Bella is a 14 year old Wheaten Terrier Cross, currently in an Oldies Club foster home in Beccles, Suffolk. She’s described by her foster family as sweet, loving, gentle and funny and she settled in almost from day one.

At first Bella was a little wary of being touched and kept her tail tucked between her legs. She has poor eyesight and is a little hard of hearing so she is easily startled. She hasn’t taken long to build up her confidence though and she’s now quite a waggy tailed girl who loves tummy rubs.

Bella doesn’t mind being left alone for a few hours and will quite happily get on the sofa for a snooze until you return. You need to hide any bins though, because Bella loves food and is such an inquisitive girl that she wouldn’t miss an opportunity of an exciting bin raid.

Bella loves the company of other dogs and really enjoys cuddling up to her foster family’s dogs. She could live with cats too, but as she barks at them to see if they will play, she’d be better suited to households with confident cats.

Bella seems to be good around children and has met a toddler and the “trick or treaters†who called. She was curious, but very gentle with them. Because she’s quite easily startled though, she would probably be better in either an adult-only home or one with older, sensible children.

Bella likes going out for walks and is still quite active for her 14 years. She likes to stop for regular sniffs and her foster family say she’s a real pleasure to take for a leisurely stroll. Her recall isn’t good though due to her poor hearing.

Bella loves a trip out in the car and sits up looking out of the window or just curls up and sleeps. She wears a harness to stay safe, but she doesn’t need it for restraint as she is very well behaved.

Her foster family say that her ideal home would be one with another dog and a nice garden to potter around in; a home where she will get regular walks, but where she can also cuddle up to her family on the sofa. She needs someone who is gentle and patient with her and takes care not to startle her. A quiet home would be best and it would be perfect if she could find someone who is at home most of the time.

A few words from her foster mum… “Little Bella is an absolute sweetheart. She follows me everywhere and is an active dog despite her age. Stairs are no problem, as is jumping onto beds and sofas. When you come home, she is waiting to greet you. She watches our dog Fergus as he is the guard dog here, so if he says someone is at the door she pushes past him to get there and say hello. I got my first kisses from her today.â€

Bella has a flea allergy so will need to be flea-treated regularly. She is currently on antibiotics for a mild form of kennel cough, but this is clearing up nicely.

Bella has been spayed and flea and worm treated. She will be vaccinated and microchipped before being rehomed.
