  1. yeah really nice show. shame it took over 2 hours to get to though! i wouldnt normally go that far for a day show but as shes just come of age! had a really good day, evil jrt was on form for once and got 1st, 3rd and 4th. obviously her classes were tiny but still.. marble was great, she had a really good time! i had no idea what she would do but in the steeplechase she went off like a rocket! i dont know if you saw the beginners s/c but you had a line of jumps leading to a tunnel and you had to call them off the 4th one to go diagonally. i called her a bit much so we got a refusal for that because she came in to me too much. got round a bit more then there was a fan of 3 jumps which she had already done but she kept coming in and biting me so i think thats where we got E'd. i know it was just excitement so i didnt mind. she had a jump down on the home straight too which isnt like her but never mind! i ran her nfc in the nursery but she would have gone clear. she came off the a frame which obviously is not on! she was great though, worked ahead of me fantastically. she finished the agility a good 5 secs ahead of me i think! you would probably have noticed my dogs if you'd seen them, quite destinctive.. blue merle lurcher and black and white gwp
  2. just wandering if anyone was going. mainly wandering if anyone was going with a video camera? its my lurchers first comp hence im driving nearly 100 miles to the show! i just wandered if anyone was filming already if they might be able to capture her being a cowbag at a show for the first time.. bit of a tall orderi know but worth a shot!

    June Brags

fu got her first proper placing today at uka. she got 2nd in beginners agility
  6. well..thats all well and good but whats a stride or a pace? with horses i used to have small, med and big strides depending on whether it was a pony, horse or massive horse jumping..
  7. one thing tho, if you do grids where the dogs bounce (some people call it pounce) ie they dont take a full stride between jumps, you mustnt do too much of it because its very hard work for them. whenever we do it in training we might do that kind of thing 3 or 4 times and thats it. if you have full strides between it wouldnt be such hard work. actually...how do you walk the distance for a dog? bit easyer with horses..
  8. my gwp started doing that last year. he had to retire a couple of months after because it turned out he has arthritus in his spine and compression on his sciatic nerve. not saying your dog is neccesarily that bad but worth getting her back checked for definite.
  9. thanks for your replies. we're nearly done now, shes almost back to normal back there. i kept her in for a couple of days when she was really in slapper mode but otherwise walked her before 7 and after 8 at night. i dont know how breeders do it though. i couldnt do it again!
  10. marble the lurcher is having her first season. i say first but it will be only as she will be spayed in a few months. she sleeps upstairs where we have white carpet (my mums idea and i regularly berate her for it, what was she thinking?!?!) and just to generally stop her dripping everywhere, she has been wearing knickers with a panty liner. i dont think she is completely humiliated and i think they are quite comfortable. we had looked into those proper dog pants things but se she has a tiny waist and massive thighs, i think it will be impossible to get ones to fit. i was just wandering if anyone else had any ideas. the other thing is, iv not had a bitch in season before as all our other bitches have always been spayed before we've had them (rescue dogs) so i wandered about walking her. im obviously going to avoid peak dog walking times but at what point during the season is she likely to become a tart? big pointer job dudley hasnt shown much interest yet. hes been done but only a year and a half ago (hes nearly 5) so i would expect some reaction... thanks in advance.
  11. honestly, party poopers! its a special treat on agility night that they get some horse poo. only when on lead after their run tho...must keep up the standards!
  12. yeah its a real shame but i took him to my club show on sunday and he enjoyed it almost as much just being out and about. of course lots of people love him so he got loads of fuss. im going to do some gundog training with him so hes not going to miss out, its just me thatl miss running him.
  13. dudley is starring in the latest issue of 'the voice'. flattering comments about my gorgeous dog are always appreciated! though i dont need to be told hes a stunner! nor does he for that matter, hes always known he was special
  14. i think ive got it covered but im waiting for a cheque for the money ive already paid. il let you know if it dosent happen. itd be £25 tho
  15. she isnt organising it. i told the woman who was organising it quite a while ago that i couldnt go but would try to find someone myself. she isnt keeping a waiting list and said she would only fill the space if someone asked her. i think ive got it covered now though.
