  1. Silentnight is not such a bad idea, Over a certain weight you do need the two pice build up. Talk to the people that sell orthopeadic beds for people , they sometimes get part exchanged older bed., that the sell of cheap, You may have to cyt the legs off.
  2. Are you any good at craft type things? You need an old type rubber airbed split down the side and cram in a piece of 4inch expanded foam wrapped in a single bed memory foam. Eylets and a stout cord can be used for closure . Get a carpentry type to make up a sturdy wooden frame with low legs and weave on a full base of pirelli strapping high grade. You need a combination of give , from the base and gentle support from the foam. Airbed rubberized canvas is preatty hardwearing and easy to clean, Most of the wear will be taken up by the faom , which can be replaced as and when.
  3. Teddy still looking for employment has a go at valetting. But prefers to loll
  4. I always try to relate to my neighbours regardless of how often they cross the road, or try to get me an ASBO., even the ones that claim that their God doesnt want them to live near me or my kind. I just point out that they are breaking society by not cleaning up after themselves, and by hating people and my God, Anubis isnt am Abrahamic one so we dont do confrontation or wars
  5. Would love to help ( ( even if its only financially as it fits our main area of activity - crime and homlessness ) but sadly we have never been able to mesh our system to work with that of RHU. ( with my "wanted " prisoners and homeless dogs hat on.)
  6. I cant edit so excuse the messy posting
  7. Teddy Texas was so good helping White Van Mum to clean the van he had a day out in Coventry. He likes to small all of the different dogs that have been in it , so its not much of a chore. White Van mum has the photos so they might be here tomorrow. She has put his name on the van . he is very chuffed. On the way we wwent to the tip and TT climbed in the back while unloading not a good idea as he was harnessed in. He went to the memorial park tried to make friends with a beagle boy who ignored him and shouted at a nice gril collies type ( ?) and got his long lead wrapped lots of trees. Then we went to the pet shop , the one he cant go in and tried to make friends with a puppy that just hid behind his mums legs and cowered, Then we went to B and Q because Daftdads is fixing the hole in the landing now that TT has removed the carpet , but not fallen through the hole. Somepeople said he was really handsome and had lovely colouring but they didnt try to stroke him, They once had a staffy cross so they know. Then we all came home and Teddt Texas had Wainwrights Tripe and rice meat with Salmon and potato biscuits, which is his most favourite of all times, . But then to really spoil a lovely day White Van Mum a nd Daftlad took TT into the garden and held him down , rubbed smelly stuff into him with a horrible big sponge thing and then made him wet, they are really horrid sometimes, but tdo like his fur when it is soft and silky. And they cleaned the garden up a lot so that TT can now run around a proper safe hurtling at speed routes with jumps and nothing to knock over or break

  9. I think this is a wonderful idea. I have a tree at the arboretum for my parents. But I might be wrong but I think they dont allow dogs.
  10. Yes have to agree that you did the right thing ( had there bee no mentioned of the wife still being functionable , perhaps a different matter) . I also have to agreee with the thought that these people should get to know their neighbours a little better. It really don't take much effort just to know a few basic facts about a neighbour. It also promotes a sense of community ( and if everyone is nosey enough to form a Crimewatch area you get money off your insurance premiums.) If more did this we wouldnt hear about people dying alone and being found five years later, or poor dogs standing over beloveds fo days. Tell them to stop being " takes" and start giving something to community.
  11. Circumstances seem a bit iffy. Could the council be trying to wriggle around their obligations re pets of those going in to care?
  12. If you cant find one to borrow one.. Machine Mart the national tool store stocks them . Maybe Gateshead is yor nearest My link The squirrell size is £25. These traps are fine for private property but not strong enough for meddling or vanadlaism. There is a firm near me that makes them , if you dont get sorted quickly.
  13. Well I am still holding outpretty well, things are on the look up. I have started to sort out being able to claim some benefits next month if I really need it, and can prove how low my income is ( !!!). Teddy Texas will only eat "First Class" chicken dishes, although he would prefer Rabbit. No doubt he would actually eat something else but I couldnt live though the way he loooks at me. 75 p a go , with a big hadnful of organis brown rice. I have got the cost of my own meals down to the same cost thanks to Sainsbury's cheap brand of ready meals,, which are excellent---cottage pie, lasagne etc helps with the diet followed by an 12p rice pudding, I have a bread machine so bake all of my own bread ,, when I can be bothered ( a bit of a saving there)' I also get the odd treat from allotment owners or the people who raid the out of date stuff from behind the supermarkets----- I need to get a juicer, so that I can make my own cider ( at this time of years lots of apples going to waste both there and stil on the trees in the park. Also damsond. cherries and plumb line the canal around the back,,, scrumping with a very big basket. I am thinking about letting out a room when I have got it emptied. I dont know if I can find someone who is TT friendly or if i should seek someone with their own dog. I am collecting various old materials and building a hot water device in the greenhouse, which gets far too hot at times.in direct sunlight.. This years Strawbs were good but the cucumbers and tomatoes were a waste of time. Reversed radiators to take the heat out should help. I am hoping to sell a couple of electronic organs and buy a woodburning stove, before the winter. and a device for the fridge.
  14. Sadly Teddy Texas doesnt bark to communicate , he uses his ears in a kind of doggy semaphore thing. I discovered this one day whilst messing about holding my hands by the side of my hand and waggling them willy nilly, I must have " said " something wrong as he went off in a huff and sulked for two days (not quite collies record but near enough). Anyway this fool has no more money having bought -- machine for cleaning carpets, a light for sterilising bedding and a machine for gassing allergens ..oh and a trolley because of the amount of stuff we have to take on a long walk. I am saving up for a porch ---TT doesnt do rain. i would love to hear him tell me how much he appreciates all of this, ( even in Japanese) but I am not keeping my fingers crossed for too long.
  15. Do you know where and when the PM took place? Thats your starting point. Remember addresses change and registration areas can be difficult,
  16. Well we all moved downstairs, while working around the house with the new toy of the carpetcleaning variety...wow it gets enoug muck out of the carpets to sell as compost, no matter how many times I do them. Teddy Texas is quite happy to have his day bed in use as a night bed as it means so much more room, and daytime tv reception is a lot better. He is scratting a lot less, but i havent really done anything except the cleaning. Trouble is he has found the button that switches it off. I cant find the camera again.
  17. Avoid putting chemicals into sensitive skinparts its just continues the cycle.. You need UV treatment either from a practioner or via a "Biostick " ( I think these are now available here without import duties......)

