    Boxer Shot

I think most people from London (myself included) would appreciate the seriousness of a missing dog around live stock- or just a missing dog in general. It is a tragic situation, but it could have been prevented if the father hadn't been so irresponsible in the first place. But I am sure he is already feeling incredibly guilty as it is. My thoughts exactly. If somebody done this to my dog I would be paying them a visit with a shotgun of my own.
  3. So sorry to hear this Lots of positive thoughts being sent his way.
  4. She was training a boxer called Zulu. It was very surreal as you can just about see my house from that park. Can't say I've ever come across Zulu on our walks before, but I think these shows are a few years old. The other week she was training Jodie Marsh and her pack of chiuauas. In that episode Jodie also had a bulldog called Paddy and a bulldog puppy called Lyla. Last week she adopted a bulldog from a rescue that I have a link to on Facebook, and she has been regularly posting pictures of Paddy and her new addition.....but there is no sign or mention of Lyla or the chiuauas. Not sure if I'm being cynical, but I can't help but wonder what happened to them
  5. I am quite sad and absolutely love decorating. When I first moved into my house it looked like a brothel/Indian restaurant- red walls and red carpet with an external red light! I had to gut the place and it took me a few years to get sorted, but the animals have pretty much wrecked it all again now. However, my bedroom is one room that has managed to stand the test of time (apart from the odd animal stain here and there). I had the whole room replastered and then painted it an ivory cream, quite plain and boring, but then I made a feature wall of the chimney breast by putting up some lovely Laura Ashley wallpaper. It was costly (£25 a roll) but as I only needed one roll it didn't break the bank. In my spare bedroom (which is basically a box) I painted the walls magnolia and then papered one wall with Cath Kidston antique rolls and carried the theme into the curtains and scatter cusions. My best friend, Glen, moved in last year and he really appreciates the decor in his room!
  6. I can hazard a guess at what forum it was that banned you. If it is the same forum that I'm thinking of, then I also got banned for mentioning the Oldies Club in a personal message.
  7. Worryingly, this place near me is a registered charity, not a pound. They primarily take dogs from the pound, but do have a few that have been handed in by owners. About 90% of the dogs in their care are unneutered.
  8. How irresponsible. So now rescues have to contend with the victims of so called reputable breeders as well as all the other unwanted dogs that have been bred by money grabbing scum bags keen to make a quick buck? Some rescues just seem to perpetuate the problem. I recently came across a rescue in my local area that allows people to take dogs home after one initial meeting- no home visit, no references, no back ground checks, nothing. I don't understand it.
  9. Oh no, such sad news So sorry to hear this
  10. Just watching 'It's Me Or The Dog' and they were filming in our local park! Small things amuse me.
  11. I also emailed Nicola at Friends of Akitas and she is going to try and investigate.
  12. Just tried that, but you have to be a paying member to reply to adverts. It sounds a bit suspicious to me......if the dog came from a KC registered breeder, how did she end up in rescue? Any reputable breeder (which a KC registered one should be) would take the dog back if there were any problems. However, if she did come from a rescue then surely alarm bells must be ringing with them. Most people that adopt rescue dogs want a companion, not a pedigree show dog. Most rescues also request proof from a vet that the dog has been speyed/neutered at six months and would conduct a home visit if this hadn't been done. I wonder if she is a rescue dog, or if that is just an excuse that the owners are using for not having the papers? Poor dog.
  13. I couldn't agree more. You have to have something fundementally wrong with you to derive pleasure from the torture and suffering of another being. Those in support of fox hunting argue that foxes are a pest and must therefore be controlled, but they actually regulate their own population. The other arguement is that it is an old English tradition, well so are many other cruel and draconian practices that went out with dark ages- which is where fox hunting belongs in my opinion. But lets not kid ourselves, it still goes on despite the ban, because if you belong in the upper classes you can pretty much do whatever the hell you like.
  14. Well done everyone. We met Peter Purves at Scruffts and he was lovely. Who were the other celebrity judges?
  15. Oh no, poor Alistair Lots of positive thoughts being sent his way.
  16. Thanks Val and thanks again for bringing round all the merchandise. I actually made quite a bit of money from the 'guess the name of the dog' game, which was obviously your idea- so I have you to thank for most of the profit.
  17. Oh bless him, he is rather lovely I do have a soft spot for 'special needs' pets, never owned a rat before and I'm not sure how my cats would react, but he is very cute. Would he need to go to the vets to have his teeth clipped? At what age can they leave their mums to be rehomed? Sorry to keep asking questions, I'm just totally ignorant when it comes to rats- or rodents in general!
  18. Thanks. I've spoken to my friend and he is ok, but his car is a write off. He suffers from quite bad anxiety, so the crash, coupled with my neighbours response, really knocked him for six. I feel guilty as it wouldn't of happened if he wasn't helping me. But at least nobody was hurt, which is the main thing.
  19. I attended the Haslemere and District Dog Club fun show today to run a stall for the Oldies Club- and it was a rather eventful day! My friend came over at 8.30am to drive us there and give me hand running the stall, but when I opened the door he was covered in oil and as white as a sheet. I soon found out that his car had tripped out of gear and driven into the back of my next door neighbour- who was giving him a REALLY hard time. After 45mins of pacifying the situation, my dad drove my friend home and then came back to drop me and Tess off at the show. The event opened at 11 and we arrived at 11:15 As my dad already had already made plan for the day he literally had to just drop us off and leave us there- so I had to set up the stall on my own whilst holding the lead. It wasn't helped by the fact that Tess was bouncing off the walls with excitement! After finally getting the stall looking presentable, I only sold a few items. The total takings were £93 for the whole day, but as I was on my own it was a bit difficult to do the hard sell approach. On a more positive note, all of the money raised from the dog show will be donated to the OC, and I think that will be quite a substantial amount. Two of the men from the dog club were also really kind and watched the stall for me whilst I entered Tess for the veteran class (she got third place) and the best cross breed class (for which she got second place ).
  20. So sorry to hear this. Sleep tight Sian.
  21. Lovely. I really like chest pieces, but don't have the guts to get one myself.
  22. I got 98% on recognition and 75% on memory score. Better than I expected.
  23. The forum that I saw the post on was American. I'm not sure what laws they have in place over there to protect rodents, but having seen first hand the conditions that they keep pet store animals in, I don't have much faith When I was on holiday in LA my friend and I were evicted from the mall after I stressed my concerns for several puppies that were being kept in tiny glass cabinets with bright beaming lights glaring down on them. They looked weak, ill and miserable. The shop keeper seemed to find it hilarious that I was so concerned, which was incredibly frustrating and just proved the point that he had no interest in the welfare of the animals at all, it was all about profit. This was a pet store in the prestigious Beverly Center, so I dread to think of the conditions that animals are subjected to in shops with less salubrious settings. Anyway sorry for going off topic, I'm good at that Glad to hear that there have been lots enquiries, the pups (if that's the right term for baby rats?!) look so sweet, particularly the little hairless ones.
  24. That is awful. Poor animals I saw some idiot a few years post on a forum asking where he could buy live rats to feed his snake Totally cruel and unnecessary.
  25. So sorry to hear this sad news, he was a gorgeous little boy. Thinking of his foster family at this sad time.
