Merseyside dogs' home ransacked by thieves

Thieves have ransacked a dogs' home on Merseyside, leaving just enough supplies for the next few days.

At least 20 sacks of food and 15 trays of meat were stolen from the Dogs' Trust in Whiston Lane, Huyton.

Staff are appealing for people to donate tins to keep them going over the Christmas period.

Assistant manager Cathy Stulberg said it could not have happened at a worse time; one of their busiest periods of the year.

She said: "The manager was doing her normal check round, went to the food room and disturbed what we think was a gang.

"They had broken into the shed and taken the hinges off.

"We don't have a lot left and we have 100 hungry mouths to feed."

I've got absolutely nothing that I could help with and everything is closed tomorrow :( Will try and get a sack of something and some treats over to them this weekend - if the roads are driveable. What unbelievable :handjob: :handjob: I hope that the next person to get offered cheap dog food off the back of a lorry will grass them up!

Apparently they have enough food now (at least the thieves left them some). Great to know people have been so generous :)

The staff must have been gutted.

ETA: Just read and seen why some was left - and there was me thinking they must have had a conscience!

Seriously though they have received a lot of donations, thankfully.