    Poor Jem

Oh dear so sad. But you did your best for him, wonderfully. Jude was really touched by him. ( wiil ring her , hopefully she hasnt logged on yet)
  19. I have arrangements in place and am subjected to a daily phone check. Hopefully Teddy Texas will not have to stand over my body for a week ( mind you he does like his meals on time so ther emay be not trace of me) I dont think people are worried enoug about thise.. Nobody seems to be taking any basic precautions. Birmingham has given up with attempts to do anything.. People here like to live in filth. I think they should panic. Me and Teddy are offerring an anti swine flu spraying service for only £20 or less on a regula basis around the neighbourhood
  20. Thanks I might try that ! Is it safe for humans and plants. I have to ask because bathing TT is an epic adventure, because of his dislike of getting wet. Two humans and half the garden get wet before anything touchs him. I have been alternating Tea tree oil all over with Ew5 anti=itch cream on the naked parts. This letter worked wonders when he had a real go at his chest.
  21. Round here its a sign they have just been emptied by thieves.
  22. I dont get to meet many farmers and such, being a townie, these days. This may be a good as I hate farming and want to keep as far as possible from it . The biggest mistake of my life---agricultural college ---I still have nightmares about relief milking and tractors and such, and thats before I get started on the eco-political aspects.
  23. We have a caravan. We got it so that we can do shows and displays of basketmaking, now that we are far to geriatric to climb in and out of small tents on the gound. Currently, we dont have that many show that are far enough away or long enough to warrant using it; and getting days off is a problem we all have. There may be more show as we expand doing charitable stuff. We need somewhere to keep it. Some where between Manchester and Birmingham would be ideal. So if you are a refuge, kennels, or what ever that has space... please think if you can help. In return we can offer.... use of the caravan when not in use by us, a long weekend or two when we visit you and do any odd jobs tha you need---- we have builders as well as equipment for yard power washing. Open to all kinds of suggestions.
  24. Teddy Texas wasnt well last night. As usual he went up to bed around 6.00, and came down a couple of times for a quick check around , because it was Tripe day and sometimes there was MORE. Eventually when I staggered up to join him he was well into Chewy but had the odd doze. I thought at first he had got a bit of Chewy stuck m when he started gasping and wretching. Any way he started running around coughing and such and eventually ended up in the living room, me following trying to think how t odo the Heinlich manouvre on a Staffy Cross-- sorry a Cross Staffy Cross. He was sick. Big chunky sick.. All of that could not have come out of such a small dog sick... Ekk I am leaving that til the morning sick.. I am glad I bought a big shovel yesterday for the litter picking sick. "Teddy if you love me this will miraculously disappear" But he was still choking so I decide I ought to investigate, fingers in mouth peering down throat and such. Poking around I get a big glob of semi liquid ....er stuff. Its plastic and white. Only thing it can be is one of those little plastystyreney things Ebay people use for packing . I have noticed beforer that they are dangerously readily dissolvable in canine spit. I had thrown some out earlier but had thought I was careful ( TT had bounced on the plastic sacks in the hall) Well after my discussion with the cleaning people I had been dithering about a carpet cleaner--- it arrives tomorrow ---. TT believes in synchronicity. I think we may be offering a car valet service as a prize in some rescue's auctions very soon !!!!!!! I have put off the gas /uv thing until one of the plastics puts the limit up again. I have to try and fit it in with the shop front cleaning that I am taking up... ( a week after TT arrived ..the world fell apart --household income disappearred so both he and me have to find ways of supporting ourslves and has he requires constant company there isnt a big choice...he is already doing better than me!!) Today Teddy texas is bouncing about. Puppy mode But we are not speaking ; he has piddled in the stillroom twice.....because it was raining! I have put the gazebo up in front of the green house to give him a good cover, but he cannot do the gap between there and the back door---- a terrifying 5 foot journey for a dog that so dislikes rain ( water) oooh and we have our first booking for valetting a van----one that smells of lots of different dogs---poor homeless ill fed pooches none of whom is as lucky as TT, as I keep telling him when he does a sniff examination of the van. He just cops a deaf un!! Ungrateful **********
