  1. Vets are getting worried that people have realised that annual boosters are not necessary and are even dangerous. So, in order to keep the income rolling in, they are offering discounts. And so the plot between vets and pharmaceutical giants goes on. Did you vaccinate your children every year? Of course not. Because once a body has immunity, it has immunity. Those memory cells never forget. You could take a look at this if you still think annual vaccinations are a must My dogs are vaccinated once............and we have had foster dogs in straight from traveller sites with kennel cough, mange, gastro-enteritis, etc etc. My dogs haven't picked up anything. Annual boosters are a scam.
  2. I regularly walk my 17 - so I'm stuffed. I pick up religiously in places where people go, but not on farmland where we are competing with cows and horses. At the beach everything is picked up. Mine are under control. I have had only one incident in the last few years - an off-lead Husky hurtled towards me and so my Greyhound went to my defence. He had back-up from terrier Zeb and the Husky got bitten and chased away. Served him and his owner right, I say. But after being pinned against my van by a maniac threatening me with a metal golf club, I paid the vets bills. It's not my dogs who run at other dogs. If I can control a large number, why can't other people stop their bloody Labs and Huskies running into my group????
  3. Please don't have me carted away until I have outlived this lot. We might be mad but we are jolly with it Most of mine are 10 plus. And the oldest is 18 - so we won't be at 15 for very long It's do-able for the moment. They are all insured and I'm still earning and my daughter works from home and keeps them company. It's going to have to work. Thank goodness they all love each other
  4. Her first home - who dumped her (of course she could have been passed around before that) Limerick Animal Welfare Aly who nursed her back to health Cruella and her sidekick Llanelli Dogs Home Her latest home in Ammanford Here with me It's amazing that she's such a nice girl still.
  5. Some of you know the story of Shayla Well she is now in her final (and at least her seventh) home - with me. Here are some pics taken this afternoon in the drizzle Shayla looking shy Having fun with a ball With the whole crew It's daft having 15 dogs but they are happy, harmonious and well-behaved (because they are always tired) and so it seems to work.
  6. This is the stuff I use, but I fear that it might not be what you want. http://www.hoofheartedequestrian.co.uk/pow...ndage-i169.html I put some on my lurcher's leg tonight so that she could run in spite of having a torn dew claw and it stayed put perfectly.
  7. Oh good grief! There are some evil people about. Thank goodness she is with you. I hope she makes it.
  8. She said that Eccles on Sea was dashed hard to find. And we saw deer and owls on my "pretty route" to the takeaway. Some people are so ungrateful. We had to go to Somerset anyway today to visit Carol aka Eagleowl - so we were nearly there when we realised that we had really messed up getting to Amy. My daughter navigated on the way home using an old-fashioned map -worked a treat. One day I'll tell you how I tried to find a little Italian village called Poreta
  9. I think Bayleaf was the ghost writer for this. £5
  10. Great news! Poppy is staying in Taunton with her foster mum's sister. And when her new mum is at work on two days in the week, Poppy will be with her foster mum. The best scenario possible. Thanks to everyone for their help
  11. She can travel as long as her folk are prepared to come and collect her and be vetted by either Rachel or me. One of us would have to meet the person(s) before Poppy could go anywhere. So that limits us to Wales and the South West. We have already had some home offers but not yet that special one where she could be an only dog, cuddled most of the day but also have exercise and a good, healthy diet. Her foster mum says that she is getting stronger every day and is getting around fine. But it's early days for her yet. She won't be ready to go for a few weeks.
  12. She's in Taunton at the moment, Fee
  13. Poppy is five years old, a real sweetie. The vet thinks that she is part chihuahua - she is certainly very small and weighs only 3 kilos. Last week she was run over and has had a leg amputated. The other leg is also damaged. However, in a short time this brave little girl has learned to keep her balance and walk on 3 legs. Today her foster mum said that she mooched along a hedgerow for about 400 yards. She will stay with her foster home until she is 100% well. So what sort of home does Poppy need? No other dogs - she is a people person Someone around all day so that she can get the cuddles that she is used to Someone who will tolerate her sleeping on their bed - that's what she's used to and she makes one heck of a fuss if she is denied the privilege No children - that's why she's been taken away from her real home - her mum didn't want her to be played with roughly by her children So a dogless, retired person in need of a very loving companion would be perfect All homes will be homechecked. It is too soon to spay Poppy after her op but she must be spayed as soon as it is safe to do so. And here she is She is the sweetest, tiniest little girl and deserves the best home
