  1. My old Sprollie got these when he got arthritis in hin knees as he was licking we think as they were sore. Definately a sign that something might not be quite right with him either physically or emotionally (stress)
  2. My heart just breaks for this little lad Is there a non facebook website or contact for those of us who might like to send a small donation to help with his vets bills? also sending him lots and lots of healing thoughts and wishes
  3. I give tablets covered in butter - pop in the mouth and the butter melts, they swallow and pill is gone - simples (in theory!!) Had a lovely day today - had an agility comp and Finn had 3 lovely runs, coming home with a 10th place. Had faults in the other runs but they were my fault for not telling him what I wanted him to do - so was pleased with him
  4. Thanks, but no it wasn't her - much more recent - and much less, erm, good!
  5. Sending loads and loads of good thoughts for Henry and Patchy
  6. I love that pic too and it's one I always think of when I think of Dogstar I have no advice with the book other than maybe getting hold of those in a similar genre and reading and making notes of what you like and don't like about them. I used to have a book (really useful I know ) about a woman who set up a project with gorillas in (I think) Rwanda, possibly in conjunction with Howletts, but I gave it to a charity shop as I was so annoyed with what she did and how she did it!! But it was a pretty good template of writing a tru life type story. If I could remember anything about it I'd try and find it online!!
  7. Does anyone know if us up in Scotland can have input? I know we have different legislation in the offing, but would like to add my weight to this if possible.
  8. 'Ello Been reading but not really posting, but have been thinking of poorly peeps and dogs So glad to hear Daisy is a bit better with her new meds Also delighted to hear Nog is doing so well after such a long time - just wondering who had the biggest smile when he got on the bed - Nog or Snow Despite missing my mum especially today, I'm having a rather lovely day - been to agility training this morning and both Finn and Billy were fabby, the sun shone and I got puppy cuddles from a friends 9 week old collie pup I am now so puppy broody it's just not true!! Have now come home and have rugby on the tv, agility on the computer and crisps and dip and a cuppa, and a dog on the sofa with me. Should be working but that would spoil today, so I'm not. Very naughty, but hey ho!
  9. What an awful shock But as others have said, Cecil doesn't know he's poorly, so go and enjoy being with him. I hope you have lots more happy times together
  10. Very, very well deserved!!!! Congratulations to everybody at Dogstar
  11. I've just had a cup of Twinings Assam, which I rather liked
  12. Lots of good thoughts for limpy, hoppy dogs! and special put your foot down thoughts for Nog (Should be in his thread, but thought I'd say it whilst I was here ) How exciting - but the pics are where? I want my hair to be blonde again but I can't afford it so I'm stuck with my natural mousy blondey brown nondescipt colour Just been doing some training with tho boys, and was teaching Finn to touch a target with his paw. He know's touch with his nose so was a little confused at first but very quickly picked it up. He's such a honest dog and tries his hardest for me With Billy I stuck to touching with his nose - he's more sensitive funnily enough and would get upset if I tried to change what he 'knows' I send one to their bed whilst I trained the other, but hey both creep forward when I'm not looking til they are rup close, but never interfere with the other one's training
  13. Thanks for all the suggestions folks Seems that Twinings and Sainsburys Red Label are faves - will give them a try. Difficuly is, as I'm not a big tea drinker, it takes me ages to get through a box! Like the idea of 'taster' packs - have to look out for them. I have quite soft water (I think - I don't get limescale!), so not sure how that affects the tea!
  14. I'm a fairly recent convert to tea drinking and am just discovering how varied teas are! Wondered if anyone had favourites or teas they could recommend? Not keen on heavily scented teas and like my tea fairly strong. I love Tea Pigs Morning Glory tea but it's expensive and I am only allowed it as a treat! So looking for an everyday tea. Thanks
  15. I'm so very sorry My thoughts are with Lesleys's family and friends
  16. Alex can you send me some of your work motivation please!! Who's the handsome lad Amy? How exciting for Wiggle
  17. It's an urban myth! Don't worry about it, but still worth being vigilant in car parks. snopes
  18. Thinking of Jazz Hope she's feeling better soon Spins - I read throat curing as throat cutting and thought that it was a bit extreme!! To all the other poorly fugees both 2 and 4 legged (and sometimes 3 legged!) - and there does seem to be rather a lot at the moment. Hope everyone is back to full health soon, although I'm sure our dogs, cats and assorted other animals will continue to come up with plenty of new and exciting ways to worry us! Had a lovely walk earlier with a couple of friends and their dogs but it was spoiled by having to dodge mountains of poo - do folks think that cos there's snow they don't have to pick up!! And now it's melting it's all resurfacing - disgusting
  19. I'm blatantly plugging this tv programme which features my friend and her research with the chimps at Edinburgh zoo. Her study has been looking at cognitive abilities in the chimps, and involved giving them a camera to film each other! Synopsis Should be really good and I know the film crew have been really good at representing what Betsy has been doing. Hope you enjoy it if you get the chance to see it!!
  20. Just on my local Gumtree (getting advert for stud dogs and breeding girls removed ) and have seen an ad selling a little white staffie bitch. She was advertised first last week, and the pic is so pitiful - she's cowering and looks so worried. I emailled the owner to very tactfully see if he might be willing to hand her to rescue, but he wants money for her and suggested in not too polite language that I mind my own business I also know that rescues are full off staffs and other dogs who have come from worse situations, so she's not 'urgent' Not been able to get her out of my mind since. Unfortunately there are always lots of dogs (cats and other animals) for sale on local gumtree, but this wee girl has just got under my skin. I can't buy her out - can't have another dog at the moment and have tried for her Know I can't do anything else - so this is basically a bit of a self indulgent whinge, but a few 'get a lovely new home where you'll be loved' thoughts for the little white staffie would be appreciated
  21. Lots of good thoughts coming your way Abby No wonder you are feeling rough - lots to deal with. Hope you get sorted soon. Know it's hard to tell friends stuff when they're pregnant - you don't want to worry them or 'spoil' their happy pregnancy, but I'm sure they don't think like that and will be 'cross' (not really cross but can't think of the word I want!!) you haven't told them before now. On a practical level are there any gadgets which might help ease the strain on your back/shoulder/arm? Take care
  22. Further update My original vets rang me this afternoon. It was the practice manager asking if I had left them, and if so was there a problem. She was lovely and stressed that obviously it was fine if I had left (I know it is but she really was at pains to say so!) So told her I would like them to keep the boys on their books but I had taken Billy elsewhere as it was much cheaper to get them vaxed elsewhere. Seemed fine so very happy with my descision
