  1. Otto is a Staffie crossed with an American Bulldog Thank you for doing the run today, please feel free to leave feedback on the RDR forum, we would love to hear how things went Edited to say that I hope Otto has made you fall in love with the Bull Breed just a little
  2. We are so so busy, Bernie and all our volunteers are fully booked this week and we are still struggling for some of our runs
  3. We can maybe help but could you take her to my vets in Rochdale?
  4. Kaos is safe, we never struggle to place tiny Yorkies so please don't worry and she's going to a lovely rescue who you all know well and into a home environment not kennels Unfortunately as you all know it's the Staffies and their crosses that we can't place......... Thank you all for making people aware of the situation
  5. There is just one more thing I want to say before this thread is closed. I have been wondering whether to say this or not as I was not really sure whether it's relevant and I didn't want to drag things up that possibly didn't need dragging up but it seems we are way past that stage now anyway We at RDR have never sent any dogs to Mill Rescue, even before all the DP stuff never have we sent a "poundie" there even though Maggi did kindly offer to help. The reason being is that we as a responsible rescue do not send dogs to places that we have not personally checked out first hence us not sending any dogs there. There are certain rescues who currently post on DP who did send dogs to Mill Rescue, did they go and check Mill Rescue out or did they come highly recommended by somebody known and trusted to them? If so then I am assuming MR checked out fine. If not checked out, why send dogs there? Is that being a responsible rescue? The whole point of this thread is to say that just because we post on the same board as other rescues obviously doesn't mean jack! Any responsible rescue will first "check out" a rescue before working with them whether they post on the same board as them or not. If DP feels it's fair to stop a rescue from posting and then ban them for speaking out just for using the same board as another rescue but still allows rescues to post on DP who have sent dogs to the rescue it feels shouldn't be supported it is obviously not really about what rescues do and don't do but more about who DP do and do not like
  6. An update from Emma: Hello everyone - thank you again for all those good thoughts I think they are doing some good! There is some positive news this morning.... He is a bit perkier, he has eaten, had something to drink, a wee and a poo His tail has been wagging at the nurses too . They have done a range of neurological tests on him of which he has passed I think - so hopefully no lasting damage from his head trauma. He is trying to sit up but not managing it very well, but its an improvement on yesterday - he has definate feeling in front legs and although his back end is still suffering from some paralysis he has feeling in his right back paw but nothing in his left back paw at the moment........ but hey its soooo much better than yesterday. I don't know if they are going to need to operate on this disk or not, but he still isn't stable enough for an operation yet.... I think its where the disk burst or something and leaked fluid which is pressing on something which is stopping his back legs working???? so not sure if that heals itself or not... But we are allowed to go and see him today and he is allowed a few things from home as well, so we have got his doggy smelly blanket and some fish for dogs and a chewy toy. We are all feeling a bit more positive today!
  7. What do you mean Kazz.............what truth about RDR??
  8. I love heavy rock, the heavier the better................I thought these were very good until he started um singing
  9. My Chemical Romance currently in my CD player in the car.
  10. But still, the above in itself is so so wrong as it gives the impression that the said rescue/person has done something wrong when it hasn't
  11. Really Lindsey? I don't remember that bit..............where the hell did he get that from, that's ridiculous and slanderous Me.............children
  12. We now have 12 dogs in boarding and 11 dogs in the pound, we are at the point now where we are looking at not being to help them all...................that kills me and IF it does come to that I am really not sure how I will cope
  13. About 3 or 4 but we had 2 in yesterday as well and a Rottie
  14. We have had 10 dogs in today..............I can't believe it
  15. I am just about to leave work. We have had 10 dogs in today, my dinner and breaks have been spent getting the details of those dogs so I haven't had time to properly read all the posts yet but I will catch up when I get home. A couple of things did jump out at me though and I quickly wanted to answer. With regards to RDR stopping posting the poundies on DP. One morning my "poundies" thread dissappeared without any warning, somebody rang me up whilst I was on my way to work asking where it had gone. I checked on my break thinking there must be a reason, surely I would have a PM waiting for me with an explanation or something.........but nothing. I contacted one of the mods and was told that my "poundies" thread was in Xchange Not being a member of Xchange I couldn't see my own thread. After a couple of days I was made a member and told that I could only post the poundies in Xchange in the future. I didn't really see much point as at the time the rescues in there didn't offer much help with the exception of maybe one but I thought that I would give it a go............what else could I do? Unfortunately I was right, I didn't get much response and so stopped posting. Thankfully The Refuge has a "poundie" section and being in the public view lot's of people have been made aware of the "poundie" situation and I have gained much support As we make it very clear that we DO NOT re-home the poundies direct to members of the public we do not have a problem with requests from members of public and if we did, don't you think it should be my decision as to whether we can handle that or not, not somebody elses. Our transport co-ordinator was put on pre-mod for something she said on here ages ago which as I have said before meant her posts were sat on for too long and so we stopped posting transport requests. None of the above choices were ones we really wanted to make but felt we were forced into making. With regards to RDR NEVER posting on DP, we did when we felt we needed to, ie. if we had a fully assessed dog for re-homing (like at the present time we have quite a few). I have also posted poundies in Xchange if really really desperate.............like little Zuki recently, so Carol I suggest you look that little bit harder Edited because I forgot to say....................yes Carol I am currently banned!
