  1. I'll get at least as much pleasure out of it as he will

Bless him I hope he enjoys his wheels
  3. We've been at work today and he has been ever so good and was very, very pleased to see us when we came home. Pete is taking him out every morning for about 3/4 hour and we have been taking him to the forest as well for about 1 1/2 hours. Tonight though I decided to do some road walking, instead of forest, because he has to learn not to pull on the lead. He did very well really and I think he'll soon learn with a bit of patience. I also did a bit of obedience heelwork with him, only about 10 minutes of training and he did manage about 4 steps of lovely heelwork. It's a joy to train a dog which is so toy obsessed, he's too old now for serious obedience work which is a shame I think he would have done very well in the right hands. I've no intention of getting serious about obedience training with him but as he learns so quickly I'm going to teach him the basics of obedience and probably some simple Working Trials stuff, such as searching and tracking.
  4. I tried taking photo's in the living room last night, but really a black dog on a dark green carpet or sofa, in poor light is impossible. I forget to take the camera into the forest with us but I've taken a few in the garden A closer one of his head cos he is very handsome Jas with a piece of wood he stole and this one, after he had been told off, dried off and sent to his bed after being almost entirely submerged in the fish pond He really does have an amazingly curly coat, when he is wet through it goes into quite tight curls.
  5. I'm so pleased he's safely home Well done Snatch
  6. Lots of positive thoughts for lovely Snatch
  7. I'm sorry it wasn't better news and I hope you don't find any more lumps. Positive thoughts on the way for the lovely girlie
  8. I'll try and get some tonight in the living room, not at the moment though because all that is sticking out from under the pooter table is his tail. They will be bad piccies though because of the light in here. It pizzed down all day again, didn't stop until it was almost dark.
  9. No photo's yet I'm afraid. It has pizzled down here all day and I've discovered how difficult it is to photograph a black dog, constantly moving, in the rain I think he has had a nice day. He had a pre breakfast ( dog breakfast that is, we don't eat as often as they do ) walk with Pete. Came home had breakfast and a rest, then a game of ball in the garden, then a sleep then 1 1/2 hours run in the forest. He came home and got in the fish pond for a good long drink - we do have to do something about that, the fish and frogs won't be happy about it. Apart from a few ambles round the garden he has pretty much slept since then. I don't think he slept well last night and he had a very long day. Today he has been much more relaxed and happily laid on his side and slept peacefully. He's had a few grumbles at Bruin when he has been having a cuddle and Bru has got too close but it's nothing to worry about, just a bit of insecurity I think. He really is a lovely boy and I'm very, very grateful to Sue and Steve
  10. Poor Bertie, hope he's soon feeling much better
  11. I have a new addition I haven't taken any photo's of him yet, so until I do which will hopefully be tomorrow, there is just a link to his rehoming thread http://www.rykat.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=31159 Jasper isn't my usual sort of dog, he isn't a full GSD, he isn't old and he isn't already broken but there is a bit of a story to Jasper. When I got back from the Vets after having Blythe pts I logged onto here, the last post showing on Homes Needed was a post about Jasper. I don't normally look at Dogs Needing Homes but I clicked onto Jasper's thread. I immediately felt that Jasper was 'my dog'. I also knew there was no way I wanted to bring a new, relatively young, dog in for what was bound to be the last few weeks or months of Lasso's life. I kept checking his thread to see if he had been homed, all the while convinced that he was waiting for me. Shortly after loosing Lasso I contacted Jackysian and Reb ( his foster Mum Sue ). Jasper was still looking for a home and sounded like an ideal addition to our family. After several phone calls he arrived here today His lovely foster Mum, Sue, and her partner Steve very kindly brought him all the way to us. We met them before they got here and took Jasper and Bruin for a run in the forest, then came home and had a cup of tea. It's early days yet to say that Bruin and Jasper will be best friends but they are certainly getting along OK. Jasper is obviously missing Sue and Steve at the moment and I expect he will take a few days to settle without them but hopefully he will settle and will enjoy life with us. Huge thanks to Jackysian for initially posting about him and to Sue and Steve for looking after him so well and then being kind enough to allow us to have him. There will be loads of photo's and he is even more handsome now that he has had a few months of TLC from Sue and Steve.
  12. I haven't insured any of mine for years, Bruin is now too old to insure but when I get another dog then I will insure him. From February 2007 to February 2008 our Vets bills were in the region of £11,000. As a rough guess there would have been about £1500 of that we couldn't have claimed back. If Bruin were insured I would save at least £300 a year on medication, without anything he has on top of his normal stuff. To be honest the £11,000 has nearly bankrupted us, £1500 would have been relatively easy to find.

    Logan Crisis!

I hope you're feeling much better now Logan and that it's only Mum's bank account that has been damaged. I know you were a very good boy at the Vets, so congratulations for that.

    Alison !

Ladies, I promise you I don't have a Wollemi pine cutting. If I ever get one large enough to take cuttings I promise I shall give you both one. Alison - was a reply to your PM
  15. Your PM box is full I can't nag you in private if I can't message you
  16. You don't show off your dogs any where near often enough. They are and we should see more of them
  17. Well, if you insist It saves me thinking of something else Just think of all you would gain by getting Sol a GSD girlfriend. You wouldn't have to spend loads of money on bling cos she'd be dead 'ard and not want posh stuff. Two dogs are 20 times as much fund as one dog Loads and loads of other things that I can't think of at the moment, as well as making Sol happy
  18. They are but I expect they will come down in price considerably once there are plenty on the market. I hope so, I'd like one but couldn't afford one at current prices. In about 10 years time I expect they will be affordable.
  19. I think it is a Wollemi Pine, I don't know what they look like as babies but that would be my guess based on the description of the bark. I shall now have to find something else to nag you about
  20. I have sent you a nice new habitat for him so he can come out of his white box. If you keep looking after him then I may keep sending you gifts. If you list what foods he likes I may even feed him I've always got loads of fluff money
  21. And I have bought you both It's very, very silly and very amusing I've been trying to work out who john kehoe is, now I know I thought Facebook was very stupid. Now I'm hooked Theresa you are not looking after your fluffy friend - naughty owner !!!!!!!
