  1. Ermmmmm... could someone tell me what forum the polls are in please? - I seem to have lost them Ta ETA: I've found it now........No thanks to Ms Bones!
  2. OK - we've done the chocolate shopping..... Two hosties seem to have counted themselves out? ('though one I'm not convinced about) Who's most open to corruption? (brace yourselves.....I think I feel a poll coming on......)
  3. Absolutely not!! No reputable rescue ( or foster carer) would even consider it!! Just think how they might turn out?!
  4. Thinking of you all Run free Bear
  5. Yep, we used to do those ...and they're still doing the rounds now..my son has them. British Bulldog..... Rugby without the odd shaped balls and no rules! Run -outs, 40 /40, and leap frog....... and grass fights! (when the council used to come and cut the grass - about this time of year), and you'd end up with it stuffed down your back, your knickers, and just about every visible orifice
  6. I can probably sort something out with regards to the first two, but will be passing on the third option. Since it was Andrew's eyes which lit up when he saw 'Angel Delight', and him who wants to bid.... he might agree to the first (so long as chocolate isn't involved), the second is a complete 'NO', and you might want to re-consider the third option (since he's 16) OK - Next question........how do we know which hosties to try to bribe?
  7. Please can we have a clue how to go about bribing the mods...are threats sufficient or do we need to have to crack open our money boxes? (Andrew says he will pay dearly for one containing Angel Delight - specially if it's chocolate flavoured)
  8. (just need to stretch her ears a little bit )

  11. I felt like you at one time Cheryl, but I changed my mind when Andrew was still quite young. I think I originally felt that because I was anti-war and stuff, I didn't think it was appropriate guns should be used as toys. But then, I thought of my two brothers, and while they were 'orrible to me when I was little, they have actually turned out to be quite reasonable people, despite being allowed to play with guns, bows and arrows, and the like, so I changed my mind. Funnily enough, Andrew never bothered with them anyway, he much prefered Lego, Spaceships, and dolls. What I do have an issue with now though is his school making participation in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) compulsary (from year 8 - 10inc.), and part of their curriculum. This includes teaching 12/13 year olds how to assemble and fire rifles. For the life of me, I cannot see how this activity improves anything they need for their future, unless of course, they intend joining the armed forces?
  12. I agree with you on lots of your points Cycas, but.......... it seems that something has to happen to try and prevent silly people placing more daft restrictions on breeds etc., so we have to begin somewhere. Like I said, I've no doubt that there will be many problems along the way, but if people are determined, then it (or something like it), could work. I wonder what people's views were when it was announced that you had to have a licence to be able to drive, and then (shock, horror), you also had to pass a test to show you were capable of driving ( oh, I can hear my step-dad going on about it as I type)! I can remember when it became compulsary to wear a crash helmet, and then wear seat belts. Sooooo many people were going to defy the new law (and did initially), but now the vast majority conform. Yes, there are those who will never bother with a driving licence, or wear a seat belt, register their car to the correct address, or insure it, and of course there will be those who will never comply with any law concerning dogs (or anything else). Of all people, I am usually the one who would moan about being made to do anything, and certainly when it comes to being told that I should train my dogs etc. etc., but it seems that something quite radical may need to be done / suggested to encourage the government to consider (a) re-opening the register initially, and (b) removing the ban on any breed of dog. It would be great to have a magic solution, but I don't.......... do you have any ideas then?
  13. Just read the piece in the Sun and I agree that the lady talks sense! I can also see where 'Rip and Cap' is coming from (my, I'm being nice today)! I think all dogs and their people should undertake some kind of formal training, and am liking Ingrids idea of a kind of birth / registration certificate for every dog. Yes, there would be a multitude of issues to sort out, and of course there would always be people who stuck their fingers up to it, but as in all things, you have to start somewhere. I'm not sure if this discussion is going down a different route to Ms Stillwell's original article... Should we start a new thread?
  14. I shall be happy when son returns to school next Tuesday. He's been home for 3 weeks and is driving me NUTS!
  15. Well, I still thnik it must be you who's a bit wierd I am muchly liking the noo rustic skin and it's not making my computer go funny (so pleeze don't upset the hamsters or they'll take it away) - and perhaps me with it?
  16. ..........and I don't think they have many calories either?
  17. Well done you guys! I was told that it takes 3 days for the nicotine to completely leave your system, and thats when it can catch some people, 'cause that's when your body / brain / whatever starts screaming out for the nasty niccy stuff to be replenished. So, be on your guard
  18. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY GIRL Di, you should have really posted this in the 'Dangerous Dogs' forum!!
