Is it my imagination or is there an image of someone against the back fence? His face can be seen near the top of the fence above the little black dog. It looks like an old man with bushy eyebrows a 'tash and a beard.
  3. Oh Karen My thoughts and prayers are with you. Lots of positive thoughts being sent to Rosie Buttons, and big 's to you and Gary.
  4. Oh Karen I'm so sorry to hear about Rosie Buttons. Loads of best wishes being sent to you both. Ps Missed you and your crew at Teckels this year Karen!!
  5. Never drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly!
  6. Ooohh! Where abouts are you looking Kathy. Some places are better than others. Especially in Summer when the A149 can become gridlocked between Hunstanton and Wells. We looked at a nice bungalow in Stiffkey, but it was just a little too small Prices in Hunstanton are dropping very quickly but the houses and Bungalows still don't appear to be selling.
  7. If you are thinking of holidaying in Hunstanton try and get somewhere up the Lighthouse end of town. The Bungalow we rent (we take 3 big dogs) is right opposite the lighthouse - 5 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute stroll into town. A lot of dog friendly pubs as well!!
  8. We rent a bungalow and Holiday in Hunstanton twice a year - and drive up at weekends do run the dogs along the beach. Hope to move up there one day. Actively looking at the moment We love it!!! Extremely dog friendly place. Beutiful scenerey.
  9. Hi Jules, Sorry to hear that Jess has appeared to have hurt her leg again. I hope her hydro session has alleviated her problems and she is feeling better today. What you have to remember, is that now she is doing agility, she is a 'canine athlete', and will suffer the same stresses and strains that a human athlete would. Most Agility dogs we treat, have stress points down the back into their lumbar region, and also in their neck and shoulders. Some develop deep flexor issues and all kinds of muscular and soft tissue issues. However, having said that, Agility is good for dogs. It keeps their muscles strong, which aids joint stability; improves cardiovascular systems, and most of all, dogs love it!! We find that with a lot of dogs that start agility, fly-ball, working trials etc, muscular and soft tissue problems that have perhaps laid dormant or have not bothered the dog whilst they have been less active shall we say, start to have an impact as the dogs start training and competing. Muscular injuries (and we are talking micro-tears, slight strains etc that we may not have noticed at the time), that may have occurred months in the past, and which may have fibrosed, and become adhered to surrounding tissue, can cause problems with muscular health and balance. The dog is unable to move as fluidly as it should. Length of stride decreases, the back becomes less flexible, the shoulders and neck become tight. Unlike us humans who would moan and complain, the dog just gets on with life and compensates by slightly altering the way it walks. Muscles work in pairs or groups. When one is contracting, it's opposite number is relaxing. If one of the muscles within the group is damaged, tight, is scared, is adhered or sore, it will not be able to function as it should. To compensate, the dog will shift its weight, resulting in other muscles, not anatomically structured to do so, taking on additional work. These muscles become overworked, tire more easily and are more prone to injury. This is why when we treat a dog who has idiopathic lameness in the front leg, we always check for issues in the opposing back leg as it may be a referred problem due to weight transference. When muscular imbalance and compensatory weight shift occurs, the dog may not exactly be lame or limp, they just look unsound and unbalance. They just don't look right and don’t move right. What you can do to check for obvious stress points or issues, - with Jess standing, and you standing behind her, place your thumbs either side of the spine and gently press in and down. Be careful not to do this over the vertebra, make sure you are applying pressure to muscle. Do this at various points down the length of her spine starting at her shoulders and finishing at her pelvis. Make sure to apply pressure simultaneously from both thumbs. When applying the pressure, look to see if her back twitches. Look out for areas that she is not happy with when apply pressure, as these could be small muscle spasms (the muscles system running the length of the spin is very complicated, just like ours). I would really recommend getting a muscle balance assessment done on her. Don't forget, she is going to have a long hard season next year, and she's an athlete doncha-no and you are her fitness coach, personal trainer, dietician, manager, events organiser..........................
  10. Yes! Julia will be there both days Julia, of course, mingles and socialises, whilst her therapists do all the hard work but don't tell her I said that

  14. Well we are nearly ready for our annual trip to Gloucester tomorrow. Bruno & Suka are brushed and have their overnight bags packed. They are boarding with Aunty Joan at Teckels tomorrow and Saturday whilst we are at a wedding in Bristol. Hope she knows what's she's letting herself in for We will pick them up Sunday morning ready for Teckels Dog Show. I am excited and really looking forward to it. Dont care about the weather. Just looking forward to seeing Jaquie D, Joan and all the other fugees again.
  15. Now........ if they were playing the Sheffield Steelers there well may be!!!! You can impress him with your knowledge of the long lasting feud between the Steelers and the Panthers. We used to be Season Ticket holders at the London Knights. Love Hockey!!! Have traveld all over this country and abroad in the past. Norway & Sweden when the Knights qualified for the Continental Cup. Cananda and North America more recently. Lost touch a bit now. Don't now who the 'Goons' (them that are employed just to cause trouble and fight) are for each side. I cant remember his name, but 5 or 6 years ago, Nottingham used to have a Goon that every other teams fans hated with a vengance. Nice Guy off the ice though. Oh and Wendy. Watch out for flying pucks!!!! And watch out for controversy if Nigel Boniface is the ref. I used to love Nige!!!!!
  16. Bruno was already Bruno when we collected him from Teckels and it really suited him. Suka was originally called 'Fortunata' which I think meant Lucky One in Italian. There was no way on Gods earth my Husband was going to stand in the middle of Wanstead Park and shout Fortunata so we called her Suka (which is Polish for Bitch). Never has a dog been more aptly named!
  17. My 'Irish' Brace. And one of my fav pictures of my two.
  18. Have just got back from the vets. Suka has had her stitches out and the results are in. IT WAS NOT A MAST CELL TUMOUR According to the path report it was 'an inflammatory lesion, characterised by focal scabiing and underlying dermal necrosis. The topography is in keeping with a biting arthropod injury and further supported by the presence of eosinophils amongst the inflammatory population' In other words they think it was caused by a TICK BITE The bad news is its not healing very well and the tissue underneath could still be dying (dermal necrosis). She has been put on a 2 week course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. Althugh I'm very relieved it wasn't malignant, I'm not conviced it was a tick. As far as I'm aware, she's never had a tick on her face. The only thing I can think of, is that it attached itself whilst out on our walk and she has somehow managed to scratch the body off before I noticed it, killing it, but not before it had regurgitated the contents of its stomach into her face.

  20. Will be thinking of you and Dolly today Wendy
  21. I am so sorry for your loss Dee Run fast and free at the Bridge Dougal.
  22. I am so please for you Barb. What a relief. A gentle for Holly.
  23. Suka is back and apart from being a bit wobbly, is fine. The operation went well and they think they have removed whatever it is without causing any facial nerve damage. The stitches are causing her bottome eyelid to droop a bit especially as she is a little swollen. They are not sure what the lump was and wont know until the results are back in 10 days time. Thanks for all your thoughts and well-wishes. It really does help you know.
