  1. Will try to help where I/we can, transport (may need to ask for diesel costs) home visits, trying to suggest others who could help a particular dog. Good luck with this new venture.
  2. Mel, so sorry to hear your sad news, you will feel it after such a long time together. Run free of any constraints at the Bridge beautiful boy.
  3. My son has posted a picture and information about the Land Rover and trailer on a tree surgeons' forum. They are quite keen on hearing about kit that gets stolen, as many of them have had it happen to them. Delighted to hear the BC is home safely.
  4. So sorry to hear about Joe's passing. But what a lovely tribute you have paid to him, as well as others on here too. I have to say I am really humbled by stories of courage I read about animals on here.
  5. This sounds a good deal, but are we not covered on our house insurance policies (contents)? Thanks.
  6. Jake goes swimming where Ishkha goes. We went for our weekly swim today, and I mentioned it to the lady there, and she said he goes there too.
  7. It is at times like this that words are not enough. But please remember that we are all thinking of you and your beautiful girl. We know your heart will be aching, and your head in a spin. Have one of these from us all on here.
  8. No this happened a couple of weeks ago.
  9. I am sorry to hear your sad news. We also had a murder a mile or two away from us, and I was very shocked to hear, that the murder was at the same schools as my children. His parents are lovely people and I really feel for them too. I used to talk to his Mum in the playground, and his Dad if I met him in the street. I have not heard why it happened. The lad who is around 22 years old stabbed an older man about 6 times. He has been remanded in custody until the Crown Court hearing in Birmingham on June the 8th I believe. I suppose their lives feel as if they are on hold until then.
  10. Crikey, a lot of folk need one of these at the moment Please take care all of you.
  11. So sorry to hear your news. You did do the right thing by him. I think you did really well keeping him going for so long. Please take care, it has been a rotten day for you.
  12. What a day, what terrible news for you both. Please stay strong for him, and enjoy the good times you have now.
  13. You obviously know in your heart what has to be done for her sake. As we all know it is a very important decision, and not an easy one. We all hope that these things are just a blip and things will get better, and then they don't. My rescue colleague and I have just had to make that decision today about a 2 year old cat, who had recently had kittens about 10 days ago. The owner had not sought help in time, and we were trying to save her. The vet spayed her yesterday to try to remove the massive infection, but today her lungs were getting worse with possibly something else that would indicate one of the major cat killer diseases. Tests are being carried out on her, now she is at peace. We all know how you are feeling, as most of us have been there too, and at this moment it is not a nice place to be. All I can say is remember the good times. Take care.
  14. Congratulations to Tess and you!
  15. OH said that is better than finding half a slug. If in France you get charged more because they are called escargot!
  16. The two dogs concerned were wearing half check type collars, of man made construction (not leather). But they are the sort that go over the head, and then you adjust to suit the size of your dog, there is no quick release bit to them. Even if they had a clip to them, who is to say it was accessible at that precise moment? I feel a little better today, as it clearly shook me yesterday. Thanks for all your help.
  17. I think Wolfie had got his mouth wrapped in the collar, and then one of them had rolled over as they were playing. Ishkha came over to say get off my pal, and was about to sort poor Bella out. Of course, I stepped in, and my son put her in the hall while we sorted the other two out. I have to say the scissors were no good really, and only a good sharp knife would have done the trick if cutting had been the only way. Luckily, whilst he was swearing under his breath because the scissors were not effective quickly enough, I took a few deep breaths and had a good close look and managed to un-hook and release them. Even now I feel a little shaken, and I have to out and scan and bring in a stray cat. Perhaps it will take my mind off it. I will remove Wolfie's collar before I go out!
  18. Phew! What a good job I was in the same room just now! Wolfie and Bella were playing in the kitchen with me here on the pc. Then all of a sudden Ishkha took leave of her senses and started to attack Bella. It was because Bella didn't do the usual submissive thing and walk away from Wolfie, that it started to become a bullying thing. I quickly realised that Wolfie and Bella were stuck together with their collars. So whilst my son tried to cut off one of the collars, I managed to disentangle them from each other. Bella has a couple of grazes on her, but nothing serious. I have removed Bella's collar. Does anyone have any collar recommendations for me, as I realise they have to have a collar on to wear a dog tag and be legal outside our property? It is the first time I have had this happen, and am thankful that I was home, as I could have come home to at least one dead dog.
  19. What a terrible shock for you and his family. I am glad you made him laugh and were his friend.
  20. We are all so sorry to hear your sad news. But please take her on one of your planned walks as soon as you and she feels able. Take lots of 'photographs, and a warm coat for you and her if she needs it!
  21. Thinking of you both tomorrow. She is gorgeous.
  22. Poor dog - poor your, poorer bank balance. How flipping frustrating for you all.
  23. Here is Ishkha having her first swim in the pool tonight. She actually had another swim after a short rest, for a slightly longer time. The tricky bit was encouraging her to descend the ramp. We were kept quite busy encouraging her by walking quickly around the side of the pool. I don't think she will be too stiff tomorrow hopefully.
  24. Andrea if you knew what I was like with technology! I think I get it from my Mum, she always used to say about me to other people, "Oh! She is very mechanically minded" - whatever that means! I suppose she could have meant that at a young age I had more of a clue than she did which was clueless (now not on this Earth due to Alzheimers). If you remember I couldn't even get back on this site after forgetting what I called myself, and after we changed our email account! I don't even know how to use the camera, let alone get the data downloaded onto Picasa! I have to concentrate on looking after the animals, I am safer there, apart from what happened today. It was classic, I would have been able to show you all, but the kittens had knocked the cctv camera off the television, so it was not captured! Such a shame, it was definitely a "You've been framed" moment! I was carrying a litter tray back from the bin in the cat lounge, and I accidently trod on the tray I carry their food on. So one leg went one way, a dish on the tray broke, I tripped over the Miele Cat Dog vacuum, and the tray of wood pellet litter (luckily fairly clean) flew up into the air as did my glasses. If I hadn't have had the glasses on, I probably would have been better in control, as they are just reading glasses, and doing nomral things with them on is silly really. Then I was so annoyed with myself, rather than cry, I was that thankfull that I was not hurt, I just stood there and had a mad fit of the giggles for ages! I think you have to laugh at yourself sometimes.
