  7. Looking forward to it already Joe! We had ballons, banners, bubble machine and I have never laughed so much in my life at the sight of Andy suggestively riding a small rocking horse to the tune of Mustang Sally, then my mother in law Chris (Yeti) was the official photographer so check the Beastblog for some photo's although as we all didn't get to bed until about three, I doubt he'll be loading up pictures yet a while ;) It was FAB, FAB, FAB :'( By the way, Kerry(Blondebimbo on GAP) and David travelled all the way down on a motorbike in the rain and wind, they're MAD :P but think they enjoyed it ;D We did have one casualty of the night as Phoebe got locked outside the bottom gate :P so spent the night in the barn. Good job we are out in the wilds! Going back to bed now as I am officially OLD! ;D C x

  14. Being of that certain age I sometimes have lapses in memory and have made a bit of a boo boo regarding a booking. I have written in Lorraine against week commencing 5/7/08 in Little Dumpledale but I have got no contact number, no address, no surname and can't remember who it was, but I think it was off one of the dog forums . So, being an absolute Nelly , does anyone have any idea who it might be? it's not Milo-the-monster Lorraine 'cos I've already asked her ;) I am going to post here, GG, dogpages and SOL but could someone cross post on Lurcher link for me 'cos my membership expired! Also anywhere else they can think of? Thanks all, (must remember to take more water with it ) Carol
  15. Hope you're all feeling better! Nothing worse than going on hols and gettin the flu Weather was fab 4 Feb, nice to see you all again, hope your ok soon. Cheers, C x

  17. Don't worry, you're not the only one Wyn's Cottage when finished will have four bedrooms, one ensuite, sunroom, lounge/diner, kitchen and two other bathrooms. Don't worry about anything being too big, we have lots of couples on their own renting Dumpledale which has three bedrooms Gives you room to spread out anyway! The dogs could have a bedroom each
  18. Oh dear I've confused everyone I think! I've only amended the website so far, I can't amend the calendar date tabs So, for availability 2008 in Four Acres (lots at the moment as it's new, only 4 weeks booked so far!) click on the 2007 tab, availability in Dumpledale itself (limited) click on the 2008 tab and for our new cottage Wyn's Cottage available from the end of May click on the 2009 tab. Clear as mud? If still confused drop me a line hopefully will get the tabs renamed shortly!! The 20% discount offer is available on Four Acres only. Cheers, Carol & Trev x
  19. Special Leap Year offer for all who've supported us over the last five years The internal photo's can be seen on Waljan's blog link here http://www.swallowsdance.co.uk/blog/index.html The calendar for Four Acres is now on the availability screen at the Little Dumpledale website as I did it myself last night, first time amending my own website in any big way . Sorry but the booking form isn't working at the moment (not clever enough to fix that ) but just email or phone me. Look forward to having a few get togethers! Cheers, Carol x

  21. Thank you everybody for your messages, they definately brought a few, ok lots of tears, to the eye. Hugo would a bin eight in november so not an old boy, came from a horrible place at six months old, when i first had him I had to herd him in from the garden, as he wouldn't pass me in the doorway in case he got a kick. I can remember carol saying he was the funniest looking lurcher she'd seen, basically he had no muscle tone, He became a beautifull dog, chocolate merle, cafe ole with moca blobs, his full name was Hugo Bossanova, a designer name to go with callie my salmon pink merle lurcher, full name Calvin Canine, they were like two blobby ends of the colour spectrum, same height both 26 inches high, and I know callie will miss those mad out of control runs. Hugo was to put it mildly fairly accident prone, in his life he has: ran into a tree and severed an artery under his arm, yes I did say artery, there was a spurting fountain coming out from under his arm, I took off one off my socks to try and stop the bleeding then tied it round the wound and rushed him to the vet, inumerable cuts needing stitches or staples, He had several altercations with feisty welsh squirrels on different occasions a bitten nose, lip and ear, and hell do they bleed!) another time he'd run into something and imbedded a canine tooth into his gum, and the odd limp. So when he was limping on his left hind I gave him some metacam and rest, after a few days it didn't heal so took him to the vet, He said Hugo was giving nothing away, no heat no swelling no reaction to preassure, he thought there was slight seperation of the achillies tendon, but not enough to warrant a plaster or anything, just rest, I took him home, the rest was just vile for him and me, I would take the other dogs out and get back to a mournfull howling, it was heart rending. He has always been a very active dog with no excess weight, he lost weight quicky not eating much unless it was something special like chicken or treats so I didn't think he was poorly, just very fed up, after just a week I noticed a thickening of the thigh, because he'd lost weight it looked like the muscle was building up because he was holding his leg up. again no pain if you squeezed it, (i think carol assumed there was pain because he was limping I think it was more discomfort and the metacam helped I hope.) He had cried twice when getting up so I phoned the vet again he said bring him in early he'd have a look and xray if needed. He said it didn't look good, might be bone cancer, he hadn't thought of it before as it's rare in sight hounds, had he been a rottie or retriever he would have checked that out straight away, and with Hugo's accident history;;;; so he went in for an xray and that's what it was, The vet had said prognosis was very poor, the cancer would now grow so quickly it would literaly shatter the bone. The last dog they'd treated had had his leg removed loadsa kemo and had still died after four months, So we let him go. It was and still is a total shock, and in a couple of weeks went from oh hugo's limping again to bone cancer. It's been lovely to write it all down knowing this'll be read by megadoggie people, many who will have known him, and even though he could be such a pain and there were times if someone had said they'd have had him!!!!!!!!! He was very faithfull and I'll miss him loads there's a big hole in my heart and large space on my bed. Oh dear. anyway I'll always think of my local dog trainer, who when he took off around the agility field, or went to chase another dog or just couldn't get what I was trying to get him to learn, (he and callie were eventually retired on mental health grounds Hugo was thick and Callie was neurotic), The trainer would say"Those dogs have too much fun Running around the countryside Being dogs to listen to you" I think that's a fitting place to end thanks again for your thoughts and messages and giving me the opportunity to write this epitaph to Hugo, a dog who loved running around, lying on beds and sofas, his "Brother" Callie and me. Lots of love Andy For those who don't know him his photo is on boos boss and madmerle's post What did cheer me up is in madmerles, pic of all my dogs, in the top right corner are gizmo(the horse Back legs) hadn't noticed them before
  22. I have just had a text from Andy, those of you who've been, will have met him and his dogs at Dumpledale. Hugo, one of his lurchers had been limping very badly for about five weeks now and the vet thought it was his achilles tendon. In the last few days he had become much worse and in a lot of pain. He was x rayed this morning and it turns out it was bone cancer As he was already under anesthetic, Andy made the decison to let him go in his sleep on the table. I know some of you will want to send messages, but as he is not a Refuge member I will make sure he sees this thread. for Andy and the rest of the pack. Carol
