It's my lovely boy's gotcha day today (Monday)

I can still remember the day we visited him in his previous home (he was rehomed privately) to see how he got on with Cassie – the wall of death he did around the room should perhaps have served as a warning  but we brought him home anyway.

I asked about his recall and was told when he got out of the garden and ran around the estate, he always came back  . He had so much energy, that we did what you're not supposed to do with a new dog and took him to the park the next morning and let him off. One of my earliest memories of him is his alien poo (when I bent down to pick up his first poo at the park, a small rubber alien was attached! Must have belonged to one of the kids in the home – and he didn't come with any toys :( so who can blame him for helping himself really). We've rectified the toy-deficit now

Max has caused me many tears – many of which were love and laughter – and some erm, weren't. I remember buying a TTouch book years ago as I thought that might help him. The book was smaller than I was expecting and the postman managed to get it through the letter box while I was out. Max had eaten half of it by the time I got home. I figured he wasn't overly keen on me trying TTouch at that point in time

Then there was the time he was watching a cat from the upstairs bedroom window in our last house. He decided to jump at the cat – breaking the window but fortunately I somehow managed to stop him flying through the broken window  I managed to get someone out to fix the window that afternoon and as I knew Max wouldn't be very popular with Daddy, managed to get the window guy to lie with me and pretend it was me slamming the window too hard that had broken it! We did confess at a later date.

I don't think he was socialised well as a puppy, before we got him, and he'd had at least two homes, after the breeder, before he arrived with us. He loves the sound of his own voice and is still a work in progress but I adore him – I can't put into words just how much he means to me. He has frustrated me on many occasions, and me him, I'm sure, but I just can't imagine life without him and I know, at some point in the future which doesn't bear thinking about, I will seek out another "Max" because without him, life would be dull.
