  1. He looks gorgeous and is obviously going to be a stunner once he is fully fit and healthy again. You would think pure greyhound though if it were not for those paws and what looks to be a fluffier tail than a grey would have.
  2. Well it finally stopped raining so tried to get some pics/video of Bess. Now I can't download them onto my computer as the camera lead has disappeared (wonder which dog ate that ) Daren't risk trying with new camera as my computer is playing up today and IE won't load at all so I think trying something new will probably foul it all up completely. Bess has had two consecutive dry nights which is good. Now we need her to settle more through the day so we don't have to take her out every time she gets up and wanders round which is at least every hour. She is such a sweet little soul bumbling along behind anything that moves so fingers crossed she is going to be OK in a few more days when she feels more at home.

    Everything crossed for Kizzy!
  4. Sorry no pics yet. It has been hectic today and we seem to have spent most of it taking out one dog or another!! Now of course it is raining again, my camera is no good indoors and it is forecast to be wet most of tomorrow too.
  5. Isn't she just beautiful! Someone, somewhere is going to be a very proud new mum I reckon!
  6. Well done handsome boy! But definitely no more than you deserve!! Nothing like keeping mum happy either so I hope you got some good rewards for that.
  7. I'm sure you will all be pleased to know Bess slept last night from 10.30 till 6am with no problems. Hopefully this will be the norm for her once she has got used to the new routines in her life. This morning on her walk she said hello nicely to a terrier and I'm sure she will be fine with other dogs and just turn away if they bark, growl or snap at her. She can only move at an amble, around slow to average walking pace, so couldn't chase cats even if she wanted to! As her sight and hearing are so poor she wouldn't even see a cat unless it came up really close. She is such a dear old thing though I think would be better with older children who wouldn't pull her around at all. Her poor hearing and sight means she doesn't always realise where people are especially if behind her so steady, gentle owners would be best. All in all so far I don't think you could find a nicer old girl. Wonder who will be first in the queue.....
  8. Well at least it's supposed to be fine tonight!! She is such a dear old thing though and with her poor sight and hearing in a strange place, it must be so stressful for her. She says ' thanks for the hugs Aunty Gayle and the nice ride too.... do call and see me sometime and give me some real hugs though! :GroupHug:
  9. If it ever stops raining we might get to take some pics. If I can stay awake long enough that is! Feels as if we have spent half the night out in the garden with her so far.....but things will improve!!
  10. Bess has completed her transport run and arrived safely into foster care with us. Just thought you'd all like to know. She is a sweet old thing, very bewildered but most amiable. Panting and pacing for a while initially as expected, but has now laid down for a rest. Someone is going to be a lucky new owner I think!
  11. He looks gorgeous but too settled and comfy for anyone to dare ask to take him home I bet!! Maybe things are a bit quiet on the rehoming front because of the holidays and once school starts again and people settle down, there will hopefully be a rush of requests for all the OC beauties still waiting.
  12. Definitely would recognise my two apart but then they have very different barks though both the same medium-size lurchers. Sally has a high pitched, very penetrating, 'yippy' sort of bark whereas Sonny is very deep and loud like a really big dog bark.
  13. If anyone happens to have an Epson C48 printer I have some 'compatible' ink cartridges.....2 black and 5 colour. My printer packed up and I now have a different one so these cartridges are going spare and 'free to a good home'. I will also post this on the GAP forum and send them off on a first come first served basis to anyone who sends me their snail mail addy for posting to.
  14. What a super picture of 'the happy couple'!
  15. That's brilliant.! I'm sure the OC will be able to put it all to good use and help more oldies into loving homes. Well done all involved.
  16. Well I've just found it again, don't know where it went, but it's actually in fundraising on the GAP forum.
  17. So glad he is safely home and things don't sound too bad for the little guy.
  18. Actually I know I read it somewhere recently.....just mustn't have been on this forum. Someone suggested collecting all the copper in their change in a jar for a fixed period....a month or six weeks was suggested. If everyone on the forum did this it might be surprising how much they collected in that fixed time to send off to the rescue/forum involved. Several people agreed and others already collected small change like that (as I do) just 1p,2p and 5p pieces .....but now I can't find the original topic to see if a start date had been agreed. Seems like a good idea anyway so maybe we should 'steal' it for the OC.

    Kizzi

Oh poor Kizzi but she will look so cute in her ear protector snood so maybe she'll forgive you! Dogs with anal gland problems often benefit from having a teaspoon of natural bran sprinkled over their food daily so that might be worth trying to help prevent future problems.
  20. So I did dream it and nobody else knows anything about it! Oh dear.....seems like I am in a sorry state then!
  21. Well, I know I am getting old and senile but there was a thread somewhere about collecting pennies in a jar......and I thought it was on here but now I can't find it anywhere!! Did I imagine it, was it a dream or have I gone totally gaga? Anyone put me out of my misery and give me a link.....if there really was such a topic of course!
  22. <<<My own theory (for what it's worth) is that babies aren't born with empathy or compassion, they learn it at a vital developmental stage from positive contact with the adults around them. It becomes hardwired into their brain in the same way as language skills or socialising puppies at the right time in their development, and missing out on this gets carried through from generation to generation.>>> I think you may well be right about this Fee. There certainly seems to be less empathy in youngsters these days and I do think parents are not teaching children to feel and care about other people and animals as they did in my childhood. Like most things these days I expect they think (if they think at all) that this is another thing the schools should be responsible for. I couldn't have stood by and watched that happening to that poor little puppy though and I bet there are many here who couldn't have either. I just hope he really pays for that one way or another but I'd be worried if I were the mother of his child.

    Kizzi

Another beautiful girlie who won't be waiting long for someone to snaffle her up and whip her off to a loving new home.
  24. Isn't she gorgeous! Someone is going to be grabbing her very soon I'm sure.
  25. The calendar has arrived already and is lovely. Many thanks! What super pics of gorgeous oldies we have in there this year.
