  1. I'll be there all day in rings 5,6,7,8 and 9. Between Mum and I we will be running 3 dogs and none of them are in the same parts - too many courses to walk . So I'll be there somewhere, getting plenty of exercise (whats the bet that the parking is miles away from the rings I am in) .
  2. Definately agree with the last one
  3. Well done to you both, there will be no stopping you now
  4. Well it was quite successful and Taiya took everything in her stride. Mum was doing the training (as it is her dog really - though I will be starting off the agility training due to Mum's other hip needs replacing). Anyway, this meant I just got to watch which was great. Little pups are so funny and food rules. All pups bar one were roughly the same age as Taiya, which were a yellow lab, terrier, cocker spaniel and miniture snautzer (sp). The other was a very exuberant 8 month old choc lab. So there was quite a mixture. First exercise after a chat was pups off lead (one at a time) walk in and out of bollards. Taiya was quite happy to follow her tuggy and took it in her stride. The others all used food which worked just as well. Next exercise was a sit, which all did very well - owners had already mastered that one at home. The only exception was the terrier, who couldn't stand still long enough let alone sit - but eventually got the idea. The lady was trying to explain why certain things should be taught etc etc, but it was very hard with all the pups trying to get at the others - but also very funny. The little terrier was barking and trying to wind up the older lab, which would then drag the owner out of her seat periodically to try and play with terrier. I'm sure they will all calm down in a few weeks. It was nice to see all the pups picking up new things and watching them interact with each other. Will report back after next weeks class.
  5. I did notice that the websites called them arachnids, which just makes it worse for me - don't like spiders. They are gross, but easy to remove (as you've said) with the tick remover. Must admit that I just throw them down the drain.
  6. These are engorged ticks, though when they first attched themselves to your dog, they are a lot smaller and flatter. Unless you check your dog for ticks, you probably won't notice them until they fatten up. Saying that, ticks tend to feast around the face area, and therefore easier to see there. This was the best pic I could find (some of the others looked to scary) .
  7. Taiya is off to puppy class tonight, I'm sure she'll have great fun. There will be 5 others and we'll see whether she can concentrate for more than a nanosecond or just want to play with all the other dogs. . Wish us luck
  8. Indy sounds like she's having fun, keep up the good work
  9. I'm a Gangster Obsesser who gives great head (must remember to put that on my cv)
  10. DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read. Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun. 1. First, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10) 2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold) 3. Add 5 4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator 5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1756 .. If you haven't, add 1755. 6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born. You should now have a three digit number. The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week). The next two numbers are YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!) THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2006) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.
  11. An easy way to make a few jumps is, stick 2 bamboo (or similar) canes into the ground and clip a peg onto each cane, then lay another cane across the pegs - voila
  12. One thing to remember is that even if you have a beginner dog, once you have entered a Novice class you can't go back. A friend of mine decided to have a go in Novice (once) and had previously just done casual, so now she can't do beginners. Its a shame, but I suppose if you bend the rules for one, then what will others say!!!! I'm lucky that I stuck to Nursery and now Casual, so I can do beginners with my youngster.
  13. I do hope Ivy is well soon . Chicken and turkey necks are much softer (more like a grisle), whereas lamb bones are harder. We happily feed turkey necks but have only given ours lamb bones once. We are a bit wussy when it comes to bones because our dogs are gannets, so will only feed turkey necks (chicken wings were trying to swallowed too whole ). We now buy minced chicken and lamb carcasses so that they get their RMB portions, but let them chew on large knuckle bones to keep teeth clean.
  14. - I can't say some of the words when I'm sober. Definately
  15. I agree, I prefer power and speed - very straight forward. I always think Gamblers is a bit of a panic run - well it is for me. Snooker is fun and once you know which obstacles you want to do, the rest is easier, but the last one I did absolutely knackered me - I really needed some oxygen when I crossed the finish. The first one was over in seconds - my dog knocked down the first jump (red) and carried on up the a-frame before I could stop her - so was eliminated . In Gamblers you have to complete a set number of obstacles in a certain time when the whistle blows. At UKA they usually have two gambles, one gets more points than the other. The higher point gamble is obviously harder and can be something like - two jumps in a straight line and then back through a tunnel, but you have to stay behind a line (hope that made sense). l l <.......l=======l <....... (tunnel) l l ........>I ........>I .............^ (jumps) l l
  16. Hmm Jodie needs help.......and right now. I'm glad that one was top of list, cause the second one was a bit rude and mentioned a certain piece of a man's anatomy
  17. Definately bottom of the scores - whoops, goes to show that you should read things properly
  18. I'm in North Somerset for a UKA show, and its outside. People must think we're mad. Hope its not too bad, must remember my ditas (don't really want to go arse over tit )
  19. It always seems a shame, and you just can't help thinking that it may end up as another problem dog in rescue if nothing is done. Hopefully if she chooses an agility club, they may also do obedience and can help her out. Heres keeping my fingers crossed.
