Lizzie
Nico has come out in little bumps all over his head, I think it could be a bee sting. Is it OK to give a human piriton tablet, just to get some anti histamine into his system? Last time I saw this was on our 1st pointer many years ago and I can't remember what the vet said. blackmagic
I have seen Piriton recommended for allergies. You could phone your vet and ask them.

Ian
As said you can use piriton or other some other anti histamines without harm providing it's not in the mouth / throat & your dog isn't showing any severe allergy / reaction or alternatively there are some other remedies If it's a bee sting the stinger is likely to be left in the skin & still pumping the poison in. Scrape it away with a credit card and then bathe with a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to half a pint of water. A wasp doesn't leave a stinger & should be bathed in vinegar mixed 50/50 with water http://www.sprinzandnash.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=15&Itemid=20 http://www.cedarvets.com/information/emergency.php Dosages for various anti histamines here http://www.ingleburnvet.com.au/antihistamines.htm If using Benadryl it needs to contain Diphenhydramine only (there is one with other ingredients that shouldn't be given to dogs)
Lizzie
Many thanks for all your advice Silly little beggar was chasing bumble bees and assorted other insects, can't find a sting on him. Gave him a piriton and just under an hour later he was back to normal. Bouncy and inquisitive, into much mischief as usual.
