Phoenyx
Just got a very hard hitting, and brilliant, email from the Burgess foods mailing list. I can't post the actual thing as it has pics in but here's the main text and the pic of Jeremy. Good for them!!! ....and for Jeremy Jeremy only wanted a forever lving home... Yet he was found with injuries described as among the most horrific ever seen. He was emaciated, covered in mange and had bites that went down to the bone causing the loss of an eye. His injuries were so severe it’s suspected that, after he had outlived his usefulness as a racing dog, he’d been used as a training aid for a dog fighting ring. He was taken to Tia Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue in Halifax and it was here, in care of this specialist rescue centre that re-homes more than 250 dogs every year, that Jeremy began his long journey back to health and eventually found his happy new forever home. Whilst many Greyhounds and Lurchers have happy lives, there are others who suffer neglect, abuse and homelessness when they become surplus to requirements. At Burgess we love Greyhounds and Lurchers, so we created Supadog Greyhound and Lurcher, a complete food specifically developed for the nutritional needs of pet Greyhounds and Lurchers. Burgess will donate 20p for every 15kg sack and 5p for every 2.5kg bag bought, to rescue centres belonging to the Alliance of Independent Greyhound Rescues. This is a forever promise to these beautiful, peaceful animals. To find out more about the new Burgess Supadog Greyhound & Lurcher food visit www.burgesspetcare.co.uk Even if you don't own a Greyhound or Lurcher you can still help our 'Make a Purchase, Make a Difference' appeal by making a donation to an independant Greyhound or Lurcher rescue centre through Just Giving or passing this e-mail on to others who might like to help make a brighter future for Greyhounds and Lurchers like Jeremy. You have been sent this message as you have previously subscribed to www.burgesspetcare.co.uk or a friend thought you might be interested in our campaign, if not, we apologise. ClazUK
I bought a sack of this over the weekend. Had to get it in as a special order but wanted to give it a go, because it's full of wonky hound supplements. I had no idea Tia were beneficiaries until I got it, and two of their dogs are on the bag, too. Fantastic. I'll let you know what my two make of it when I start the sack. Peachy
I'm really impressed by this. What a brilliant idea. I've just been reading about their free web hosting for rescues as well, and their loyalty scheme which will help rescues with food

Phoenyx
I've used Burgess food for many years and found it to be the best on the market tbh, the sample of greyhound food I've had is great too. I use their stuff for most of the small animal feed too.
LisaLQ
I'm currently feeding Blu (dane) the sensitive normal Burgess, and despite it's fairly low quality ingredients, he's doing fairly well on it (some spots/skin issues but they're clearing up, and that's fairly normal for danes!). I saw the greyhound and lurcher food online recently, just before Sky died, but never had a chance to try it out (as we'd just bought this). Now I dont have a grey or lurcher to use it on But I think it's great the money is going to Tia as that's where Sky came from.
Karen
Why do you think the sensitive contains low quality ingredients Lisa? Just curious really as it to me it looks better than a lot of other choices.
LisaLQ
I go for as natural as possible foods (well, as natural as you can get from a dried dog food), currently waiting on an order of Skinners duck and rice to try that out. There's a lot of filler in Burgess, which is why it's affectionately known as "Supa-poo" in our house (and others lol). I'm not saying it's naff though - far from it - it's much better than many other foods, and I'd still recommend it
