  1. We use Program injections twice a year on the cats - covers for fleas and ticks and a sort of worm and the dogs get Program Plus tablets for fleas and ticks recommend both - new puppy on Advocate as he can't have Program till he's over 6 months We live in a very rural area and can recommend Program - our vets have to order it in for us as we don't use spot ons for the cats since 3 went blad after application and then took an allergic reaction to the dog spot on - the dogs and cats sleep together hence transfer
  2. Sadly to far from us in Aberdeenshire, having 40+ cats and 2 doggies and an away from home working husband even with precise planning!
  3. Just to add we have had 2 FIV+ cats living with my current 40 and sadly both have now passed on but I had to have all of them tested when we sadly lost a rescue Mum and 3 of her 4 kittens to FIP all were negative - we have mainly ferals but never seperated them All my newbies are tested in house only so we can see if they stay on the insiode or are released in to our feral colony which seems to be expanding despite them all being done - must remove sign from bottom of track!

Have added us up in Aberdeenshire Scotland
  5. Have to say Scotland - Aberdeenshire is beautiful - we live in the middle of nowhere yet only 20 miles from a major Airport and the beach banffshire about 30 miles away gives great value for money and has the benefits of coastline and hills just in land - it is also great for snow but all roads are gritted and its currently minus 10 and all frosty and pretty We have 8 acres including the garden and paddock and woods to I have a babbling brook going past my front door, no street lights, only neighbours a re a couple of fields away and its so quiet we here the owls at night and out latest waifs to turn up 2 peacocks in the morning!
  6. We use Pill pockets to get the tablets down our ferals and they eat the lot nasty pill included and no stress all round - we got Pill pockets from Vet UK but am sure you can get them elsewhere to
  7. Antirobe antibiotics is the best thing for mouth problems in cats clears up most infections including gingivitis - we have a couple of ferals on it currently as we can't convince them to go in to the trap but both are eating well and crunching biscuits again - we split the capules and put it in cat milk - so readily available for ferals in the wild We also use it before any dental surgery as it seems to lessen infection afterwards

