  1. I would love to have a wood-burning stove but have no chimney. Is it at all possible to have one installed without a conventional chimney?
  2. Tracey.s that's a real pain - and leaves a nasty taste in the mouth..... Had a lovely walk at lunch time - was in the little park and a Sparrowhawk came skimming across about 4 feet off the ground and about 10 feet away - had an excellent view of it.And the torrential rain/sleet/snow that started half an hour before I left stopped the minute I stepped out the College entrance
  3. Took the D's out yesterday am as had a plumber in and Duncan is soooo nosy he has to see what's going on and gets in the way.Went along the canal and saw two herds of deer just grazing out in open fields. It was brill watching them and as the other side of the canal neither of mine decided to give chase.First group had about 20,the second about 8.Didn't meet a single person out - bliss.....Duncan found a manky old tennis ball so he was happy,Daisy fell in twice and had to be hauled out - a very good morning for all 3 of us.
  4. Did my first homecheck today which was great fun and found a brilliant new place to walk whilst doing so.Took my two with me and went to the beach afterwards. Then drove to Minehead for another beach walk and froze....the wind was awful. There were about 40 fisherman waiting for the tide to come in,not my idea of fun.Daisy found a dead fish to roll in Duncan was like a loon just ran and ran in the wind. The car now has 2" of sand to add to the mud
  5. Eddie Calvert - Oh mein Papa go on how many of you have ever heard that I couldn't get it at first either - try this link now
  6. Might take you up on that Hedgehog - may be coming up for Easter depending on bank balance - as ever.
  7. Tesco sell Tim Tams - both the original and the rather yummy fudge version.
  8. Got your hands full there Beaky - but it's going to make huge difference when it's cleared.Just taken all the dogs bedding to the launderette to bung in the drier and took them for a walk in the little park nearby - it is bitterly cold and starting to rain, really yucky but I now have sweet smelling dog beds, blankets and sofa throws - also mud free for ooooh at least an hour if lucky
  9. I've found the home I really want to own.....and I'm not a covetous person at all but this is fantastic.A one acre walled garden plus woodland plus a paddock and don't think even Daisy could get over those walls.Oh well no harm in dreaming.
  10. Morning all - having just hoovered up inches of dried mud now realise that one of the advantages of living in a second floor flat with a dog was by the time you'ld walked up 2 flights of stairs a large proportion of mud had dropped off on the way up.... how on earth one tiny little female BT manages to get so dirty I'll never know.
  11. Just taken my two out for their last walk - pouring with rain, blowing a gale so Duncan decides that's perfect weather to have a game of chase with Max his Lab friend - and Max's owner and me stand there watching them.....
  12. Last Palmerston North but have lived in Takaka,Wanganui,Tokoroa, and lots of other places - moved around a lot when I was a child (many years ago... ) Miya is a beauty
  13. Well I'm a Kiwi and will always support ANY team that plays Australia in any sport - and that sure as heck isn't being racist by any stretch of the imagination.....just can't bear seeing them win.....which they usaully do....
  14. Google must be going cazy trying to work out why so many people are suddenly searching felix cat food
  15. Thanks ReikiAnge thought I'd looked everywhere surprised not more nominations.....
  16. A couple of days ago Pingu posted asking for nominations for the monthly help a refuge scheme - and I can't find it now....can some kind person point me in the right direction....Ta
  17. Off track but I couldn't work this out until I realised if you click on the little red arrow it takes you directly to the post - and it's one where Scotslass was quoting someone else but quotes didn't work.Something to be aware of.
  18. I don't have a problem with children in restaurants as long as they have been taught how to behave and have at least some basic table manners - and of course you have to make allowances for the fact that the only way they can learn to behave in public is to be in public.I have had some absolutely enchanting children seated nearby and some diabolical so called adults as well. But have also experienced the brats allowed to race around all over the place without being told off by their parents. Why are the Brits in particular so bad about teaching children how to behave in restaurants,I've rarely seen it in Europe.(Although that comment may lead me into more trouble.....)
  19. All confuddled at which is the "official" RMF ....but I'm on the first page of this one.....
  20. I'm Lynne, a Kiwi living in Taunton,Somerset with no OH or kids (bliss...... ) and 2 much loved spoilt rotten Border Terriers. Duncan just turned 2 and Daisy not sure of her age as she's an ex stray but reckon 3-4. My life revolves around them, their social calendar has far more activities on it than mine - and I wouldn't have it any other way.
  21. Lori so sorry for you, must be a nightmare situation.Have you contacted www.doglost.co.uk who have (sadly) so much experience in Lost Dogs and can offer you invaluable advice and support.Hope your little Balou is home with you soon.
  22. Sounds like as good a way as any - but which dog..... :P seriously though excellent idea.
  23. Brilliant idea. Can I ask how/who will decide which rescue will be chosen? There are just so many of them doing an amazing job.
  24. I do Agility (badly!) with Duncan - I really enjoy it and would love to start Daisy too but think we might just need to work on Obedience a tiny bit more ......Attended our first competition in January - total disaster as it was held in a Riding for the Disabled Centre and horse poo proved to be far more interesting than flying over jumps :embarassed: Not sure if I'll really get into Competing - seems to me it could turn out very expensive this travelling all over the country but it's a fun way to bond with your dog and meet lots of other like minded people.
