  1. My old dog had a stroke and lived to 17 so heres hoping Gracie has many years to come. to you all.
  2. Hi I don't know the history of Ollie as have just seen this thread but our vet prescribed Vivitonin for our old dog, Roxy, as it aids with confusion. She was barking a lot and staring into space as well. We had a bit of a nightmare trying to get her to take her pills as well and we tried peanut butter which went down a treat. We put her pill in a small dollup of it and she loved it (not too much as it is quite rich and gave her the runs once when we gave her too much) Once once she realised that a pill was in it it was too sticky for her to spit out! for Ollie and you, I know its horrible when your loved pet is not well.
  3. Safe journey Patch - hope the other side is full of lovely walks and cuddles for you x
  4. Belated birthday wishes Joe - you're a lovely boy . And well done Joe's mummy for looking after him so well after such a horrible start in life.
  5. Thank you. Yes this is it. I'm sure I saw earlier that someone had one of those necklaces on this post so if you have a look yourself, perhaps you could pm the person who posted re it.
  6. Hi Our lovely dog, Roxy, went to the Rainbow Bridge last Friday. Ive been wondering what to do with her ashes and this afternoon I saw a post on OC website about what to do with a pets ashes. There were lots of helpful and comforting entries however I can't find it again. Please can someone redirect me.
  7. Have just lit a candle for our Roxy who went to the bridge last Friday.
  8. Hi I would have sent you a pm but not sure how to do it - don't know if you have tried a website called Rescue Helpers Unite (put those words into google and it will find the site for you) but they are very good and may be able to help. Good luck
  9. I can completely identify with you. Our newest addition to the family, Roxy, sleeps most of the day as well but then wakes up a minimum of once during the night (last night it was four times) and then shes up and alert again at 5am for about an hour or so until she goes back to sleep. Each time I have to come downstairs to let her out and/or comfort her as she barks when she wakes until I come down. Problem is shes 17 and is a bit senile so there's nothing that can be done about it really (although shes recently started on some meds to aid her confusion) so now I feel like I spend most nights waiting and listening for her barking as I'm scared that I won't hear her. On the odd occasion she sleeps longer than 5am, my other dog gets me up!
  10. Can anyone tell me if the sizes of the hooded sweatshirts are quite generous as that small sized navy one pictured looks quite roomy - might be just that the model is petite but only asking as am about to order one myself and can't decide what size to order. Also are they stretchy at all?
  11. Congratulations to Ellie and Alan, both very deserving winnners. What a sad start Ellie had but so pleased for her that she found such a loving home where she has obviously thrived.Looking forward to hearing Alan and the other regional winners stories.
  12. Amy That is absolutely gorgeous and fab and made me feel like blubbing a bit as well. Well done and I'm so impressed at you for being able to do all that sprinkly sparkly stuff and fireworks on each of the dogs as well! Would there be any way you could email it to me as well as I would love to use it over here (I'm the co-ordinator for Surrey)to help publicise the OC. xxx
  13. Hi have just voted as well - hes still ahead but do let us know the end result. Will keep fingers crossed until then!
  14. Count me in, not sure how to pm you though so maybe you could pm me?
  15. Hi I m fairly new to the Oldies Club. Although Im the volunteer co-ordinator for Surrey, I haven't really posted that much myself to date, although I enjoy reading other peoples posts and Im sure I will post more in the future. Not really sure if I should put this in this forum as I'm aware that there is a specific forum for poundies in danger of being put to sleep and also 2 of the dogs aren't oldies, however, I've been sent pictures of these dogs and now Ive seen them and know about them, I feel I must do all I can to find them a home before their time runs out on Monday. All of them are deserving of a home but the fact that one of the dogs is a puppy really upsets me. These dogs are all strays that were picked up in Croydon and are now in kennels in Kent. I do have photos I can send anyone who is interested, however, I don't know how to attach them to this post so I'm just going to put the descriptions for now. If anyone can offer any of these dogs a home, or knows anyone who can offer them a home, please ring Brady at the Kennels (01959 570 293)or pm me and I will contact him on your behalf. <H2 style="MARGIN: 0cm 0cm 0pt"> </H2>"Cher" - Docked Blck/Tan Adult Female Rockweiller, approx. 4 years old. Has been available since 6.11.08Good bodily condition - very friendly girl – very playful - loves a ball, raggy and treats !! Knows Sit/down and gives paw. Has had some formal training. Very sociable girl .Good with male dogs – untested with others but think she should be OK. Not tested with cats either – sorry bit of a rush today!!. This dog would make a lovely pet dog – she came in together with Sonny, below who we think is her pup. "Sonny" - Undocked Black/Tan Rotty 9m pup Entire Male Has been available since 6.11.08 Good bodily condition Nice young puppy – will need training though ! Does Sit and loves a ball/tuggee. He's a bit of a handful in as much as he doesn't know much with regard to training but he's friendly enough and if someone puts the time in, he will be a super dog. He's good with female dogs – untested on males or cats I'm afraid. We feel sure his mum is C142A above. They were both supposedly found as strays but its more likely that the previous owner just couldn't keep them anymore and wanted them to be rehomed anyway. These two dogs look lovely in their photographs with super glossy coats, am happy to email to anyone who is interested. The third dog has been named "Old Bugger" due to his grumpy nature, however the kennels seem very fond of him and have kept him for longer than they are meant to to try to find him a home,so he can't be that grumpy! He is Dk Brindle/Wht Staffie Entire Male Senior dog 7+ years and has been available since 30.10.08 Doesn't seem to know many commands but likes treats and will give "Five" for them!! In good bodily condition. Has a few naughty traits – will chew the lead – if allowed! - and is not particularly with dogs or cats !! Friendly with people but will need a firm hand we think- just needs an understanding home for the rest of his days. This poor wee man looks lovely too and again I have a photo if anyone is interested. As you can see, I've just added the details the kennels provided me with for the dogs. Sorry if I upset anyone by including this in this forum as well.
  16. No 1 for me too - what a sweetheart!
  17. I'm sure they didn't mean anything by it and it was simply a case of them being a bit thoughtless - they probably knew you were working late, didn't like pizza etc and just assumed that you wouldn't be interested in going but I understand what you mean about it would have been nice to be asked - I'm sure it was nothing personal though and they'd feel terrible if they realised they'd upset you inadvertently.
  18. I was so touched to hear what you are going through, Kathy. Our thoughts are with you and sending you another big hug at this difficult time.
  19. Hi Great to hear so many people coming on board already to help! Just thought I'd send out a loud shout for any would be volunteers out in my area (Surrey), or alternatively anyone nearby in Kent would also be very welcome.
  20. Hi I emailed the Oldies via the recommended link - I would like to take on the role of co-ordinator for the South East and have put my contact details on my email. I am working full time as well but would be able to do this in my free time. Look forward to hearing from you.