    What I've I Done

Daisy is a very sweet looking pup who seems to have landed on her paws with you I don't have rescue dogs because I would fail me for the homecheck due to fences under 6 foot - I have a 5 acre garden and 8 acres of woods but have 2 Pedigree dogs jazz a 15y.o JRT very like daisy and 2 Border Collies Sky came from a breeder he is an Astra dog but had a heart murmer and Sunny came from a farm I do however have cats all 43 of them - I do a lot of feral rescuing and my dogs have to fit in with the cats - Jazz thinks she is a cat and both BC's have been clawed - they now leave the cats alone and round each other up. So whilst not an ideal start in life she now has a secure home with someone who loves and wants her so perhaps we shouldn't all be judging the situation so harshly - A rescue dog wouldn't work for us due to fences and chasing smaller animals also we have sheep and cattle in the fields and whilst both collies have looked no one has touched but I would happily put them in a pen with a ewe to loose interest I did it with my Staffy and he never looked again!
  10. B F and G I negoitated a good discount we have 48 animals registered although 4 haven't visited cause they won't go in a trap - outside ferals I took 3 months to find a vet I liked when we moved 2 years ago and met with the owning partner who showed me round and gave me the same discount I had at my previus vets They order program injection s for the cats for us and have been wonderful through our losses and always treated our ferals with the same care as our domestic cats even at the end of their lives and let us visit any of the kids if they are in the hospital overnight or longer Ours are a country practice but treat all the animals and owners with respect and dignity and also allow us to have a CP account so that they get double discount on any CP cats we have at that time
  11. Zylkene is a good thing from the vets for stress we use it on our ferals for a couple of months after trapping and have had good results, he may also be stressed by Dexter not being "done yet" also get the vet to check him out it could be cycstitus and this can cause changes to litter tray useage We have currently 43 cats under our care mainly ferals and have had to reintroduce litter trays to a couple of them who took the loss of their beloved leader Miss Gracie a 19.yo feral lady so we went back to the dog cage routine and this also got them back on track Its silly things that tend to set them off - we changed the litter to all the same and our mob had a riot currently we have 4 different types on the go and the harmony is back
  12. We use Program tablets for the 3 dogs - aged 15, 19 months and 15 weeks and the injectable form for the cats - we have had no flea's or tick issues - the ticks go gray and die or fall off. The dogs get the tablet form once a month and its easy to administer wrapped in a treat!
  13. So the Bridge gained our Tiger yesterday and your Tasha today makes me think its the T's turn Only ever borrowed but never owned but always a pawprint in your heart
  14. Today at 12.37pm Tiger Leader of team Stripe, Leader of the Clan Cats indoor/Outdoor mob and second in command to Sweetie died in my arms at the vet. He was our very first introduction to feral cats, the late Toerag bought him home for something to eat and Sweetie let him in and so started our love affair with unhandlable feral cats. He worshiped Toerag and they made quite a pair of stunning boys both weighing in at 20lbs of black and Tabby cat respectively, Toerag taught him an awful lot but was tragically killed 18 months after Tiger joined our family. The following year Tiger went walkabout for 2 weeks at the same time his big bro was killed and I found him in a neighbours garden he had been hot by a car and was in a bad way but our then wonderful vets rebuilt our boy and although he lost his tail except for a 1 inch stump he made a remarkable recovery and 4 weeks later was back out patrolling his territory and so we then adopted his stalkers another pair of tabby ferals Lima and Clio aged 11 months and no human contact, Tiger took them on as his own and taught them over the years that humans are nice and can be trusted! He had a remarkable bond with Robin his Dad and they watched many football, rugby and cricket matches together and Tiger also was one of the cats we introduced to the newbies and fosters he took it all in his stride and usually demolished their food to! He moved house with us 2 years ago and led the breakout and escape party by way of a breaking the window and then turned up 3 hours later wondering what all the fuss was about and that he had just taken them on a trip some took 6 months to trap but Tiger didn't see the issue! He was diagnosed as diabetic 15 months ago and was the vets star performer everything was text book no ups or downs and even today his bloods were perfect its just he tumours on his liver and heart became to much and despite the vets best efforts our boy died on his own with no necessary intervention at his own pace at the vet. The Vet was in tears - he has shared our losses this year with Gracie and Gem and can't understand how we can cope with the loss, not sure I know how we cope but we do and I will miss this big Tabby former feral more than words can say as will his Daddy and Sweetie and the rest of the Clan Cats and dogs So godspeed Tiger our rumpy stumpy boy, one of the founding members of the Clan Cats, reunited with his big brother Toerag, and the others Haggis, Moose, Hissy Holly, His doggy Brother Breeze, Miss Gracie, darling Gem and the stones - Star, Cairo and Shanghai Forever our tabby boy and the best advert for a feral cat that we know of always a pawprint in our hearts and only in the next room waiting for us but causing havoc at the bridge
  15. Our darling little tortie Gem went to the Bridge at 11.27am this morning with both Robin and I in attendance She fought a brave battle against FIP but this cruel disease stole our darling girl She leaves behind devastated parents in Robin and I, her darling brother Brodie and her lasting legacy Baby Beijing She had 4 months a 4 days in our loving care and although not long in time in leaving she leaves a huge gaping hole that will be with us for a long time The indoor cats all lined the stairs as she was leaving the house including Blue who we don't see in daylight that often and Miss Cissy and her crew also came down stairs. The outside cats lined the drive and even the ones who don't like each other sat next to each other in respect for their little sister. So darling Gem we thankyou for the time we had with you I only wish it could have been longer for all our sakes So godspeed our darling tortie, reunited with Star, Cairo and Shanghai your kittens and all the Clan cats waiting for you at the bridge Gem adopted 29 May 2008 died 4 October 2008 aged 1 year and a Clan Cat forever
