  1. Hi guys We just had a thunderstorm but switched off the PC on the unit and at the wall, but not immediatetely, after couple minutes. Just gone to switch PC back on (currently using old dodgy laptop), and the unit shouts an audio message "system failed CPU test". No boot up, nada. Any ideas? Was it the thunderstorm`? Is she completely dead_ Can i replace the CPU_which bit is the CPU. thank you in advance.
  2. if she doesnt intend bringing kitten back into uk for rest of its life, she can use the passport after about a month. otherwise its the full 6 months wait.
  3. 2006 - oh yeh! whoops! i thought it sounded odd, as having watched the contro section, i was surprised their were topics uncomfortable for fugees. cheers PS - seems to be with this new board Im noticing way more parts of the forum that didnt register before, which is good
  4. we'd been having all that for months. plus the green bar taking ages on links. however, this has all stopped since yesterday with the introduction of the new board. which is great. cheers rick
  5. i think its a good idea. but im a curious bugger, so what are the sort of topics that wouldn't go well on this board?
  6. if Max is ok with it (???) and it doesn't indicate a bigger problem, then I wouldnt regard it an issue.
  7. cheers for elaborating. all sounds great.
  8. Hi Pingu Hi Pingu Refuge often takes a while to load on our PC. Sometimes we get a retry link message. Its been on and off that way for a long while now. Will be good if the new board kills that bug. Another forum I am on had a thread discussing if people would like a rep system, but the general opinion was it would be abused for personal grievance.
  9. I am pretty sure it can't be treated, although in some cases there may be an option if surgery.... unless I am confusing it with one of the other hip-problems. Try googling it for more info. She is on painkillers, so should be more comfortable now, and hopefully once you have spoken to the vet, you will know more about long term prognosis and management. Lexus has been diagnosed with CDRM, and although it eventually leaves her with no feeling in the back end, at least she has no pain with it... it is all progressing a bit faster than we'd like though, although for now, only affects her right hind leg. Dogs are put on this earth to worry us, I swear!
  10. very very good, although i have already worked out whats going, so not much sense of mystery.
  11. I started a thread just like this on another forum. I didnt even mention peadophilia, as i dont believe he was, albeit a bit dodgy. My thread was very reasonable, an open discussion on the issues of MJ's death, celebrity worship, and religious comparisons. It was all going nicely, good few interesting posts, also talking about Diana, Kurt Cobain, etc. Happens the forum owner is a MJ worshipper. As soon as he logged on, thread locked, hostile insults, even a written warning ! There really is something not quite right about these people MJ IS Jesus to them! What is scary is otherwise, in any other time of the day, they are very intelligent normal older people. Often even anti-religion! It would be a lot more understandable if it was teenage girl mania!
  12. tha'ts more a reflection on the weirdness of his fans, whom are mourning him like their deceased messiah
  13. ugh. Earth Song to me represents everything that went bad about MJ. turgid, bland, past his prime, buying in to his own Jesus image, stadium rock appeal, trying to be white. MJ was his best J5 thru to Thriller when he was a cool, funky, black dude. Triller, Dont Stop To You Get Enough, I Want You back. Brilliant tunes.
  14. i have this problem some mornings when im half asleep, fall over my trousers, cant find my socks, etc, then get a right mood on....
  15. thats all great advice thanx folks
  16. thanx whizz europ assistance is looking promising
  17. Hello guys can people tell me which car breakdown they would recommend, that would also include european travel - bearing in mind we will have 3 bigger dogs. i understand the RAC/AA/Green flag have their own fleet of breakdown vehicles, whereas the other companies sub contract to independents? does that make much of a difference, and if your RAC/AA/Green flag cover included europe, wouldnt those companies also be using independents anyway? many thanks martin v
  18. is it horley rescue? http://www.horleyrescue.com/index.php
  19. Hi nettie Re your first paragragh, that's what the Pru guy told me. My policy book also states: Under "Territorial limits and using your car abroad" - 'this policy provides the minimum cover you need by law to use your car in the EU'. I have now found out the minimum cover for car insurance in the EU is third party However, i since checked the net, and found this site: http://www.europa.eu/abc/travel/gettingthere/index_en.htm This talks about a green card, which i should contact my insurance company about! So back to the ever unhelpful pru helpline, who never mentioned this! Much more helpful guy this time. My policy certificate does have a page for 'European Cover' (which is same as having a green card apparently) and the man has now said i will be comprehensive in Holland, Germany, and DK, as that is what i have in UK. Although, he couldn't send me this in writing, and its not the wording on the certificate. How do i confirm this is true Nettie? Also, brilliant tip about breakdown cover - can you recommend anyone? many thanks, martin
  20. Hi folks Just got off the phone to the very useless Prudential Helpline Simple question, is my car insurance covered for driving in holland, germany, and denmark? A: Yes Q: what does that cover me for? A: the legal minimum for car insurance in that country! Q: What does that mean! A: the legal minimum for car insurance in that country! Q: Yes - i know that. But what does it mean in reality! A: the legal minimum for car insurance in that country! After this numpty repeating this useless phrase over and over and totally not getting the point, i asked, where do you find out what is the legal minimum for insurance in holland, Germany, and denmark. His answer: dont know Eventually, i hung up, after telling him his service is poor. This is the helpline to ask about things in my policy, at the least if he doesn't have the info, he ought to be able to tell me where to get to get the info, epsecially as im paying to use the helpline....money under false pretences! So, much more helpful and wiser fugees, where and how can I find out what is the legal minimum for car insurance in Holland, germany and denmark, as us lot are off on our hols next week. cheers, martin
