Ah. I get you know.
I know some people have a diagnosed condition called Seasonally Affected Disorder, therefore their moods are directly linked to light.
But whereas UV rays do give all of us a natural 'happiness vitamin', if you like, (or the Vitamin D, i think?), that isn't to say the seasonal removal of said 'happiness vitamin' means we then all get 'sadness'
It doesnt affect me that way. I have suffered depression, which was irrespective to seasons and light, but to do with personal circumstance. But the long dark nights do bug me, as i find them inconvenient and pointless.
I love daylight 24/7, as it gives me more energy, which i think is the more the point of the situation, as opposed to happiness.
I dont even like the daylight in the UK in the Summer, as its too muted and dull, due to pollution and light pollution.
One of the startling differences i noted in DK and NZ was how bright twas during the day.
I would love light 24/7, as I can sleep regardless, would have more energy, spend more time awake and alert and be a higher achiever.
Alaska here i come!
If Xmas stresses you out, i would say January gives you joy!
If you invest high purpose into Xmas, then once it's gone, you would feel a void in January.
But the same could be said of any big event throughout the year.
I enjoy the various annual celebrations, but I'm one of these people that doesn't put very much emotional investment into them, as i dont really see the big deal/meaning with them the first place, so wont get that big high before and during and big low afterward.
Dec 31 to Jan 1 has never made a blind bit of difference to me.
New Years Eve, now that would make the nation feel 'depressed', what with hangovers the first week of January!
The way you worded it before, i thought you literally meant that everyone is made depressed by January/lack of light, and it's natural for us all to be so.
Which i figured odd and defeatist.
Especially as the people i know are the same now as they are any other time of year, including those with depressed personalities.
Thanks for clarifying.
I understand you to just mean lack of light is physiological, and that we all might get the odd blue days after Xmas?
And you dont mean its natural for us all to suffer from 'Depression', but we are all 'more likely' to get days where we feel 'depressed' in January?
BTW: eat nothing but figs! One of the best Serontonin fuelled foods going.
Apparently worked well for Prince Guatama Sidarata, and look what he turned into!
