blackmagic
Have just read that VIP tickets for Wembley were sold out at 8.59 this morning and two minutes after going on sale they were nearly sold out for Nottingham. Looks like somebody hopes to make a killing. http://www.soldoutticketmarket.com/theatre-tickets/cesar-millan-tickets/3071/cesar-millan-tickets/cesar-millan-wembley-arena-london-sunday-march-07-2010-tickets.htm
ailsas mum
Looks like somebody hopes to make a killing. He will unfortunately, if he was going to be here I would be standing outside with these pictures of him abusing shadow on a poster. Terri
Ian
Whilst personally I don't agree with the absolutely everything positive approach (ie no use of the word no - just as I wouldn't advocate that for children) I don't believe in electric collars, hanging dogs etc either There is a news video story here which acknowledges his efforts to support rescues in closing but which is primarily about other trainers being critical of Cesar's methods & also contains his response to that http://www.komonews.com/home/video/37440019.html?video=pop&t=a Taken from http://coape.org/awsn.html from http://www.apdt.co.uk/index.asp
scotslass
CM will be on shortly - apparently, they have four dogs for him to 'work on'.... I wonder if he'll have toned down his methods for the show?
Ian
I would agree with his comment that when a dog was intent on killing another dog it's unlikely to respond to being offered a biscuit but I disagree with his implied suggestion that these are the only sort of dogs he works with. Although I've not got Sky & have only seen some of the older shows on Freeview I can't say that I'd say any of the dogs I've seen him working with definitely wouldn't have responded to other methods. It's a bit slow to load but the video clip of him with Shadow can still be seen here http://c1.libsyn.com/media/729/05198_11_Working-with-a-W_006.m4v?nvb=20091124215507&nva=20091125220507&t=02a4036c82636f83d27e2
celeste
" Red Zone" dogs as he likes to call them, aren't his only victims, most of the episodes I see are dogs with anxiety issues. From his interview it seems we have Jada Pinkett Smith to thank for his rise to fame, without her help and endorsement he'd possibly have stayed an unknown. Ian
Originally when he smuggled his way into the states it was a couple of women whose name he couldn't even remember that gave him a job in a grooming parlour that got him started on his way. The Smiths are however certainly mentioned in his book, Cesars way, as having later become friends & advocates. He met them by working with a dog of theirs if I remember rightly & has then gone on to work with other members of the Hollywood set.

khanu
I would agree with his comment that when a dog was intent on killing another dog it's unlikely to respond to being offered a biscuit Indeed but any behaviorist worth their salt would be working sub-threshold and not setting dogs up to fail like he does (I know you know this Ian by the way!) so I think his point is really moot. I can't decide whether he is ignorant or he does understand what he is doing and does it anyway I do know that almost everywhere I go I hear and see people hissing and jabbing their dogs. I suspect it is possibly going to be a good time to be a behaviourist/trainer from a business numbers point of view. I stopped doing one to ones last year so I could concentrate on other things, but I've had a few calls from people who have tried Millans methods and now have dogs whose behaviour is escalating out of control. Enough calls that I'm thinking of doing one to ones again.
Ian
I can't decide whether he is ignorant or he does understand what he is doing and does it anyway Personally I think there's a little bit of both in there to be honest - as when a dog like Shadow bites for example he doesn't appear to accept that he caused it to happen. nor particularly care that it happened
