinecentre.co.uk He's in Potters Bar and Nick Thompson is based in Bath but travels. I really wish vets would learn to think and talk positive, especially around the animals, they hear every word and respond accordingly. Would your friend consider an animal communicator? They can usually tell us exactly what's wrong and often tell us what treatment would help them. If she would, try Catherine Walker, she's good http://www.talkinghorse.co.uk/ Of course your friend and/or you can talk to me about Reiki if you wish, just pm for my email address. About to send another blast of Reiki to Tealigh and her foal.

Interestingly, she appeared to take more late last night before I went to bed than at the time I posted earlier.... Hope she's feeling better this morning. I hope your friend does decide to do Reiki at some point, it's good to be able to help, no matter what's wrong. Sadly sometimes I'm helping them pass over more peacefully, but that too is a help to them.

Masses on the way. If you have Rescue Remedy, and / or Homeopathic Arnica 30c, they would both help. The arnica, one tablet 34 times daily for a few days, and RR as often as you feel she needs it, just put a few drops on your hand and rub in to her - anywhere will do, but top of head between ears is an excellent spot. Bach Crab Applw would help release the toxins from the GA too, same as RR, rub in. Fresh air, even if it's just an open window.

oh, don't worry, it's still been coming, in fact I was asked for an update the other week on one forum, will go pass on the progress report, and ask for a boost too. Pleased he's making progress
  23. Masses of Reiki on the way.
  24. Reiki on the way. Remember that dogs are smart - by not eating their bodies are better able to concentrate on healing. They can actually survive for weeks without food. Water's much more important.
