  1. I really hope it turns out to be nothing serious will be thinking of you and Sadie on Friday.
  2. My husband just mailed me from his work..he said getting in was a nightmare, the roads are awash! take care anyone driving this morning. Laura...my daughter had a tooth extraction last year, and she was in terrible pain afterwards, it took nearly a week to settle down. The dentist did tell her what it was, but I can't remember and as she's on a caribbean cruise at the mo, cant ask her. I know he did give her something, so if it still hurts today it might be worth getting back in touch with your dentist.
  3. My mobile fell out of my pocket earlier and hit the ground pretty hard..and now the ringing tone doesn't work. I can speak/hear on it ok, and the vibrate works. I suppose I'll have to carry it around in my bra!

    King

So sorry a peaceful passing, King..no more pain.
  5. I had to look closely...no, its Dyl's collar. Dont worry about the only one wine bottle...the others are white, and in the fridge!
  6. Oh the poor little thing! what will happen to her if she makes a good recovery, will she be rehomeable or will you keep her?
  7. After a rather uncertain start, when I was sure Dylan was convinced she was a cat and was going to try to eat her, he and Rosie are becoming friends. She does test his patience when she tries to eat his tail, and I'm not sure if he was smiling or wincing when she rummaged under his tum when he was lying down (I did tell her he wasn't her mum, and that wasn't a nipple!) but all in all, things are going quite well. I'm very proud of Dylan, he's a star! half time! asleep together on Dad's lap.
  8. If he could clearly see you in advance, he should have had his dog under control before he got up to yours, I would have thought. A quick "sorry about that" in passing doesn't take a couple of seconds. The lack of smile..well, not everyone is friendly!
  9. I went past some roadworks today, and there were two big proper council signs, not handwritten ones, saying bussinesses open as usual. You'd think someone in the Highways Department could work out they had one s too many!
  10. Oh..and having investigated to see why Dylan is washing his inner thigh frantically.....lurchers who only have to look at something sharp to slice themselves open.
  11. Cats that piddle all up the kitchen cabinets cos their mum has gone on holiday and they don't like someone else (me!) feeding them. Puppies that chew up the insulating strip round the patio doors....grrrrrr! I am reliably informed that SafeStyle windows are crap.
  12. I found the halti harness worked pretty well with Dylan, but he's a lurcher and not as beefy in the body...or as strong, I wouldn't imagine, though he can nearly pull me off my feet if he makes an unexpected lunge after a squirrel! have you considered tying an anchor to her tail? (or round your waist?)
  13. Happy New Year...rather late, sorry! I'd forgotten how pleasant it is having a puppy, standing outside in the lightly falling snow at 7.30 this morning in my dressing gown was very refreshing
  14. He wants to be different, Julie! fleas are just so...common!
  15. They just said on the nine o clock news that the police are praising the sixteen year old for her attempts to rescue the baby from the dog. If she hadn't left the seven year old alone with the baby while she was upstairs, it wouldn't have NEEDED to be rescued. A seven year old can't see the possible danger of showing a baby to a dog. Any dog...not just a big dog. The baby should have been upstairs with the older girl, surely? The report I heard (and heaven knows if it was the correct one) was that the older girl was upstairs, younger one decided to introduce the toddler to the dog. Where the heck grandma was in all of this, doesn't seem to have been mentioned.
  16. Have you tried contacting the local radio stations? Peak FM, or Smooth Radio? they might be willing to broadcast a message. Is he neutered? if not, he could have wandered quite a way if there are bitches in season in the area, and a radio appeal would reach more people.
  17. When she's had all her jabs we'll have to introduce her and Harry Julie, then he can see that cavvies can be nice and friendly. (that's if she doesn't bite his ears, that is!)
  18. Well, my life has certainly gone from being sedate and peaceful! she looks like an angel, but she is definitely the devil in disguise.... Rosie...a little cav puppy...who is the boldest, most confident pup I've ever had, and that includes the dobes and gsd. Hoover? oooh whats that, I'll try to climb on it (yes, it was working, and noisy.) Dylan...wow, what a lovely big dog, I'll chase him round the room...hasty exit of Dyl upstairs out of reach. He is being very good, a couple of warning growls which she did take notice of, but otherwise he leaves her alone and just wishes she'd do the same for him. She's eaten well since day one, no funny tum though that might change after her first inoculation this afternoon, and I'm sure we'll control the biting. I hope. She's like an Exocet with teeth...and they are very sharp. She is very sweet asleep though someone...please let me out?? before I have a tantrum...???
  19. so pleased she is improving..I dread reading these threads in case of bad news, but it looks very hopeful.
  20. I debated about posting on here...she isnt a rescue, plus on Julie C's thread quite a few people said less than nice things about them but we are picking up a cav puppy we are calling Rosie tomorrow. I've had my name on two cav rescue lists for ages and ages with no luck, and I've been getting more and more depressed (various reasons..but worse at this time of year cos its when I lost my poms) so my husband in a fit of insanity said he'd get me a pup. Just praying that Dylan won't think she's a strange coloured rabbit, or a very animated squeaky toy!
  21. I only just read this...I cant say how sorry I am Mel...you and your family must be devasted, but take some comfort from the thought that the time she spent with you was so happy, I'm sure it wiped out any bad memories she had of life before
  22. The hot water part of my combi boiler has been playing up, so a plumber came to look at it yesterday afternoon and declared it needs a new (probably expensive) flow valve. Since he left its been working perfectly! Do I phone him and tell him not to bother with the new bit, or would that be tempting fate?
  23. I'm astounded by her attitude! were you walking close to home? in which case I'm sure what she's doing living round there...its not exactly Kensington and Chelsea, is it? I've owned pedigree dogs all my life, apart from our Dylan who we have now, but I most certainly don't look down on mongrels, and even if the dog had a face that would frighten Hannibal Lecter, I wouldn't dream of saying so...she's an illmannered boot. Harry is gorgeous...I would say bring him over but I'm not sure Dylan would like it....and you shouldn't be upset, you should feel sorry for her. Do you have a printer? if so print all the remarks off, and if you see her again, hand it to her with the suggestion she sits down with a cup of arsenic and reads them all!
  24. agree about the bullying but sadly a lot of people back down when it comes the crunch..its a case of " we are behind you"...yes about a mile, hiding behind a door! What have you fallen out with the cops over mel?
