  1. I don't do fancy stuff, but Happy Birthday Cheryl!!
  2. Thanks for that Ian, your timing was impeccable. I'd just had 12 year old son in tears because (amongst other things) his 14 year old brother had been spreading stories about him in school. I sat them both down and told them this story, and 14 year old has taken it on board and aplogised to his brother
  3. I think one of the biggest problems with store gift vouchers is if the store goes into receivership, they rarely accept them - this was a problem with several stores including Woollies Especially tough on children who'd been given vouchers and were perhaps saving to buy something special.
  4. That has made my day - my old boy was 17 when I had to have him pts , but he still managed to jump on my bed every night
  5. He looks very much like my first dog (as a grown up) bless him, hope he's reunited with his owners soon, he looks like a sweetie
  6. I am tracing my family tree, and my GGG Grandmother's father is JK Rowlings GGG Grandfather's brother (possibly) From the same family - my GGGG Grandmother was a member of the Jaques family who are famous for making 'garden games' - boules etc. OH used to be a relief manager for Unwins the wine merchant - he's met loads of famous people, including Lemmy from Motorhead. My boss DJ'd the Maclaren F1 team's Championship winning party in 2008 (Lewis Hamilton) and the Red Bull end of season party this year (2009)
  7. Can I just say a HUGE thank you to all the truckers and delivery drivers who are battling through horrendous conditions to get supplies through.
  8. Thanks for all the help, she's looking a bit brighter today, moving more easily. The wound is still draining, mostly clear 'stuff' but just a trace of something more yukky occasionally. She's not really eating, but happy to take her tablets from Aunty Fran if they are crushed and mixed in some warmed through tuna. She's drinking a lot too. Next vets appt tomorrow @ 09.30
  9. Fee thank you so much, I have some Manuka Honey in my cupboard!
  10. My boss has a lovely 4 year old Dalmatian. Yesterday, almost as they watched, she developed an abscess to the left hand side below her tail. IT has been drained, but she's still feeling very sorry for herself (although she has at least taken her anti biotics when Aunty Fran hand fed her them in some tinned Tuna warmed in the microwave). The wound is about 2cm long, and the tissue around it is very bruised. The vets aren't 100% sure it's caused by her anal glands - at first they thought it was a bite, but couldn't find an entry point She has suffered with her glands in the past, but it's not something any of my dogs have had. Does anyone have any info? Healing thoughts wouldn't go amiss either.
  11. A potato peeler - yes, a potato peeler! From MIL (ofcourse) and OH insists I once said I wanted this particular type of potato peeler (it fits into a frame and becomes a mini mandoline as well).......... OH bought me a supa doopa food processor and an IKEA sheepskin, so that made up for it
  12. IIRC Simon is a big animal lover.
  13. I took Missy to a TTouch workshop with Marie Miller who worked with her briefly, before saying it would be better if I worked with her as she was obviously not enjoying what Marie was doing.
  14. I seem to remember Sarah using a paint brush and then a false hand/arm in the TTouch TV programme she did - is this a possible idea to bridge the gap for the time being?
  15. That sounds great. The company I work with does a lot with kids like this, and once you tap into them, they can do some wonderful stuff. It's very rewarding.
  16. any chance of getting him vet checked just in case the grumpiness is caused by something medical?
  17. Bonnie, aka Bonnie Bombats, wimble, womble, Wibbly wobs, and daft bat.
  18. It's us who should be thanking you for the amazing work you do.
  19. I did a follow up home check this morning - the owner was a lovely lady in her late 70's, very intelligent and 'lived a full life', I found her so easy to talk to - we chatted for 2 hours!!...... Is this a record?
  20. Pauls 14 year old Buster was PTS after being diagnosed not long ago with cancer. RIP Buster - enjoy your days over the Rainbow Bridge until Paul and all the rest of your friends join you
  21. Missy my Springer is like that when the smoke alarm goes off. She also barks like mad at squeaky stairs, although we have managed to stop her barking at squeaky doors.......
  22. I work from my bosses home office - his dog has recently taken to eating the leaves from the Michaelmas Daisy plant in the garden I've checked out the poisons list, and it's not there. Do any of your folks who are into your herbal potions know what she might be seeking from this plant? Thanks
