  8. Oscar is only 7 months old and is already in his second home, he was origanaly taken from a home were he was never walked or trained, the young lad who took him on now can't cope with him, he's a typical puppy whos not had any direction in his life, he's looking for a rescue or a new home, oscar does need some training and needs his jabs and to be neutered, it isnt urgent, but the lad realy cant cope anymore, as oscar is taking over his life to the point - he can't even leave him alone, he's already been chewing wires and messing in the house, hes still with his owner and is in the wigan/leigh area. From meeting him yesterday, i felt he was just a young dog that needs to know what is wanted from him, he wasnt over the top and quite happy in himself, he's around medium size and is propably not going to grow anymore, he has now been socalised with other dogs and people, and all's he wants to do is play. Thanks Jane
  9. Dosen't suprize me - after all PETA would prefare it, if no one had pets of any kind.

  12. You could get a harness with a handle, Andrea22 on LL made this for a dog that had - had some type of stroke, from what i know it did help a lot, and they was able to support the dog when she needed it. http://www.lurcherlink.org/llink/forum/vie...asc&start=0
  13. Will Pm kaye on LL and see if she can contact them, i think kayes registered on hear - but its very rare she comes on.
  14. Yo don't need access to LL's records, all the lost and found are posted on the board, theres a lot so it would take time to look through them. http://www.lurcherlink.org/llink/forum/viewforum.php?f=12

    Advice Needed

Try Manuka Honey you will need the 10+, and it will need bandage changed everyday - you can get it from most places now, on one of the other forums i go on, someone on there - there dog got its tail trapped in the door, and split it down to the bone, the vet wanted to amputate straight away, but with daily bandage changes - using the honey and water flushes, the tail has healed up very well, it did take quite a few weeks for it to heal as he kept knocking it but it did heal up.
  16. Dogs do great after the op, most are up and running around with in weeks, the lurcher link race day we did not long ago, to raise funds for LL, we had a tripod race, all 3 dogs have only had one of there back legs removed with in the last year, Dorry one of the dogs, went through the same - skin graph after skin graft, and it never worked they tried for months, Dorrys owner will even tell you its the best thing she ever did having the leg removed, Dorry is much happier. Not a very good picture, but it shows they can still move like the wind.
  17. The biorb isnt really designed for putting goldfish in to,(although i know it states on the box) they are messy fish and the filters cant cope with them, not to mention they do grow and grow, my last gold fish i had to give, as they did out grow the tank, they was in a 24" tank and they grow to over 8 inches, they now live in a friends pond, for the biorb it would be better to put smaller fish in, mountain minnow or something like guppy's are ideal, although they are tropical - they can live in lower temps, you need to cycle the tank for at least a couple of weeks, until your ammonia levels have dropped, white spot can be cured easily, but the stress of moving to a new tank and the tank not being cycled could have lowered there amunity (sp) even more - so they couldn't fight it.
  18. If you do decide on one - just make sure its securely bolted down to a solid base, i had one and in very high winds it ended up in next doors garden, when i got it back it was that twisted the scrap man ended up taking it.
  19. Can i ask where i have said that, don't think i have, so can you not jump to presumptions - thank you hare coursing is illegal, when a dog is lure coursing it is chasing a "Plastic bag" or on the track its chasing a mechanical hare, And for your information my dog would not rip anything to pieces, she was trained by her old owners to bring live to hand - so i know if she did actually ever catch anything (which i doubt she will shes to old) she would bring it back alive and un-hurt.
  20. The dogs are more important - which is why i and many others take our dogs racing, it is important to me and others that the dogs get to run in a safe environment whilst doing something they love and the track or lure coursing offers that, it is also important to me that my dog is happy, and i know she is at her most happiest when she is chasing something, if i could get that else where i would would happily go. Terrier racing now -i love to see dogs doing what comes naturally and i love to see the dogs coursing, but i think terrier racing needs to be sorted out a bit better, i will never sit and watch them race - as at the end they end up ripping each other to shreds, last year at one of the shows it took five men to separate the terriers as they was just fighting none stop, one of them had riped open the others lips, as the blokes where pulling them apart.
  21. I would say no to all 3, i do know what go's on in the racing industry - have seen it for myself. i have never been involved in the racing industry - and never will be, dont even own a grey. C) wont even answer that one. i would like greyhound racing to go - never have said that i wouldn't, but what does concern me, is what about those people who do it just for the love of seeing there dogs doing something they was breed to do, the love of watching them run and have fun, these people are going to be ostracized because of the want of racing banned, whats to stop it all being banned - including lure coursing, after all its still a form of racing .
  22. I didn't put it down as a valid argument for not banning greyhound racing - where have i said that. what i am basing it on is the amount of clubs and tracks that are now racing whippets, the amount of whippets being breed for racing, there are probably around 30 whippet clubs round the country maby more - i haven't looked properly, most of these are being raced at track's, the track near us - now classes its self as a grey and whippet track, and i know there are mostly whippets being raced there now, i know a few people who race greys that do race whippets as well. as ive said before - the hunting legislation well its a load of c**p, There are still quite a lot of people who hunt with dogs. the only thing it affected was the hunts.
  23. Thats what i would be more worried about once greyhound racing is banned, unless they put something in the ban, then whippet racing could end up taking over, the data base on the BWRA has over 23,624 entries and thats just pedigree whippets, theres no knowing how many non -pedigree's there are racing, at the mo pups dont need to be regesterd (sp) until there ready for racing, so god knows how many pups are being breed, the data base is still under construction so is not a full and complete record. http://www.thebwra.co.uk/index.htm its getting to the point, it will end up being like greyhound racing, if greyhound racing was banned, and whippet racing wasn't - then i think those who used to do greyhound racing would think about taking up whippet racing.
