  7. could I have a kick up the bottom or a large injection of enthusiasm for doing some actual work please? Need to work not dream about adopting another dog!
  8. In case it helps I have two very experienced GWP owners here in York who run their dogs in flyball (Kathryn's Rolfie is the first GWP Silver Flyball Dog!) who may be able to help with advice or backup if needed? I'm also trying very hard not to fall in love with them, or Munsterlanders
  9. Dear Heartbroken, I have to say I have no idea what you are complaining about - I spend most of my time having to swear in a ladylike manner at dogs who INSIST on sniffing my gorgeous bottom without so much as a by your leave! Why you want to encourage such behaviour is beyond me, perhaps the poor boy is intimidated by your shocking intentions? Yours with disapproval Ms Farah
  10. tee hee - loving the ladies outfits too!
  11. oooooooooh thank you was brought breakfast in bed this morning, snuggled by two gorgeous collies and one gorgeous man, and going out for dinner tonight
  12. good morning RMF I am testing out incontinence pads as bedding for the g'pigs under their vet bed today
  13. I think it was because RMF had turned into RMrants so SamSquirrel started the cheery happy thread, I liked it but for once seem to be sliding back into grumpy! (are we taking over RMF now ?)
  14. Is this going back to having the cheery and grumpy threads again ?
  15. RMrant: having spent a chunk of my weekend trying to find a rescue space for someone's nervous collie, and just rung them to discover it doesn't matter because they've given the dog back to the farm they bought her from. No need to let me know after all *sigh* I apologise in advance for using the Refuge to unload slightly - I'm not sure where else to go since potentially the people that upset/annoy/frustrate me may look at my facebook or twitter feeds and I really don't want to alienate them....but sometimes you just want to
  16. oh no Thinking of Mel and family, Dennis was one of those really special dogs that touches your heart
  17. I know we all see this again and again in the media, but this really emphasised some of the unfairness towards particular breeds for me. Today there is a fairly horrific local story about a boy being badly bitten by a dog when out in a park. He appears to have been attacked by a dog who was on lead but got away from the owner/walker. There is relatively little in the way of melodrama, despite this being a serious attack, and no calls for stronger laws on dog ownership, or muzzling etc etc. Note the dog is reported as being large black and possibly a lab cross. Article here On the other side, a " staff type" dog was reported to have attacked a young pup and badly damaged it when out walking on a popular area in York. The pup has been reported to be 10 weeks old so has suffered a very serious attack. A large part of the article is then devoted to the idea that such dogs are innately dangerous, a zero-tolerance approach is required. Puppy attacked article Unusually for such articles, at least some of the comments emphasise the responsibility of the owner to be responsible for the dog's behaviour.
  18. *snorrrrt* I misread that as an addiction to CSJ as in dog food!
  19. Hey all, I may need to help someone rehome their Bassett hound - he's fairly young but has had some health issues and some behaviour problems. I've looked up the breed rescue contact details but wondered if anyone has had any specific contact with them in general, any comments good or bad - please PM me thanks Mog xxx
  20. *nom* coffee and dark mint chocolate
  21. Actually it does make me feel better I'm just baffled by the idea that having a less than perfect house and garden means I'm losing my focus???? Anyway - we know we're doing the right things!
