  1. Hi Claire, Hello, welcome and Happy Xmas You could always consider fostering an oldie if you have space! Also, I think but not 100% sure but we might have a Regional Co-ordinator for the Oldies Club in Wales who you could possibley link up with. Other than that, Im not in your neck of the woods but I'm sure someone else on here will have some suggestions of places near you. Good luck.
  2. What lovely pictures, looked as if both the dogs and residents had a lovely time together. What beautifully behaved dogs as well (although not sure what happened with the Xmas tree!? ) -are they PAT dogs?
  3. Thinking of you all who have been affected by this
  4. I love all Xmas films as well but especially Its a Wonderful life
  5. Hi I've been contacted via a friend about a dog who urgently needs a new home. Hes a staffi cross labrador, six years old, catrated and up to date with his vacinations. He knows some commands and is apparently good with other dogs although I have not met him to see for myself. His situation is that his owner, who rescued him 3 years ago, has had a baby and is finding it very hard to cope. Apparently Cooper knocked the pram over in his enthusiasm and is not being kept in the garden. Cooper is good with older children who would be better able to cope with his enthusiasm for life. His owner has spent 2-3 days ringing up various rescues but no-one is able to take him. Ideally we are looking for someone to adopt him or else a rescue who could foster him in a home however his owner is desperate and would allow any (responsible) rescue to take him. Can anyone help Cooper have a happy Xmas and find a new home? I will try to get some pictures to post shortly. Marie-Claire
  6. So sorry to hear about your Alfie and sending you lots of
  7. OMG she is completely . What a great video, am sure it won't be long before this girl gets snapped up - I love the bit of the video at the start with her making those funny noises with her ball as well. Well done, shes obviously feeling very safe and happy now.
  8. When I clicked on the link for the auction, it didn't work and can't find it on the homepage
  9. Hiya, I'm helping out with Wagging Tails dog training classes which are in South Norwood. They only use positive reward based training methods and I would personally recommend them. Only thing is dont' know if theyd be a bit far for you? - if not would be lovely to see you there and meet you and your dog. Their website is www.wtdt.co.uk - if you're interested best to give Vera (who runs the classes) a bell and have a chat. Good luck. M-C
  10. Fantastic pictures, they made me smile lots . Thanks for such a lovely start to my day.
  11. What lovely pictures . Reminds me of my first dog Rusty who used to love the heat as well and stand in front of the fire (when we had a real one) until you could smell him singeing and them we had to move him away quick smart.
  12. Thats great news, I saw Chico on the site and felt so sorry for him and sad that I amn't in a position to adopt him. I'm so glad hes found such a wonderful home. Big to him and Peggey and well done to their new family for taking them both in.

  17. I will be sure to suggest these as Christmas presents at my next OC event (still tbc)
  18. Thank you for your replies . Laura, unfortunately I'm in South east London but I hope you find someone to mind Tess soon. Ruthi, I hadn't thought of a franchise before, and its certainly something to consider although ideally I would like to start out on my own as my first choice. Strangely enough I think marketing would be the easiest thing for me as I'm known as the dog lady in my area already and I'm not looking to take a lot of dogs on. I'm already CRB checked for my current job (although I will need to renew this shortly) so thats fine. The main thing I am worrying about is insurance, ie. whos the best, how much is it per year etc and also how to pay tax - would I need to set up a limited company or is there another way (fingers crossed) around this. I guess after that it would be calculating whether I would be able to cover my costs and still make some money to pay my bills
  19. Hi I am tentatively thinking of starting a dog walking/sitting business. I have grown up with dogs, have a dog myself and have just started helping out at puppy training classes and will be joining a dog training class shortly in order to get more experience/knowledge. I know I would need to get insurance but wondered if anyone has any advice/experience/thoughts on doing this, how hard/easy it is etc? Thanks
