  1. Just over 24 hours to the end of this auction, there are lots of really nice items to bid on, far too many to list, more have been added since the auction started. The auction closes tomorrow, Sunday, at 8pm, don't forget and loose the items you want. Rescue Remedies have over 80 dogs in their care, most are in kennels, the money from the auction is going to make a really big difference to them as all of it will be going to paying kennel fees and vet bills which are also on the large side.
  2. A picture of innocence, it wasn't me mum Sarah, he looks so happy, I do love the Staffy grin, no matter how down in the dumps you are, they always make you smile.
  3. A friend who is a vet technician in the USA has just posted this. A suffering pet gets stem-cell breakthrough surgery By dawn house The Salt Lake Tribune Published Sep 17, 2010 10:48PM Updated Sep 18, 2010 12:20AM Holladay • Honey, a 9-year-old Labrador retriever, underwent a first-ever procedure for Utah that is expected to heal the dog’s hip dysplasia. The stem-cell procedure, performed Friday at Cottonwood Animal Hospital, involved removing fatty tissue from Honey’s shoulder and separating out the stem cells in a process that includes light-emiting diodes. Veterinarian Rob Bagley then injected the activated cells back into the animal’s diseased joints. “I’m excited about the potential this procedure will have for pet owners,” said Bagley. “The technology is relatively simple, and looks like it can offer some great results.” Assisting Bagley was Mike Hutchinson, a Pittsburgh veterinarian who has performed more than 75 similar treatments on dogs and cats. “This new technology marks a significant milestone in regenerative veterinary medicine,” said Hutchinson. “We are now able to bring the results of hundreds of millions of dollars of research directly into our own clinics.” The cost for Friday’s operation: $1,800. Hutchinson also is a small-animal spokesman for the Australian-based MediVet, which has introduced same-day stem cell therapy to treat hip dysplasia like Honey’s, as well as arthritis, ligament and cartilage injuries and other degenerative diseases. No drugs were used, other than an anesthetic. And animals usually wake up pain free. The greatest post-op concern, said Hutchinson, is that animals feel so well that they can re-injure themselves by becoming active too soon.
  4. Many dogs will hump when stressed, Sweetie has only just joined your gang and will be very stressed. When taking on a new dog I always give then new dog and my established dogs Rescue Remedy for about a week, this gives them a better start. When we first took Samantha on, she was a Rough Collie/Lab, she knocked them all over like skittles, the oldest was 5, youngest 3, yes she did on occasion knock them over but they were never hurt. My sons grew up with Sam, she was their shadow, she taught them so much.
  5. Hi Mese, Sweatie is a much better name for him, he is far to nice to be Tyson
  6. I had Ellie on Cortaflex, www.cortaflex.co.uk she became a new dog and started to get into mischief which I loved. I put a friend onto it for her dog, her very lazy JRT became an normal JRT getting into mischief and ratting. Another friend was so amazed at the difference in Dudley that she got it for her cat. I also take it, I have arthritis in one of my hips, the other has been replaced, and both knees, instead of struggling to do jobs round the house I am a lot more agile and doing a lot more, I need to with every room to decorate Dudley's mum put her husband on this, again a big change in him, he is back to doing things that he hasn't been able to do for several years, gardening, jobs round the house etc. I can't speak highly enough of Cortaflex, it has given me my life back
  7. I do hope he doesn't loose this Riley, the only dogs that haven't come back to me are Gracie and Ellie, Gracie is far too busy which was normal for her and Ellie went to someone else because I was so upset, it was the day she died. I do believe there is a higher life which as humans we label like we do with everything else, to me heaven is a name given by humans, religions have different names for many things that are the same. There are lots of things which we have forgotten what to to, when someone asks for healing on here there has been some amazing results. I do think we can all be in touch with those that have passed over as well as talk to animals, the problem is that we have forgotten how to do it. I suspect that J also has conversations with your dogs One Eyed Dog, I would hate to go were there are none of my dogs or my horse, they have helped me develop into the person I am now and will always be with me because I can't change that, don't want to either.
  8. I am doing an online auction for Rescue Remedies, they have so many dogs in kennels many needing vet treatment and are desperate for funds. Bidding starts tomorrow http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/forum79.php as soon as I can unlock the items and closes at 8pm on Sunday, 26th September. We have some lovely items up for auction as well as Ellie, Joe, Gracie and Merlin's coats, they no longer need them so they can make money to help other dogs. Other lovely items, an agility jump with wings, hand made leather collar and lead worth over £100, a week's holiday in a caravan that can sleep 8, D & G bracelet watch, Family or pet portrait session with prints, dog walk on Hampstead Heath by a professional dog walker and Dog sitting for a weekend, dog to stay with them for 3 nights as well as lots more items.
  9. All the bad things about Staffies are published nationally, when something good happens we rarely hear about it. Not nice but thanks to a Staffy this baby was saved. http://www.thisiscroydontoday.co.uk/news/Family-s-pet-dog-saves-baby-s-life/article-2625812-detail/article.html
  10. It is probably me, I always get this type of thing wrong, sorry.
  11. I am running an online Auction for Rescue Remedies to raise funds for vet bills and kenneling, the auction opens on Wednesday, 15th September, closes at 8pm on Sunday, 25th September. Up to now we have a week's holiday in a caravan, this is an 8 berth caravan and will be a really good holiday for the winning bidder. There is also a beautiful hand made leather collar and lead, valued at £100 which would really suit Tilly but I still have a vet bill to pay unfortunately or I would have this. Also quite a few dog coats in good condition, some are suitable for Staffies as they are deep cut, my little Ellie's coats are in this auction as well as her hand made leather harness, so do fit Staffies. There are other items as well and hopefully we will get more. Please come and support this auction and help save the dogs. http://rescueremedies.myfastforum.org/f ... 1063035383
  12. I keep my dog food in http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9372080&fh_view_size=10&fh_location=%2f%2fcatalog01%2fen_GB&fh_search=pedel+bins&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&ts=1283511341320&isSearch=true I can get a 15Kg sack in easily and they also look good. I find them easy to use and my dogs can't get into them, not even Dolly I find them easy to move as well.
