cycas
I've just noticed that Az has got sand in one of his ears. I think it was a bit waxy and so the sand has stuck, and now more wax is forming round it. Should I try to clean it out? It's right down inside the sort of carunculated bits, not the floppy bit. I think he probably would sit there and let me try to clear it with a cotton bud, but I am worried about knocking bits down into the ear. Does it need the vet? jane-f
Try some ear drops, even if you go to the vets thats more than likely what they'd give you green tea is good for cleaning ears out, but if you want to buy, the leo ear cleaner is a good one, put the drops in give them a few minuites to work then use a cotton ball to clear what comes out. Muriel
yep, I'd not risk a cotton bud, I'd use a wad of cotton wool.
joa
If you are concerned then yes do vitit your vet. They are likely to recommend an ear wash to help flush out the waxy sand . Or as Janet-f has suggested ear drops to help loosen the wax. I`d be wary of sticking small obects in to clean with incase he moved suddenly . Wendbert
I'd have said the Leo ear cleaner too. Its ever so watery, so you might find that once you've put some drops in and Az shakes his head after, he might dislodge some of the sand anyway
cycas
Actually I think yesterday's extremely wet walk got rid of a lot of it. I'll get some ear cleaner though.
