  1. Awww fluffy pony! She's very cute.
  2. Am just checking all my details for meeting Ms ChickTik later. To those who need one. I went for a lovely meal last night and OH proposed.... he'd mentioned earlier in the week he'd been looking at antique rings but didn't buy one.
  3. Poor boy, give him a at from me! I have an ongoing foot saga with Blondi, she has a huge abcess which has erupted at the bulb of her heel. Shes in on box rest which she loves and thinks shes the most superior horse o nthe yard! Easta is still not right and has started rearing again, so am now back to ditching english saddles and riding western as shes seems comfier. Newt is just Newt bless him. Very happy now he is out with the ladies and not getting bullied by the boys! He has thankfully kept his new rug unripped, only his 4th heavyweight new zealand! The gelding he used to go out with ripped them off his back weekly and I had an ongoing to and fro fro mthe repair place! He is now out with easta, Calais and soon Blondie so he'll be very pleased with his harem of stunning red heads! I've also chosen a stallion for Easta so she will hopefully be going to stud in a few months time.
  4. These two are reserved pending a homecheck so keep your fingers crossed!
  5. I insure mine through KBIS who do my horse insurance. They've always been great for the horse swhen I've claimed so have stuck with them. I get a discount for having so many pets as well, not just same species!
  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you have a fab day.
  7. To you both, good luck. Sarahxx
  8. Good news about Beenz, Mindy. I've been to the yard this morning and found Blodni's chronic lameness was due to an abcess which has now come out in her heel. So have been poulticing it early this morning, despite having a shower and multiple washing of hands since I can still smell it! Truely foul but at leaqst its not major and i can sort it this week. I've just found my exchange server is down at work so I can't access emails and one of them included a list of to do's from my boss... I knew I should have synched it before logging off last night
  9. Great pictures Andrea. I'm feeling all inspired now to actually get my act together with my noo camera!
  10. Happy Birthday, Hope you've had a fab day!

  12. Its interesting there's 16 personality types and we seem to have about 4 coming out as the most common on the Refuge. Mmm perhaps thats just a scary coincedence or certain types of people are inclined to be more caring and therefore get involved with animal welfare?
  13. lol... I am an ENFP. I can't remember my score but my NF is extremely high. Not sure if that makes me a specific type of hippy!
  14. But the big question MsChook is 'Is she in denial of that fact?'
  15. I may have found somewhere to hire a iJoyRide from for 6 weeks! I am waiting on a call back and will hopefully get it delivered Wednesday wooo hooo or should I say YEEE HAA!
  16. These boys will be arriving back in Derbyshire hopefully this weekend. I know some people have been put off as they think they can't insure them. They are currently insured with PetPlan and I plan to transfer that to my own name so it should be able to be then transferred to a new owner as the insurance will be kept continual then.
  17. A tub of cherries, not had chance to cook yet and probably won't bother. Sausage rolls are next after cherries... mmm healthy!
  18. Just seen this Clare, you've got lots of advice and while it is daunting. You look after your happiness and be true to yourself. I faced the same a couple of years ago and at the time had landed a big mortgage which has ultimately given me security and a home. Its great you can stay where you are, its a renters market these days and you maybe able to negotiate on rent if you speak to your landlord. I've been amazed by the number of rentals coming up around here, and people who were tenants who've moved to cheaper rents, so prices are comign down. I guess Berks is more expensive than here but should still go the same way. Good luck finding a sharer, I shared for many years while at Uni it was great, had the rides of some wonderful horses.
  19. andrea, I've just got a Canon EOS 450D and am thinking of doing a course myself as my photography skills aren't great.
  20. 1- Ride me horses more 2- Enter Easta in at least one dressage competition 3- Enter Easta in at least one show jumping competition 4- Ride Easta in both competitions! 5- Complete my first Parelli training module 6- Set up my web site and start teaching horsemanship with view to career change. My career change is reliant on OH sorting his finances out as if he gets his divorce we can afford for me to take the time out to set up my own business. However its been hampered this year by slow legal processs... so heres hpoing its sorted this year!
  21. Mmm you know me too well Alex! Of course I'll be supervising, Easta has to have a princess pony bed with no poo at all in it. Which can't be done unsupervied, I like my banks a certain way and it has to be a certain depth as well..... god I sound anal now! Anyway back from hospital and I've borken my 4th toe, they think the crack this morning was it realining, as its a straight fracture across the bottom of my toe. The little toe is badly bruised and I've got to keep it elevated as much as possible, not drive and put ice on it. The nice doctor strapped it to my other toe which makes it hurt all the time when I walk now
  22. Mrs B is right our local PC told me the same thing. I am still waiting for my OH to get himself up and dressed to take me to the hospital. He has spent the last 3 hours faffing around despite me complaining my foot is killing me. I've managed to get socks on now and my crocs are the only thing i can have on my feet as my toe is soo swollen. Little does he realise he will be on mucking out duty today as I can't get my wellies on! lol.l... there is a god!
  23. Bless him! hes cute. I think he maybe filing a complaint though to protect his sanity if he has to stay just with his Aunty Poppy much longer... she'd drive me mad!!

    Bit Advice

Maybe contraversially, I lonly ride in a loose ring snaffle unless the horse is green and then is a snaffle with cheeks to aid steering. I ride with the bit low so the horse can carry it where they want in their mouth this I've found stops a horse being really mouthy or setting themsleves against the reins. The communication is alot more reactive as the horse can feel your hands alot more as the bit isn't pinned in place, making them more sensitive in the mouth. i also only ever use a cavesson put on loosely for competitions, most of the time I use no noseband. But then my way of schooling horses is completely different to the BHS, traditional UK way as well
