Kaiser- 14wk American Bull Dog

We foster for a local independant rescue lady and last week she had a call from a man saying he had just taken a 14wk american bull dog off his mate who told him he had kicked it when he enquired as to why he was walking strangely. When questioned as to why he hadnt seen a vet his mate told him to take the f*ing dog which he did. Unable to keep him he asked if we could take him. This we did.

It was obvious he was in no pain and your typical pup but there was defo something wrong. Today we took him the vets and he confirmed it was a brake in 2 places :( Xrays show it is right near his hip joint and going to be very difficult to fix. Even the vet was shocked that the pup was in this state and says it must have been some kick and he must have been in so much pain. It must have happened a good few weeks ago as it has started to heal out of line.

He gave us 2 possible options to follow but wants to wait for another more specialist vet to see the xrays to determine what can be done and see if the leg realistically can be saved. The main thing is trying to keep him quiet and calm. However he is just your typical pup looking for fun fun fun and charging round with the other dogs here. He screams and gets distressed if we try to crate him so pinning the leg might not be possible. It might be that we will have to find another foster home which can limit his manic ness and with no dogs to tempt him to play. Is such a shame as he loves other dogs and just wants to play play play with.

He is such a cheeky little fella with a heart of gold. Despite his ordeal he has no malice towards people and loves everyone

It is going to be an expensive long haul for this wee man and I just keep my fingers crossed we can save his leg and find him a loving caring home. Ros uses all her own money so will mean we will not be able to help out as many dogs in the future but how could we let this poor pup suffer any more. He deserves a chance

How anyone could do this to a poor defensless puppy is beyond me :(

Has anyone else ever had a pup with a broken leg. What was done to fix it and any advice as to how we can make the wee fella get through this ordeal?

The friend made us promise not to phone the RSPCA as it would come back to him that he was the one to pen his mouth.

We are hoping to persuade my nan and grandad to foster him while he undergo's treatment. We are just waiting back from the vets to hear what this will be..

Kaiser has just gone to my nan and grandads to see if they can cope with him. If sucessful we would hope he can stay there to recover or until a new home can be found. He really needs to stay in foster on the Wirral as I am sure he will need frequent visits to the vets in Hoylake. Wirral animal welfare have offered to pay the vet fees which we are ever so grateful to them for as I am sure it is likely to be expensive :( am just uploading some more photos and hopefully I will get them on here after work tonight (11pm ish)

Thanks everyone!!

Hope this fella makes a full recovery - well dont to Wirral animal welfare for taking care of the vets bills (thats one less thing to worry about!) and also good luck to your grandparents,I hope the littlefella makes it easy for themto keep him til a forever home can be found

Bless him, I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

If it's anyhelp, 16 years ago, my oldie broke her elbow joint - she tripped over a clump of grass in the garden when she was about the same age as this fella. The break was operated on and fixed with 'metal work' as it was potentially very unstable - it couldn't be just plastered. She made a good recovery, although always favours that leg, and was never going to be the agility dog I'd hoped for. I do wish now I'd had a better idea of physiotherapy, as the leg was never 'strong' - some days are better than others, but I guess that's how it is when you're 16. It certainly never stopped her doing anything she wanted to do.
