  1. Looks great Marge. My one tomato plant is still only about 1 centimetre above soil but starting to sprout leaves. My courgettes and cucumbers all died. The courgettes just seemed to go mouldy and rot. Nothing else grew except a couple of spring onions which I'm praying over every day. Lidl and Aldi over here didn't get any veggie plants in yet. Might take a trip to Homebase next week. I've a lot of catching up to do lol
  2. Well done Martyn, that's great
  3. Our camera club was asked by a local hotel to enter photos for their brochure/website. I've been picked as a finalist in one of the categories. Prize giving and winners will be announced on 28th May. I'm delighted
  4. Happy birthday Archie
  5. Well after thinking about metal joins and bamboo sticks, I came up with the solution. I fixed the fly paper to a length of timber and tied the timber to a metal pole. So the only thing getting sticky is the timber.........and the flies I still might look into the solar powered zapper Thanks for the assistance
  6. They're all lovely but your rhodo is stunning.
  7. I like both those ideas girls I never though of a solar powered fly zapper. Thank you
  8. Unfortunately my greenhouse is not a glasshouse (I wish it was). It's a cheapy plastic one so sticky sucky cup things won't work. Even if I tie it to a metal pole, it would still make a sticky mess which is what I'm trying to avoid. I was thinking of trying to put it inside a cardboard roll, say from tinfoil, cutting chunks out of the roll at the front and hanging that. I just need to use more tinfoil lol Keep the ideas coming
  9. No I didn't get any plants yet. My little tomato plant is sprouting some leaves so I have a little bit of hope But I will want more plants. Thanks Griff. I don't see anything on the Irish website for the plants but usually the Irish and UK stuff is the same I think. I bought some fly paper to hang in the greenhouse. It comes in a roll that you unfurl. The only way I can hang it is along the "wall" but it makes a terrible sticky mess (as I think you can see from my pot storage photo). Any ideas how I can use these without them sticking to the wall? I hate things buzzing around me
  10. How's the Water Von Trapp working?
  11. My butt Do you think it's too far from my greenhouse I needed somewhere to store my spare pots and all floor space is needed for plants. So hanging basket anyone
  12. I think I'll get some plants. My porch can be like a glasshouse if the sun is shining but there's no heating in it so if no sunshine, it's colder than my greenhouse but I might try it. My strawberry plants are thriving. Of the seeds that I planted - courgettes and cucumbers are doing the best but they still should be further on. OH connected my water butt and I must post photos of it and my wonderful pot storage idea (well I think it's wonderful lol)
  13. That doesn't instill much confidence in me so. Mine were planted on 8/3/12
  14. Everything here is verrrrryyyy slow. I'm blaming the cold and lack of sun. Marge, those photos that you posted of tom plants in RMF - were they from seed and if so when did you plant them? I have one tom (money maker) barely above surface.
  15. Origami seedling pots from newspaper
  16. The water butt in Aldi is of course 100 litre. Not much point having a 1 litre butt
  17. Wow I'm having butt envy Speaking of butts lol. Aldi have water butts on Thursday, 1 litre size and includes stand. If I can get €25 together, I shall be purchasing Great work Marge.... and Keith of course
  18. Archie and Sadie make a lovely couple I can see why they're quite smitten with each other
  19. My outside tap is dripping slightly. It's connected to the water softener so it's salty water. Would this be bad for my plants/veggies? I hate the water being wasted (I'll have to get a new tap, it's not just a simple washer issue, when I have a few bob) so it would be great if I could use a bucket to collect it and use it.
  20. We had that yesterday afternoon also. I was in the hen house at the time which has a corrugated roof. It was very noisy. The hens came running in and went running out straight away having decided being pelted with hailstones was better than the noise Andy is having a sleepover in his Nana's tonight and tomorrow night. The house is very quiet and I've checked his room twice to see what he's up to
  21. Hi Sara Marge, I loved your photos last year of your harvests and I look forward to them again this year. I hope I'll have some pics this year too.....but on a smaller scale than yours I've heard of seed strips but never of seed disks. Sounds handy
  22. I officially welcome you Alex to the veggie thread
  23. Jade has left us She was an ex-battery so I can console myself with the fact that she had a wonderful twelve months with us. But I still
