  1. Kane has thrush pretty much year round (can't imagine why in this warm dry country we live in ) but I think you'd know if your horse had it, your farrier for 1 would of commented on it and if you'd left it untreated you'd certainly know!! I am very careful about the management of Kanes hooves but I've yet to completely get rid of it! He has a strong smell but also a thin black line around the area of the frog, sort of tar looking. I use FreshFrog daily which is fab stuff and if in the winter he gets a really bad attack I'll ask my farrier to cut as much frog as is safe and then use Hydrochloric acid in a one off treatment (very very carefully!!!) using a shringe (sp!!) and only on the infected area. Then he has to have his feet scrubed for around a week daily with hibiscrub or some other antiseptic cleaner. Are your's kept with other animals?? Only ask cos the other day one of the girls on the yard was in a right panic cos her horses feet were absolutely stinking to high heaven...turns out it was a lovely lump of sheep pooh!!!
  2. Right I'm going home. Wendy I'll light a candle for Dolly tonight and Sidney will have play ball in her honour. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
  3. Ohhhh I'd love one...and a poodle and a cavvy and a scruffy mutt and and and!!! Owch Anne hope you are okay?
  4. That's so sad. Great piccys Jayne, Blue looks fab!! Good jumping too!!! My boy has a busy schedule this weekend, he's in much demand!!! We're hacking tonight with someone, then saturday I've been asked to hack out with one of the young girls to help her pony overcome his fear of traffic and sunday me and Laura are going on an adventure!! I was rather proud cos the young girls mum came specifically to ask me if I minded taking her on a hack as she'd heard that Kane was as bombproof as they come hacking, t'was very nice to hear something good about him for a change!!
  5. Glad Pancake is feeling better, I think you'll be very lucky to find a vets that does know much about chucks. Round here which you'd think would have one, being extreamly rural, they haven't a clue!!!
  6. The sheer bloody cheek of some people really does astound me at times!!! I'm again glad I've cleaned out my life and dropped the dead wood.

I'm sorry. You gave a good few months.
  8. Oh Wendy I'm so sorry. You tried so hard and gave her so much. What a very sad day.
  9. What a shock. Words fail me. I'm so very very sorry.
  10. So glad college is everything you expected Steph. Definatley the right move for you. Poor Pancake. Hope she's okay. Lovely flowers Wendy. Well done Amy it's £20 more than they had this morning so it's a brilliant effort.
  11. Much as I'd love to I don't eat them as they have gelatine in them (I keep checking...one day sweetie manufacturers will learn!!! )..the day I found out the co-op had jelly beans without gelatine in was a celebration, mind I'll never eat them again cos I ate 3 packets and threw up for England!! Glutton..who me????
  12. Yeah I do to....not seen any for years at my place though!!!! Well done Sarah, he's a credit to you and the kids. (Have to admit though I was the same as you and totally shocked how easy poopies are to train when I got Sidney!! I was so used to naughty holligans!! )
  13. I was very lucky to get the practice owner this time I went (usually you never know who it will be) and he's a fantastic bloke! He was the man that paid for all the cost involved when we liberated (nicked) the welsh terrier a few years ago that had been savaged by a badger (we think) and was on deaths door, and also wouldn't take a penny off me when foster dog Bear broke his leg. He's a proper old fashioned vet, swears alot and stinks of fags but loves dogs and won't let anyone tell him he can't mend something!!!
  14. Bless her heart!!! She'll be a chilly girlie with all that hair missing!! I bet she feels so much better already just by being home.
  15. Sorry no pictures until we both look like we know what we are doing (so never!!) Glad Wanda is sound again. Seems she needs some work and fast!! Kane is fine thanks Sarah, he's looking a tad on the podgy side after my panics over him looking flea bitten and thin!!! He's been told now that as I've started paying for haylage his hard feed is being knocked right back to a handful to put his supplements in...don't think he believed me last night, he will later when he see's the tiny feed I've prepared!!! He too will be holding a meeting with Mr Clippers in the next few days...he's sweating up very quickly so I'm going to start with a belly and neck, as he's field kept I don't want to take too much off..should be fun as I've never clipped him before!!!
  16. Oh Kathy I've only just seen this. I'm so very very sorry.
  17. Great news. Must be a huge weight off your mind.
  18. Sorry I have been neglectful of RMF recently. Don't seem to have alot of mindless tat to regale you all with at the moment. Congratulations Steph. Well done Dolly, she's such a fighter.
  19. That's a lovely post Sarah. I know very well it's all too easy to get dragged down by what's happening, and even easier to forget those around you. I believe 100% that you get back what you give in life, so the fact you have such wonderful family and friends just goes to show you deserve them.
  20. I'm so pleased he's coming on in leaps and bounds. He is indeed a very special boy and extreamly lucky to have found you.
  21. So glad he's feeling better. I spent some of yesterday evening (cos it was WAY too windy to ride even in the school!!) with my boy grooming him and sniffing his mane...it's just a smell that makes the world seem right.
