K9Fran Posted November 8, 2008 Report Share Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) I've always been very sceptical of all the 'hype' and 'news stories' behind these programmes, and the mock 'arguments' behind the scenes making sure the viewing public were dragged along on the ride - but tonight was just a farce - Rachel and Egnog were terrible, Ruth and Laura were 3rd and 4th IMHO but certainly didn't deserve to be in the sing off. I think Simon was right about Laura though. Having watched her "Best bits" at the end, they've 'styled' all the quirkyness out of her, so she lost what made her different. reds Posted November 8, 2008 Report Share Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) Missed the results show but can't believe it I quite like Daniel but Rachel just sounded awful to me Re: the rules, hasn't it always been the same?? When Rick Waller was in Pop Idol he missed one week for pretty much the same reason, the next week he still didn't think he should sing because of potential long term damage to his voice so he then stepped down and withdrew - enter Mr Cheese . merledogs Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2008 I am gobsmacked and gutted that Laura went I am fuming at Simon and Weasel's tactical voting as well - Laura has more talent in her little finger than Ruth, yet Simon voted Laura to go home cos he wants to shag Ruth and the Weasel feared she was too much competition for JLS I won't be watching any more, so that's one viewer they've lost, although in reality I only ever flick to it every now and then these days, much prefer to watch Merlin. I don't think that would be fair as it was for genuine reasons and on medical advice.If it had been her own decision to not sing then yes but it's not it's on specialist advice. JLS are pleasant but hardly mind blowingly good, Diana bores me and Im probably mean in wishing her a prolonged bout of laryngitis in the hope she will go. Normally I watch Strictly & Merlin on BBC1 and just flick over every now and then to catch the singing, but I doubt I'll bother cost there is nobody left watching apart from Alexandra. To me, right from the auditions, it was between Austin, Laura and Diana. Now two of them are gone and of the ones left I only really like Diana and Ruth. Rachel has vanished up her own bum, Daniel is just cabaret, eggnog is beyond awful, JLS are meh. I like Alexandra's voice but it probably speaks volumes that I struggled to remember her. I don't know why but she just doesn't rock my world. I honestly think people vote for the "characters" who aren't all that great eg Rachel and Daniel cos they feel sorry for them and people assume ones like Laura are safe.
