Unfortunately there are no children in my family so I can only go off how she is in the street with them. She was her tail when she sees kids, of all ages, and is quite happy for them to stroke her, in fact, she makes sure they stroke her by going up to them if they haven't approached her. She will go to anyone for a stroke, she does tend to jump up, but only for a tickle, she seems to love everyone!!

I think someone has already fallen in love with her (me) but I just feel she needs a proper home, with maybe a family or even a retired couple so that she has lots of company. She's a very undemanding dog, other than wanting cuddles, but she's no bother at all really. Would love her to find a forever-family-home, she definitely deserves it.

I've created a "video" for Ginny and put it on YouTube to see if we can generate any interest in her: - hope this works...........
  5. I really shouldn' t read these at lunchtime at work - people often wonder why I sit at my desk with tears running down my face, but I'm smiling at the same time. Fantastic news, well done hope you both have a wonderful long life together xxx
  6. fingers and toes crossed for you Tara
  7. I am so sad to hear about this. He looked such a lovely little dog, one I would have been happy to foster. Such a shame he ended his days in kennels but at least he was saved from horrible conditions. Poor, poor boy - rip at the bridge little 'un xxxxxxx
  8. had a quick look at map but couldnt work out how to add me, so: Olivea - Olive Armstrong NE15 7xl Oldies regional co-ordinator NE, Homechecker, Transporter, Fosterer
  9. I hope I can go to one of the weekends. It really depends on venue as well as cost as I am in the north everything is usually so far away - boo hoo! Hopefully can manage one of them tho'.
  10. Yes I know it's only 1st of Jan, however, looking at the dull dreary sky and the snow falling, my thoughts are going to the summer and weekends away and holidays!! Last year I couldnt go to the camping weekend as it fell on my holidays but I'm going to try and incorporate it into my hols if I can, so I wondered if anyone had decided what dates the camping weekend would be???
  11. Anyone got any details of the campsite i.e. facilities, tariff?? had a look on web but can't find anything. It might be too far for me for a weekend but will check.
  12. Hi to everyone. Many thanks for all of the comments/advice and I shall certainly consider all. I wanted some feedback on antihistamines before discussing with vet as I think that although vets know how to treat various things, they don't have always have the experience of dealing with these issues on a daily basis by that I mean living with a dog with these issues. Ginny does have malaseb baths but I'm not even sure that they help and although I agree with Ian about finding the issue, as other people have suggested, it is not always easy to do that and my first concern is controlling the issue somehow, so that Ginny is more comfortable. She is being treated for chronic sarcoptic mange, and although the current treatment is helping, I know that because her feet are so much better, it is awful to see her continually scratching at her ears, and tearing the skin, not to mention continually scraping her bottom which must be sore as well as very itchy. I'm going to try the antihistamine route and see if there is any improvement. Once again, thanks for all the comments, will keep you posted!
  13. When I first got Ginny a few people suggested antihistamines to help with her mange however, can't remember who/when. She is now due to go back to vets for another checkup and although her feet aren't anywhere near as bad as they were, she still has lots of problems with her ears, and scraping her bottom as it is so itchy (it's not her glands I've checked). I don't think the antibiotics are helping her much and although the steriods are reduced I dont think they're helping either. Can anyone advise about antihistamines please.

  15. I am sooooo sad that no-one has a Ginny-shaped hole in their heart or home. She is a fantastic dog and had practically no interest since I got her from the dog pound in September. I had hoped Santa would bring her a new home, perhaps I'll have to wait for the Easter Bunny now! She is such a lovely dog, practically no bother at all.
  16. Definitely a great christmas "tail", what better way to start christmas than in a loving foster home. Well done everyone involved in his rescue and to his new foster family
  17. Merry Christmas to everyone. Hope Santa is good to you all and your gorgeous dogs, and that the New Year brings lots more forever homes for our foster Oldies. Merry Christmas to our beloved ones who have passed away to the Bridge this year - Tess, I miss you so much , you're in my thoughts and heart always xxxx Lots of love to you all from Olive and foster Ginny (who has lots of pressies under the tree!!!) xxxx

  19. That's fantastic news. Merry Christmas to Jake and his lovely new family, and a very happy new year to you all xxx
  20. Poor girl. Similar story to Ginny who I'm fostering except she was found as a stray. I thought she was dog aggressive but she wasnt. I hope Tara gets a god home soon x
  21. It's fantastic that so many have found homes. Lovely video, I'll cross-post it on my fb page. Let's hope even more find homes in 2010.
  22. Ginny has had such a good day today. Usually if it's cold or raining you can't get her out of the drive but today we went for a walk across the field in the snow. She seemed to love it, running round like a pup, chasing snowballs! Then a little later on at home while I was tidying out a cupboard I found one of Tess's balls so threw it along the hall and Ginny chased it!!! First time she's shown any interest in toys at all, so we had a game for about 10mins and she was chasing the ball and pouncing on it and then bringing it back to me. Obviously the inner pup has surfaced!! So, Santa will have to get her a toy after all
  23. Jerry looks so happy with the other dogs - looks like he fits right in! Glad he's got a fab home for Christmas - I hope you ALL have a lovely christmas xx
  24. I'm so pleased for Pip, I bet her foster family will miss her tho!!! P My poor Ginny is still waiting, very little interest in her and she's such a lovely girl, funny little character and sooooo loving. All she wants is someone to snuggle up to. She would love to be in a family with lots of people around her - hopefully the new year will bring her a new home.
