    Dog Found

She came to pick him up with her father and toddler, she'd just finished work. It was actually her ex husband that rang the dog warden. When asked what condition the dog was in he said he hadn't seen him for a while but he was okay then. He said the children last saw him at 3.30pm yesterday but I had him a good 45 mins before that. Turns out he was registered with my vet but hadn't been there since 2007 when he had his first puppy jabs (didn't return to finish them) Myself and groomer tried our best to be diplomatic whilst still giving her the facts of his condition. I couldn't believe she hadn't noticed any matting, that is all he consisted of. The dog did seem pleased to see them I have to say and she also asked us if she owed us any money. We said she owed us nothing but to be more diligent in the care of the little man in future. To get him vet checked, chipped, tagged etc etc. She admitted she knew nothing at all about the breed. We didn't want to sound too bossy and asked her to call one of us if she found she couldn't cope and wanted to rehome him or to ask anything. Groomer knew about breed (I don't) and said he needed brushing every day. Vet said up to us if to inform RSPCA and just at least have it logged in case of any repeat episode. To be honest we both felt that he would be better being rehomed as nobody in their right mind could not see that the little man was very severely matted and uncomfortable. I think with her marriage breakdown, job and children etc she's finding it difficult to cope. Just hope she decided to rehome if not coping. One good thing, I know most of the people in the road she lives in (one I know said they weren't at all surprised by the news), I let her know I knew them too. I did say when I'm round there I'll knock and see how he's doing, and she said "yeah". Here's hoping

    Dog Found

Just realised I've put this in the wrong place Yes myself and Lynn (groomer) ended up fighting over who was going to have the pleasure of his company. Dog warden said we could be done for clipping him unless it was deemed necessary for his health. Vet said if any comeback on that front she will state that it was very necessary. Took us hours to clip him and he was as good as gold, kept giving me sloppy kisses, he weighed 8 kilos then when clipped 7.3 kilos. He only cried when his feet were being done, we took our time and were very gentle. Vets gave us some food and ear cleaner for him. Lynn knows someone in Bichon Frise rescue so is contacting them to see if someone will foster him for the 28 days. I had to leave around 6.45 pm after we'd got back from vets for the second time to try for chip after grooming. Lynn was going to shower him and then finish off his groom, she's keeping him overnight and we'll go from there tomorrow. Margaret who fosters small older dogs for Dogs Trust kindly lent us a lovely fleecy waterproof coat as he'll feel the cold now. Looking at the pics it's no wonder we fell instantly in love, even the girls at the vets did too. We called him "Mattie" Done except for his shower and finishing touches One of the very large pieces of matted hair. Can't wait to see him tomorrow

Just popped to front of Heath to give Sham a wee around 2.30 pm and have just got back in now. There was what looked like a Bichon Frise chasing the other dogs on the Heath wanting to play with them. Waited and didn't see any owner, chatting to the others. The poor thing was dreadfully matted, skanky eyes, ears and bottom. Took me ages to get the slip lead on him. Took him to my vets who scanned him but couldn't find a chip, then took him to my groomers, reported it to dog warden etc etc. You could not see his skin his coat was so matted, even round his manhood and his feet I can't describe how matted they were, the pads he walked on were pads of inches thick fur. He's about two years old, unneutered, will put some pics up later. Vet said whoever let him get in that state wants prosecuting, we've a feeling it could be a old person who hadn't realised how bad he was but that's just speculation. Will put some piccies up later
  5. Just a couple more Caledonian canal, love it there and walked for hours. Time for a nap Lindy doesn't like water Ruby out for the count and having a cuddle
  6. In Scotland on the Black Isle, weather fantastic all week. Sham showed us all up, we were all doddery after walking miles and she was still raring to go. Cottage situated in Ord Hill forest so fantastic walking from the gate although we did venture to other places. Couple of frosty mornings so Sham had her lightweight coat on. Ruby on Dornoch beach, it's beautiful there Sham wishing doddery Dad would hurry up Lindy did get a treat too Sham found a crab We love Scotland, can't wait to go back
  7. Fireworks still going off here. Had a terrible night, my neighbours set fireworks off on the heath and one of them flew astray bounced off my car and hit my front door with a big bang and flash, nearly gave me a heart attack and Ruby freaked out as she hates fireworks, the other two started barking for England. I opened the front door and couldn't breathe for the smoke, heard mutterings outside but had to close the door so I could breathe. Found out later my car is marked, then other neighbours started so I've had Ruby stressing all night then she was sick twice. None of them would go out for a wee so hope there are no accidents tonight. Glad we're going away to a remote place on Saturday as no doubt there will be a repeat.
  8. Poor Rosie, I hope she's found safe and well.
  9. Michelle has no chance when Sham sets her sights on something hairy or furry. Ohhhhhhh, just read that back and it sounds disgusting.
  10. It's for anyone really, just that Michelle knew I was trying to get it on her last night and she kept running off with it in her gob and then took it to her bed.
  11. Finally managed to get Sham in the dracula wig but no mask I'm afraid. Usually she's brill with anything but she shook it off in seconds, she'd sooner play with it and take it to bed with her. Anyway she said she's off now to pack for her hols on Saturday as she's at the hairdressers on Friday for her bouffant and looking at that hairstyle she needs it.
  12. Just got in from a Halloween party at my nieces, had a brill laugh, dance etc and we're all well sozzled so to speak. Best mate staying overnight but she best not get up too early in the morning or else. Oh, and my mask and wig went down a storm, so much so that I hardly got to wear it, everyone else had a go. Think I need sleep now though, yawnnnnnnnnn.
  13. Have added to my Facebook page as lots of peeps from Wigan on there. Best of luck and give me a shout if any help needed.
  14. Happy 10th gotcha day Max Hope you enjoyed your salmon and eggs (Sham says can she come and share next time please).
  15. Thank the lord I was on the road and my sister rang me, she said she knew I was out and she'd been checking doglost and knew I'd want to know that Tillie was home. What a relief, what a clever girl finding her way home, little minx, bet she well scoffed the salmon. Well done everyone, you're flippin stars.
  16. Jo just reminded me how she absolutely devoured my cocktail sausages so she is food motivated, not sure that helps. Just hope she's found soon, she must be so frightened. She had no problem at all with my OH or Jo's hubby, OH got her out the crate for a walk at the services etc and she was fine with him and the noise of the motorway right beside us.
  17. There's no info coming up on that link Ange, nor the Facebook link, not sure if it's just me??? Just found it at the bottom of the page, was looking in the pink box.
  18. Oh nooooooooo, I hope she's found safe and well soon.
