Coucil To Refuse To House Owner Of 'Weapon Dogs'

mellow.gif “It’s the crosses that are likely to be giving us problems, such as pitbull crosses,†no preconceptions there then & surely the same "problem owners / dogs" will just move across town & into private rentals?

Residents will need specific permission for every dog. If we start getting evidence that certain breeds are causing problems, then we would say no to those being in our properties

So regadless of how well behaved and socialised the dog is, if a few others belonging to same breed are owned by irresponsible and abusive owners, they will all be banned regardless? Great logic.

Existing tenants will be subject to surveillance to ensure that their dogs are not intimidating residents and neighbours

When are people going to realise that dogs don't voluntarily go out to intimidate and harm people? Those that are unfortunate enough to find themselves belonging to the idiots that use them for this purpose are abused and coerced into behaving in such a way, mainly out of fear and neglect.

This makes me so angry.

If people own any animal for the purpose of intimidating or harming others, then they shouldn't be entitled to housing anyway. Taking the dog away isn't going to solve the problem, they will simply find other ways to carry out their anti-social behaviour.

The only victims of this legislation are the dogs.

This council is head of the list for Antidogiban membership so this is to be expected. Mind youmost of their socisl housing isnteven supplied by the council butby Housing associations that arecurrently going through s democratisiation of the management committess; So this is most proabbaly just a underhand way of influencing thatmembership.
