Hevvur
I'm pretty sure my dog has a bit of kennel cough.... I read I can give her some sort of Benelyn....which sort is it?! Don't really want her pumping full of antibiotics from the vets at this stage!! Thanks
clairej810
We had kennel cough back in November. We had to have antibiotics though because Tiny has a weakened immune system due to having mange as a puppy. We were advised to use 5ml of Children's benelyn mixed in with their food. It did help their sore throats! Lots of luck!
mole
Homeopathic remedy Drosera 30c should help with kennel cough. Local non processed honey will help to sooth the throat - local is best as all the goodness won't have been heated out of existence best wishes
kiri_tc
Claire: does Mange weaken the immune system then??? My new girl has got Dermodetic mange at the mo and has got KC too. Will she need antibiotics??
Hevvur
Demodectic mange appears when the immune system is low (Teagan had it as a youngish pup). I will try the benelyn thanks, if that doesn't work, then we will go to the vets
tegk68
When ours had KC a few months ago we used children's benelyn and also spoon fed them a little bit of honey which helped ease their sore throats (they also loved that bit of medicine! ). The combo seemed to work well and they recovered pretty quickly. Hope they get better soon
mum24dog
Demodectic mange appears when the immune system is low (Teagan had it as a youngish pup). My first dog Charlie had demodectic mange as a pup and had a couple of bouts of KC and an allergic reaction to something else in the few months after I got him. However, his immune system did recover and he had no further problems and didn't even catch KC from the next dog I adopted. Pam

Pam Thats great! Teagans immune system seems to have recovered well too! This is the first time she's had KC (I work at a kennels, and we had to take a dog to the vets, and the dog came back with KC), so i'm hoping she may build up a bit of immunity to KC now she's had it.
