  1. Or a large rope round your waist just in case. The thought of going near a pond in this weather fills me with horror. We have an 80ft duck pond. The ducks have taken to walking about the farm yard to get bread. I dont forsee going near the pond untill Spring.
  2. Can I just say in the nicest possible sense.... You have come a long way. I swear it was you two years ago that was looking for advice on promoting DS. I think it makes perfect sense to promote the Fuge in a more up to date way.
  3. I hate carrying buckets of water and it sploshing down my boots. I love Jersey Cow snogs with warm yeasty breath (theres not mine )
  4. I live my life like that ! If we have enough snow Im going to build a snow horse just to see which looney attacks it first.
  5. It was a tiff which will be forgotten quicker than it took to create it. Mrs Mop you just get back here ! People will squabble when they feel safe to do so like in a family. But its safer here than the hidden carnage against innocent people that goes on elsewhere.
  6. I dont understand how RMF is scary but I do remember the first time I looked at it. There seemed to be all these friends who knew things about each other. The secret is that you can throw in one sentence and be part of it and you dont neccesarily have to keep tabs because there is always something new and up to date. I dont use much of the rest of the forums simply because Im not directly linked to a lot of stuff. I do occasionally go and look. I think looking for blame is a personal thing, everyone has their own opinions and no one person can be right. I think most people at the moment are struggling to survive and probably have less time than before. Its a numbers game and the more the Refuge advertises, gets involved in issues and is the centre of ongoing things then the more she will thrive. Is it possible to send an admin message to all members with a link to new postings ?. I couldnt resist a look if it were sent to me. I really think we all are looking at this ass about face. ALL websites are slowing down so we just need to be a little more proactive in getting the good ship Refuge out there and attracting new passengers.
  7. We dont always agree on everything Snow but you have hit every point bang on. This site really was a refuge from all the libel and hate. It did raise a lot of money for most rescues, not the chosen few and long may it survive. It was a good thing when it started and it still is. Just life changes sometimes but what goes around comes around in a good way too. Why is there no link to here on the facebook Refuge pages ? What if we all put a link to the Refuge on our facebook pages ?
  8. Thanks Fred is knocking on and this is the first time he has been allowed to live with cows since a calf so he has had a happy time. If it wasnt for the snow and ice I wouldnt have to be making this decision just yet but looking at him today he doesnt look happy. He cant keep up with the girls when they go wandering and we are only in November.
  9. Im tireder than a tired thing on Tired day. I could sleep standing up and other than Jangles wanting pit stops Im glued to my leccy blanket. I have to drag myself together tommorow but Im hoping by resting up I will feel better tommorow. Our old Bull Fred doesnt look great on his feet and the snow and ice wont help him. Big decisions there I think.
  10. What a lovely tribute. Ive often noticed that an animals behaviour, that has a short time left, changes. Like she snuggled into your knees for the first time. I dont think they fear passing over just how they get there. She obviously had a great life and the best possible passing.
  11. No really. I saw dog T shirts of which there are many and then saw horse T shirts. My imagination got a little carried away for a minute.
  12. Im very dissapointed. I was going to buy my Grandaughters Shetland a T shirt
  13. Hm just read it and not quite so sure now. I thought it was pretend. But on the other hand its got to be better than mechanically reclaimed meat
  14. Yes I would. Dibs wouldnt because........................................... Somthing about hating soya pretend food.......? She eats Facon and a Tescos pretend chicken roast though.
  15. I smugly thought we had avoided Snow and then the sky went black before throwing its full load of large snow flakes at us. It was so heavy at one point it was like thick fog. Carmarthen had 2 inches in an hour and Llanelli hospital where my daughter was, announced a severe weather warning to people that if you lived outside the town to get in your car and go home before you couldnt get there.
  16. My heart goes out to you and the sadness you are having to endure. But what a lucky, lucky dog to have found you in her dotage and then to not have to suffer the ravages of cancer. sometimes things happen and we hate them but another reality would be her suffering and tests and then the same result.
  17. watch out cos with the present ebay system you will come off worse with feedback
  18. The 60s was the real thing you know. Raves were just an imitation. I expect Grandma Squiggs rocked in her day
  19. Thats great news that she has come round and she does sound stress free.
  20. What a very handsome chap. He has an air of English gentleman about him. I can see him bringing a lot of joy to the elderly.
  21. We had an incident where we were asked to help with a wallaby with a broken back. As it clearly needed a quick PTS and a prosecution as the animal had been like it for over a week I contacted the RSPCA. The next day the woman who had asked me to take the Wallaby phoned to see why I hadnt called to collect him. I spoke to the inspector myself and he told me that it was a case of priorities and if he had time he would go the following day. Debbie and I drove straight away to collect the poor boy and I took him back to my vets where he was immediately euthanised as he was paralysed. After I put it on my blog I got an apology and 3 people were cautioned. Sadly the Wallably was left to suffer with a broken back for nearly ten days. If more people supported the smaller rescues that actually take the brunt then a lot more animals would be saved.
  22. Thats sounds like great news. Its easier to step up to a better job when you are working.
  23. Its very cold and wet Jazz and you had that flu bug. I guess your lungs are complaining.
  24. Sympathies to all those suffering from Smashed fingers and monday morning syndrome. It will soon be Tuesday and you wont have to worry for another week. RMF My 2/12 yr old Grandaughter visited Santa for the first time. Apart from keeping control of her attempts to strip pretend snow off Santas fence during the long wait, she could have gone without us. She struts up, plonks herself down next to him, tells him all about playschool and then asks for a rocking horse. Other than asking the odd question Santa never got a word in edgeways.
  25. Wow thats a wonderful thing to be doing. Definately he needs his own thread.