  13. It isn't just the protein % that is relevant, what is more important is were the protein comes from, far too many dog foods use poor protein which causes problems, the dog food with good protein in rarely causes problems no matter what the % is.
  14. I am so sorry Michaela, Reiki on the way for everyone who needs it including you. If you want to talk you know where I am, mums are special, no matter what we do they still love us.
  15. Reiki on the way for Scratchy and mum to help them through this.
  16. Ellie came to me for 10 in 2007, she had come into the pound in terrible condition and with 2 large tumours, on her 7th day RDR took her over, took her to the vet to have the tumours taken off, the following day she came to me to recuperate before going to a Staffy Rescue. The day before Ellie was due to have her stitches out the rescue said they no longer had room for Ellie, it was decided that she would stay with me until a new home was found for her. At that time what nobody realised, though others did quite quickly, Ellie had already decided she wasn’t moving on to anyone else, she was staying even though she preferred to be an only dog and had to live with 5 others. Ellie fitted in really well, she is the best temperamented dog I have ever had and that is saying something, she was so good with other dogs, people and children, a dream of a dog to have as long as you wanted the same as she wanted otherwise she could decide she was having her own way. Ellie’s breathing has never been good, in January 2009 she went in to have 2 lumps taken off and couldn’t breath, thanks to my vets I have had another 20 months with her, they put a tracheotomy in and gave her a new life. Apart from having another 4 lumps taken off during the following 8 months, Ellie was fit and well, she could breath properly for the first time and really enjoyed her life especially being away in the caravan which she loved. A few weeks ago Ellie nearly died because the tracheotomy blocked with scar tissue, after a mad drive to the vets trying to keep her airway open the vets put a bigger tracheotomy in and Ellie came home. Several times it blocked with dried mucus but was easy to clear. We have spent the last few weeks just enjoying each other’s company, she went everywhere I went whenever I was able to take her. Being such a good dog, she was easy to take round with me. I woke up at 5am this morning, Ellie looked asleep but wasn’t quite right, she had passed away in her sleep and was still warm. She looked so peaceful in her final sleep. Sleep well Ellie, I am sure Gracie, Joe and Merlin will take care of you and you are now with your daddy who you never met on earth, he will also take good care of you. You are my 4th dog to go to the Rainbow Bridge in 11 months, My heart is breaking. Ellie’s pound picture The day she arrived. 2 months later In the caravan showing the tracheotomy site Bedtime, Ellie and Merlin One of my all time favourite photos, Ellie with her sister Gracie and brother Joe, they often slept like this, now all 3 are at the Bridge together along with Merlin.
  17. Is all the profits going to the Royal British Legion or just the advance? The last I heard this hadn't been made clear. If it is just the advance the Blaire will still make money, if all the profits go, they can do a lot of good to the ex service men. I don't care if he is doing this through guilt or not, he has to live with the guilt not me, if it is through guilt, he will find it won't really help, the guilt will keep coming back.
  18. I thought you meant I was boring and was ready to come across to "Meet" you.
  19. This confuses me, what is meant by interesting people? I find people interesting and how they interact with each other, sometimes we have to see under the writing to see the real person because some are not very good at putting their thoughts into word like me, I am often misunderstood but that doesn't mean there is something wrong. We do have to remember that we can't see each other's body language which tells us a lot about what that person is saying. If we could see each other there may be less accusations of people not getting on. Many people don't post because they can't put what they are saying very well, think I am digging a big hole at the moment. It only takes a comma in the wrong place to turn a happy, chatty post into an aggressive, attacking post so we do need to take this into account when reading them.
  20. I had to keep the dogs off fo 24 hours 3 times, they put a plank across at the front for them to walk on and also a big cage for them to go into to toilet. The first was for the concrete to set, then for the top of concrete to dry and set, and again for the final coat which was a sealant. The front is cobbled, my drive is very steep so got cobbles there for more grip. Any firm will come out and show you the different colours and patters, if you do decide to do this, don't use Impress Paving, I had to threaten to take them to court to get the final sealant put on.
  21. You can still get it at B&Q
  22. Thhank you, I have gone for easy maintainance makes housework so much easier when you get to my age. All the big jobs have been done, I do need to decorate from top to bottom now but that will have to wait.
  23. There has been other work done, the drive is in pressed concrete to look like cobbles, the loft has been boarded up and a loft ladder put in. 2 doors have been replaced, the electrics checked and a burgler alarm put in. Thanks to Merlin and Ellie who are well over there limit for insurance, between them they have completely wiped my money out
  24. Bathroom - before it was horrible, it looks a lot better than it was on the photos, the shower didn't work and the shower curtain so so covered in mold that it wouldn't wash off. New bathroom, the bath has been taken out and a shower the size of the bath put in, the walls are not tilede but it is a tonge and grove plastic sheets, the walls look lovely. Unfortunately you can't see the shower properly thanks to the reflection. My new radiator
  25. Kitchen - before New kitchen New floor
