Mac was an innocent one year old pedigree golden retriever dog.

He would have had many years ahead in him until October 2006, when he was brutally abused and murdered.

In what was probably one of the most horrific episodes one could witness, poor Mac was hung by his collar, kicked with steel toecap boots, and hit with a boulder which resulted in his death from horrific injuries of the following nature: Severe bruising and swelling to the back, two broken ribs and bleeding to the lungs and brain.

The sicko that killed this defenseless animal, William David Streeter, of Coleraine, only got a six month prison sentence for this horrific murder of a "much loved family pet".

So, in honour of Mac, this website http://www.petitiononline.com/j4mac/ intends to demand longer sentences for people that abuse and murder animals. Murdering a human that in some cases can defend themselves gets you 25 years. Murdering a one year old dog that couldn't defend itself, 6 months. Six months for taking away an innocent dog's life. Its got to change, and NOW

One can only 'hope' that being hung by his collar made him pass out :( Run free Mac.

I was watching Animal Cops, Houston the other day and a woman had let two horses starve to the point where one collapsed and had to be put to sleep, fecking b*tch. I can't remember how long she got in prison, but for the first three days she was only fed bread and water to make her feel what it was like to go without and for the rest of her stay, she had to have pictures of the horses up in her cell. It still doesn't go far enough but I thought it was a step in the right direction.

I saw that Rudi - I think the way they deal with people who abuse animals is far, far better than we do it here.

The judges give out sentences that reflect the severity of the abuse. Here we have the rspca and they have little or no power.

I remember the case where a baby monkey had been removed from it's mother. The rspca got involved and asked Jim and Alison Cronin to assist and take the family - Mum and baby and Dad. A raid was staged and the three monkeys were taken to monkey world and kept together as a family and they thrived. It went to court and the judge gave the family back to the original owner.
