Fee
Snowy is a West Highland Terrier who has lived with the same owner all his life. He’s 13 years old and is now in the care of an Oldies Club foster home in Nottingham. His foster family describe him as affectionate, playful, intelligent and happy. It took him about a week to settle in, but he seems to be growing in confidence every day. Snowy doesn’t mind being left alone for a few hours at a time and he’s house-trained, but needs a steady routine in his life. He seems to be okay around other dogs and could probably live with another doggie friend in his new home. There’s a possibility that Snowy could live with cats too, but as he does sometimes get curious and chase, he’ll need further training and a proper introduction. If you have cats and you’re considering adopting Snowy, perhaps you’d like to read our article on Dogs and Cats. Snowy is happy around children, but he has been known to snap in the past when he was startled, so he’d be better in an adult-only home or one with older, sensible children. Snowy is good on the lead, but he doesn’t have very good recall so is having some further training for this. He’s a good boy in the car though and is quite happy being chauffeured around. One of Snowy’s favourite pastimes is sitting on a comfy lap and being stroked, so if you’re looking for a lapdog, Snowy might be just the dog for you! He likes his squeaky toys too or having a good old chew on a rawhide bone, as you can see from one of his photos! Snowy isn’t keen on being picked up, but he will tolerate it. He’s also had a bad experience at the vets in the past, so doesn’t enjoy vet visits. Snowy hasn’t been neutered and the vet believes he’s too old for this now, but he will be fully vaccinated, microchipped and flea and worm treated before he is rehomed. As is common with Westies, Snowy has a skin infection and has lost some hair from his chest and legs. He needs regular baths with prescription shampoo, but the vet believes his hair will grow back in time. ———————- If you’d like to enquire about Snowy, please refer to our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club rehoming co-ordinator as follows: Email: [email protected] Telephone: 0844 586 8656 Snowy can be rehomed anywhere in the UK, subject to a satisfactory home visit, but note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to meet him. Fee
Poor Snowy was due to go home today. He waited patiently with his little bag all packed and his adopters didn't turn up. They have apparently changed their minds and want a younger dog instead Snowy will be a fabulous loyal little companion for someone who understands terriers, there must be someone out there for him! Laura_E
Sorry to sound harsh, but what absolute idiots and time wasters. How could they go through the whole process of filling out an application, having the home visit and then just not bother turning up? Poor Snowy. I'm sure there is a lovely home out there waiting for him, one that will actually be worthy of having him.
zico's mum
how could they do that on the day he was due to go to a new home, but better off without that sort of home by the sounds of it.He'd be lovely here especially as he can be left for a few hours but not while Daisy is so unwell
olivea
Oh poor Snowy - good job he's got a lovely foster family to keep on caring for him. I think it's bad enough changing your mind about adopting but not to bother telling anyone until the day of pick-up - that's just thoughtless!!! Snowy deserves better!
