  10. Millie has done a poo Everything is in working order and she's off to rescue tomorrow having cost us a small fortune, the little bugger!!
  11. Millie has kept water down over the weekend but wasn't keen on eating this morning, she did eat because Waggi threatened to eat it instead It's good news that she has eaten but the main thing is that she keeps it down and that there are signs that the damaged intestine is healing. My vet did say though that Millie is much brighter and is running round like a loon so let's hope that's a good sign
  12. Millie the Akita Cross puppy was taken to our vets on the morning of Wednesday 12th March after being sick a few times and after a nights stay in our vets she seemed to perk up. Unfortunately today (Friday) she started to vomit again. All the symptoms pointed to a blockage and she was operated on immediately. A large piece of rubber similar to a baby's bottle teat was found stuck where her stomach meets her intestine but unfortunately it had ruptured her intestine. The vets have done what they can for her and she will stay under their watchful eye for at least couple of days. Please keep your fingers crossed for the lovely Millie as it's touch and go as to whether she will recover Here is what was removed:
  13. Taken off RDR site, written by Bernie: Took this lovely lad to vet this AM and what a placid lad he is. Once in his crate which was a rather tight fit for him, sorry Eddie (Ernie) he just curled up till we arrived. Ooops, Sorry at the vet he's now known as Eddie, senior moment when remembering his name, even though I checked on web before I left . He's a grand old lad, so calm, waggy tailed and walks lovely on the lead and waits till loop slips over his head before he comes out of the car. Had to lift him in though as I don't think he could have jumped into crate on his own, and he's heavier than I expected. Good with other dogs while waiting, just laid down. Not a problem when being examined, but could either be very hungry or a bin raider. He tipped the bin over underneath the exam table to have a forage. On Rimadyl and antibiotics 1 each twice daily, tumours can be removed with cryosurgery, no anaesthetic needed. Afraid I also put Eddie on his med bottles, so sack me pleez!!!!!!!. He also needs a good bath and groom. He's a lovely steady lad and I'm wondering if he could possibly have been an outside dog. All he wants is a calm quiet home with regular walkies and a soft bed to lie on and lots of cuddles. He's lovely. Ernie. (Eddie)

    Winnie

WINNIE Died 6.2.2008 Poor Winnie was picked up by the Dog warden yesterday after an anonymous phone call and at first we thought that she was heavily in pup but she had no milk and her tummy was hard. She was also scarred around her head and face area so we arranged to take her to our vets this morning. Here is the feedback from our transporter: Drove up to the kennels this morning knowing i was picking up 3 lovely little staffies delores and ronnie and also winnie who was only brought in a day ago but needed looking at. No one could decide if she was pregnant or not. The swelling on her tummy was very big but you could see her spine, although she looks rounded in my photo she was very thin. Her nose was red and looked sore and she had a skin infection. Her little ears were battered and bruised, but amazingly despite the treatment she must have endured from the scum that had owned her before she still had a lovely calm and friendly nature. She didnt complain the whole way over to the vets and once ronnie had settled all was calm. I received numerous calls from the vets this morning, my phone was buzzing like mad but unfortunately I wasn't able to answer it as I was in a blooming meeting. I knew it was from the vets and had to keep rejecting the calls due to the buzzing sound very obviously coming from my pocket You can imagine that after that my mind was not fully on the meeting! As soon as I could I rang the vet back to be told that Winnies swollen belly was unfortunately fluid and her heart sounded really bad. I was asked whether we would like to go ahead with draining some of the fluid to be sure that it was fluid from the heart and also x-rays to see what was going on and of course I said yes. I received a call later in the day to say that unfortunately poor Winnie had a very enlarged heart surrounded by fluid. She also had fluid in her lungs and all her intestines etc. were basically floating in fluid. As well as that she had a couple of small mammary tumours I was told to go away and think about what we wanted to do and as Winnie was still asleep from her sedation I knew I had to think fast. After a few minutes I rang the vets back and asked them to allow her to continue to sleep, so she never woke up I am sure that I made the right decision for Winnie and I know that she received love and care from everybody who spent time with her this morning. R.I.P. Winnie, no more suffering now baby girl.
  21. But what about the Polar bear and the black smoke and the mechanical sounding thing and Jacob
  22. Sad update from Tailends: Ted - has become very restless over the last few days and on Monday it became obvious he was deteriorating. He had been enjoying his comforts and the walks on the beach. His tail went up and he jumped in joy when he got to the beach on the walks. He ran to the full extent of the extending lead and was happy and contented. However on Monday night he kept crying and did not want his food. His eyes looked very disturbed and I began to realise that nothing could be done to help him. He had received a thorough examination with blood tests and x-rays to ensure there was nothing physically wrong. Sadly it became appparent that his brain was permanently damaged - maybe through continual neglect or being given drugs - we will never be sure. Just before 3pm on Tuesday 15th January little Ted closed his eyes and fell asleep forever. He was cosy in his little bed and knew nothing as Alex, the vet gave the injection which was to release him from all his troubles. He knew nothing about it and slipped away from us very quickly and without a sound. I am left terribly sad at the loss of this poor little boy who was here such a short time. Ronnie and Ted came to Tailends together and now both have gone. Ronnie due to advanced cancer and Ted through advanced brain damage. We did our best for both of them and they will never be forgotten. They had a little joy and a lot of love after a life of sadness and neglect. They are now together again beyond our sight. Thank you to everyone who sent treats and gifts for Ted at Christmas and Jan who sent him a lovely warm coat which will be used by another needy soul in due course. He loved his treats and all his food. He did have some happy weeks but sadly they were cut short far too soon. Massive thanks to Angela at Tailends for the love that she gave to him in his last few weeks and for everything that she did for him. R.I.P. dear Ted
